De la puissance paternelle à l'autorité parentale : Une institution en voie de trouver sa vraie finalité
Career development training, certification, supervision and professionalization: case examples from four countries.
The career development sector is professionalizing internationally, through training, certifications, and an abundance of opportunities to learn from colleagues at conferences and international symposia. However, there are significant differences in how the profession is developing in different parts of the world; the notion of “career” is recognized as culturebound and, perhaps, inconceivable to many individuals. In this paper, career development educators from four countries in Asia, North America, and Europe share case examples of the career development sector’s evolution in their regions. Together, they represent institutions and training programs from the public and private sectors, in both formal and informal settings. Several of the authors have been influential in introducing and customizing career development practitioner competency frameworks and training for practitioners from diverse backgrounds to meet certification requirements. Together they examine how professionalizing the delivery of career development services has emerged in their regions, the variety of training opportunities available along a continuum from preparation for practice to reflection of practice, the diversity of standards and certifications in the career development sector, and the early stages of addressing the need for training and equipping supervisors and leaders. The authors advocate a “both/and” approach to professionalization, grounded in local research that surfaces felt needs and then customizing training, resources, and standards that incorporate relevant elements from international sourcesN/
Why Incorporating Translanguaging Practices Into English As A Second Language Programs Will Help Boost English Proficiency And Build Confident English Learners
English as a second language programs often implement other ways of teaching that do not allow for students to use their native language, requiring the use of English only using various instructional strategies to teach language and content. Translanguaging is a practice allows for students to be able to learn English as well as keeping their identity and culture through using their native language (L1) alongside English. This approach helps students to still learn English and be able to communicate with both their teachers and families at home about their schoolwork. Therefore, this thesis explores educational research done on translanguaging and the benefits that can come from using this way of teaching. To complete this thesis, I performed a literature review in the form of a pedagogical article to show the benefits of translanguaging.School of EducationPsycholog

What's the point? Examining indices in American Sign Language nominals
In American Sign Language, nominal phrases contain various pointing signs, referred to as 'indices', which establish specific referential loci in the signing space. These indices can occur pre- and/or post-nominally or can function as an independent pronoun. Traditionally, these indices have been treated as separate lexical items, but I argue that they are instead realizations of the same functional category, namely idx. Here, I extend part of an analysis of Washo nominal phrases (Hanink 2021) to nominals in ASL
Sostenibilidad: Una Nueva Imagen de Personas y Entornos de Trabajo Saludables.
ABSTRACT In this article, based on a presentation at the International Association of Educational and Vocational Guidance conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in September 2009, environmental sustainability is introduced as a metaphor to help examine individual and organizational sustainability. To begin, sustainability challenges are presented, followed by a discussion of the disconnect between public commitments to supporting work-life balance and healthy workplaces and the realities individuals continue to encounter. Next, the individual and organizational impacts of chronic busyness are examined. Finally, solutions are presented from a systemic perspective, using environmental sustainability initiatives as holistic models for change. Advancing Older Workers: Motivations, Adaptabilities, and Ongoing Career Engagement
There is international government, private sector, and not-for-profit interest in the aging workforce and how to retain or re-engage retirement-age workers to address skills gaps and strengthen productivity. Traditionally, however, the career development sector has paid relatively little attention to this demographic. Published Australian research (Luke, McIlveen, & Perera, 2016) has examined the motivations of individuals who have retired (or are considering it) to stay engaged or re-engage in the workforce. Grounded in developmental and constructivist career theories, this article provides an international (trans-Pacific) perspective on the value of older workers, how to meet their workplace needs and expectations, and what it will take for them to achieve and sustain an optimal level of career adaptability and career engagement. Analysis of vignettes based on interviews with post-retirement-age workers from the aforementioned published research, demonstrates how the career engagement model can provide a practical conceptual framework for influencing policy and supporting career decision-making and lifelong career management for this cohort
