Trait Perfectionism and Perfectionistic Self-Presentation in Psychological Distress: The Mediational Role of Self-Image Goals
The current research was designed to qualify and extend existing theory and research in the perfectionism field by considering the need to be perfect from a perspective that emphasizes motivation and the self. It is our contention that perfectionists are ego-involved and defensively focused on perfecting the self in ways that are clearly reflected in their goal pursuits. In particular, perfectionism involves a tendency to pursue and be cognitively preoccupied with the self-image goals described by Crocker and her colleagues (2008, 2012). The primary goal of the present research was to uniquely examine the links between dimensions of perfectionism and the pursuit of self-image goals and compassionate goals across various domains. Four studies are reported. Analyses confirmed that both trait and self-presentational perfectionism were consistently linked with the pursuit of self-image goals, which involve the desire to create positive images of the self. This was in contrast to compassionate goals, which focus more on supporting others, where the results were more mixed: compassionate goals were positively linked with some facets of perfectionism, but negative links also emerged when controlling for self-image goals. The primary evidence across four studies suggested that the association between perfectionism and self-image goals is generalizable and was detected in various goal pursuit domains (i.e., achievement, interpersonal, and self-improvement goals). Moreover, evidence indicated that self-image goals mediated the links that perfectionism had with psychological distress both cross-sectionally and longitudinally. The findings from these studies point to the need to revise existing motivational accounts of perfectionism by recognizing that the approach and avoidance tendencies of perfectionists are often experienced and expressed within the context of self-image goals that guide much of what perfectionists do and how they act and react in their daily lives
Where Are the Global COVID-19 Resources for LGBTI Communities?
In September 2020, Global Philanthropy Project conducted a second-phase survey of the leading government, multilateral, and philanthropic funders of global LGBTI issues, receiving responses from a group of funders who account for just under half of all global LGBTI funding. The findings from that survey, as well as a review of COVID-19 global humanitarian response funding, inform Where are the Global COVID-19 Resources for LGBTI Communities? The report found that in 2020, many LGBTI organizations across the world responded by shifting from human rights-focused programs to providing local humanitarian relief. Despite this, LGBTI communities have been largely excluded from COVID-19 humanitarian resources. The report outlines the potential long-term implications of the pandemic on global LGBTI movement resources
ANALISIS PENDAPAT IBNU HAZM TENTANG WAKTU PELAKSANAAN PENYEMBELIHAN HEWAN KURBAN
hilang hilal bulan Muharram (sampai akhir Dzulhijjah).
mengetahuibagaimana pendapat Ibnu Hazm tentang waktu pelaksanaan
menganalisis pendapat Ibnu Hazm tentang waktu pelaksanaan penyembelihan
hewan kurban.
bahan primer yaitu Kitab al-Muhalla karangan Ibnu Hazm sendiri. Sedangkan
sampai hilangnya hilal bulan Muharram. Dasar pijakan Ibnu Hazm menetapkan
penyembelihan kecuali sampai akhir Dzulhijjah.Pendapat Ibnu Hazmjuga
berlandaskan hadits Thariqbin Abi Syaibah. Tetapi menurut jumhur ulama hadits
penyembelihan kurban sampai tanggal 12 Dzulhijjah.
ulama masih membolehkan hingga akhir Dzulhijjah
The Need for Outreach in Preventing Suicide among Young Veterans
Jitender Sareen and Shay-Lee Belik discuss the implications of a new study showing an increased suicide risk in young men who left the UK Armed Forces
Personality Predictors of Yips and Choking Susceptibility
The ability to perform under heightened levels of pressures is one of the largest discriminators of those who achieve success in competition and those who do not. There are several phenomena associated with breakdowns in an athlete’s performance in a high-pressure environment, collectively known as paradoxical performances. The two most prevalent and researched forms of paradoxical performance are the yips and choking. The aim of the current study is to investigate a range of psychological traits (fear of negative evaluation, individual differences, anxiety sensitivity, self-consciousness, perfectionistic self-presentation, and perfectionism) and their ability to predict susceptibility to choking and the yips in an experienced athlete sample. 155 athletes (Golfers n = 86; Archers n = 69) completed six trait measures and a self-report measure of yips or choking experience. The prevalence rate for choking and yips in both archers and golfers was 67.7 and 39.4%, respectively. A 2 × 2 × 2 MANOVA and discriminant function analysis revealed that a combination of 11 variables correctly classified 71% of choking and non-choking participants. Furthermore, analysis confirmed that a combination of four variables correctly classified 69% of the yips and non-yips affected participants. In this first study to examine both paradoxical performances simultaneously, these findings revealed that for the yips, all predictors stemmed from social sources (i.e., perfectionistic self-presentation), whereas choking was associated with anxiety and perfectionism, as well as social traits. This important distinction identified here should now be tested to understand the role of these traits as development or consequential factors of choking and the yips.N/
Evaluation of prognostic risk models for postoperative pulmonary complications in adult patients undergoing major abdominal surgery: a systematic review and international external validation cohort study
Background
Stratifying risk of postoperative pulmonary complications after major abdominal surgery allows clinicians to modify risk through targeted interventions and enhanced monitoring. In this study, we aimed to identify and validate prognostic models against a new consensus definition of postoperative pulmonary complications.
