Weak Wave Turbulence Scaling Theory for Diffusion and Relative Diffusion in Turbulent Surface Waves

    Get PDF
We examine the applicability of the weak wave turbulence theory in explaining experimental scaling results obtained for the diffusion and relative diffusion of particles moving on turbulent surface waves. For capillary waves our theoretical results are shown to be in good agreement with experimental results, where a distinct crossover in diffusive behavior is observed at the driving frequency. For gravity waves our results are discussed in the light of ocean wave studies.Comment: 5 pages; for related work visit http://www.imedea.uib.es/~victo

The flows structure in unsteady gas flow in pipes with different cross-sections

The results of numerical simulation and experimental study of the structure of unsteady flows in pipes with different cross sections are presented in the article. It is shown that the unsteady gas flow in a circular pipe is axisymmetric without secondary currents. Steady vortex structures (secondary flows) are observed in pipes with cross sections in the form of a square and an equilateral triangle. It was found that these secondary flows have a significant impact on gas flows in pipes of complex configuration. On the basis of experimental researches it is established that the strong oscillatory phenomena exist in the inlet pipe of the piston engine arising after the closing of the intake valve. The placement of the profiled plots (with a cross section of a square or an equilateral triangle) in the intake pipe leads to the damping of the oscillatory phenomena and a more rapid stabilization of pulsating flow. This is due to the stabilizing effect of the vortex structures formed in the corners of this configuration. © The authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2017.Thus, in this study it was found that the cross-sectional shape of the pipe has a significant impact on the structure of the gas flow. The secondary flows (steady vortex structures) are formed in pipes with cross sections in the form of a square and an equilateral triangle. Secondary flows (steady vortex structures) in the pipe can stabilize the pulsing flows. This phenomenon can be used in the design of the intake and exhaust systems of energy machines and plants with a view to their gas-dynamic improvement. Subátomos de hidrógeno y fotosíntesis en plantas con un campo magnético.

The presence of hydrogen atoms in their subatomic states may be predicted if one accounts for the intrinsic energy of quantum movement of an electron in a proton-electron system. For this reason, a series of experiments whose purpose was to prove the presence of hydrogen subatoms was carried out. The formation of bound subatomic states of hydrogen is characterized by an observable ultraviolet radiation with a wavelength in the 206-nm region. Such radiation has been observed during photosynthesis in certain houseplants. The presence of a weak magnetic field is shown to selectively amplify this radiation.

    Resilient self-debugging software protection

Debuggers are a popular reverse engineering and tampering tool. Self-debugging is an effective technique for applications to defend themselves against hostile debuggers. In penetration tests on state-of-the-art self-debugging, we observed several opportunities through which it could be attacked, however. We therefore improved upon the existing technique, making it more resilient by introducing reciprocal debugging and making the transfers of control between protected application and self-debugger more stealthy. This paper presents the improved self-debugging design, and details our research efforts into realizing reciprocal debugging. In our evaluation we show that the improved design is significantly harder for attackers to defeat

Peculiarities of general cultural and political values transformation in Russia

The relevance of the study is due to the fact that over the past thirty years Russian state cultural policy has been focused on strengthening democratic cultural values, but in recent years the situation has begun to change dramatically. The ruling elite of the country announced the state cultural policy reorientation, which should now be based exclusively on traditional values. The purpose of the study is to identify features of the general cultural and political values system transformation in Russia. The objectives of the article are to identify current general cultural and political values that fall under the category of “traditional”, to establish value orientations that are most significant for Russians at present, and to determine degree of risk of a value split in Russian society. The research was conducted using such methods as classical document analysis, social survey, comparative analysis, systematization, and visualization methods. The results of the study show that the values accepted as traditional and the values identified by respondents as significant coincide in such positions as justice, human rights, freedom, patriotism, morality, collectivism, and mutual aid. No immediate threat of degradation of Russian society’s values has been identified. The risks associated with a possible split in society are moderate. The results of the sociological study allow us to conclude that the political views of one part of the Russian society are polarized, but the level of apolitical attitude of the other part is increasing