Methods
We did a systematic review and international external validation cohort study. The systematic review was done in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. We searched MEDLINE and Embase on March 1, 2020, for articles published in English that reported on risk prediction models for postoperative pulmonary complications following abdominal surgery. External validation of existing models was done within a prospective international cohort study of adult patients (≥18 years) undergoing major abdominal surgery. Data were collected between Jan 1, 2019, and April 30, 2019, in the UK, Ireland, and Australia. Discriminative ability and prognostic accuracy summary statistics were compared between models for the 30-day postoperative pulmonary complication rate as defined by the Standardised Endpoints in Perioperative Medicine Core Outcome Measures in Perioperative and Anaesthetic Care (StEP-COMPAC). Model performance was compared using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROCC).
Findings
In total, we identified 2903 records from our literature search; of which, 2514 (86·6%) unique records were screened, 121 (4·8%) of 2514 full texts were assessed for eligibility, and 29 unique prognostic models were identified. Nine (31·0%) of 29 models had score development reported only, 19 (65·5%) had undergone internal validation, and only four (13·8%) had been externally validated. Data to validate six eligible models were collected in the international external validation cohort study. Data from 11 591 patients were available, with an overall postoperative pulmonary complication rate of 7·8% (n=903). None of the six models showed good discrimination (defined as AUROCC ≥0·70) for identifying postoperative pulmonary complications, with the Assess Respiratory Risk in Surgical Patients in Catalonia score showing the best discrimination (AUROCC 0·700 [95% CI 0·683–0·717]).
Interpretation
In the pre-COVID-19 pandemic data, variability in the risk of pulmonary complications (StEP-COMPAC definition) following major abdominal surgery was poorly described by existing prognostication tools. To improve surgical safety during the COVID-19 pandemic recovery and beyond, novel risk stratification tools are required.

2017/2018 Global Resources Report: Government and Philanthropic Support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex Communities
We are pleased to present The 2017–2018 Global Resources Report: Government and Philanthropic Support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex Communities, a comprehensive report on the state of foundation and government funding for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) issues. This report documents data on 19,764 grants awarded by 800 foundations, intermediary NGOs, and corporations and by 15 donor government and multilateral agencies over the two-year period of 2017–2018. The report provides detailed data on the distribution of LGBTI funding by geography, issue, strategy, and population focus, offering a tool for identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities in the rapidly changing landscape of LGBTI funding. The 2017–2018 Global Resources Report builds on two previous editions, which focused on grantmaking in the calendar years 2013–2014 and 2015–16. With this third edition, we have now documented comprehensive data through six calendar years of grantmaking, allowing us to conduct a deeper analysis of LGBTI funding trend lines over time. In many sections of this report, we offer a comparison with the previous report documenting 2015–16, and in some key places we share analysis across the full six-year period. This third report represents a continuing and evolving collaboration between two philanthropic networks, Global Philanthropy Project and Funders for LGBTQ Issues. The trust developed between these networks has enabled us to adjust the report development process over time as we identify opportunities to activate the unique competencies and assets of both networks. In this iteration of the process, Global Philanthropy Project coordinated development and analysis of the data from foundations and corporations based outside of the United States (U.S.) and from all government and multilateral institutions. Funders for LGBTQ Issues coordinated development and analysis of the data from foundations and corporations based in the U.S., and provided generous overall guidance based on more than a decade of experience producing the comprehensive annual U.S. domestic tracking report on LGBTQI funding
Multidimensional sexual perfectionism
Perfectionism is a multidimensional personality characteristic that can affect all areas of life. This article presents the first systematic investigation of multidimensional perfectionism in the domain of sexuality exploring the unique relationships that different forms of sexual perfectionism show with positive and negative aspects of sexuality. A sample of 272 university students (52 male, 220 female) completed measures of four forms of sexual perfectionism: self-oriented, partner-oriented, partner-prescribed, and socially prescribed. In addition, they completed measures of sexual esteem, sexual self-efficacy, sexual optimism, sex life satisfaction (capturing positive aspects of sexuality) and sexual problem self-blame, sexual anxiety, sexual depression, and negative sexual perfectionism cognitions during sex (capturing negative aspects). Results showed unique patterns of relationships for the four forms of sexual perfectionism, suggesting that partner-prescribed and socially prescribed sexual perfectionism are maladaptive forms of sexual perfectionism associated with negative aspects of sexuality whereas self-oriented and partner-oriented sexual perfectionism emerged as ambivalent forms associated with positive and negative aspects
