    Carboxyl group (-CO2H) functionalized coordination polymer nanoparticles as efficient platforms for drug delivery

    Functionalization of nanoparticles can significantly influence their properties and potential applications. Although researchers can now functionalize metal, metal oxide, and organic polymer nanoparticles with a high degree of precision, controlled surface functionalization of nanoscale coordination polymer particles (CPPs) has remained a significant challenge. The lack of methodology is perhaps one of the greatest roadblocks to the advancement of CPPs into high added-value drug delivery applications. Here, we report having achieved this goal through a stepwise formation and functionalization protocol. We fabricated robust nanoparticles with enhanced thermal and colloidal stabilities by incorporation of carboxyl groups and these surface carboxyl groups could be subsequently functionalized through well-known peptide coupling reactions. The set of chemistries that we employed as proof-of-concept enabled a plethora of new functional improvements for the application of CPPs as drug delivery carriers, including enhanced colloidal stabilities and the incorporation of additional functional groups such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) or fluorescent dyes that enabled tracking of their cellular uptake. Finally, we ascertained the cytotoxicity of the new CPP nanoparticles loaded with camptothecin to human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7). Efflux measurements show that the encapsulation of camptothecin enhances the potency of the drug 6.5-fold and increases the drug retention within the cell.We acknowledge the financial support of the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad through project MAT2012–38318-C03–02.     Robust spin crossover platforms with synchronized spin switch and polymer phase transition

Today, even though great advances have been done with this aim, the promise of a functional device working at the micro-/nanoscale and at room temperature has unfortunately not completely materialized yet, as their use still strongly depends on the fabrication methodology of a robust device that can be handled and integrated without compromising their functionality. Here we propose the use of polymeric matrices as a platform for the development of such robust switchable structures exhibiting reproducible results independently of the dimension-from macro to micro-/nanoscale-and morphology-from thin-films to nanoparticles and nanoimprinted motives-while allowing to induce an irreversible hysteresis, reminiscent of a non-volatile memory, by synchronization with the polymer phase transition.This work was supported by project MAT2012-38318-C03-02.     Abstrak Sumatera Barat termasuk salah satu wilayah yang memiliki kerawanan bencana yang tinggi, kondisi ini dipengaruhi oleh tatanan geologi yang kompleks sehingga rawan dengan bencana geologi gempabumi. Arsitektur Rumah Gadang sebagai produk kearifan lokal yang bernilai mitigasi, merupakan sarana untuk mempertahankan dan melestarikan nilai luhur kebudayaan. Terjadinya gempa bumi di Sumatera Barat yang meluluhlantakkan sebagian daerahnya khususnya Padang dan Pariaman, masyarakat diingatkan kembali akan kemampuan rumah Gadang untuk bertahan dari sifat destruktif gempa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kearifan arsitektur rumah gadang minangkabau dalam mitigasi bencana. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan pengkajian data deskriptif dalam bentuk uraian melalui metode naturalistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: arsitektur rumah gadang Minangkabau sebagai kearifan lokal dalam mitigasi bencana merupakan suatu karya arsitektur yang seimbang dan disesuaikan dengan iklim alam yang tropis dan geologi yang labil

    Design of Targeted Nanostructured Coordination Polymers (NCPs) for Cancer Therapy

    Conventional cancer chemotherapy presents notable drug side effects due to non-selective action of the chemotherapeutics to normal cells. Nanoparticles decorated with receptor-specific ligands on the surface have shown an important role in improving site-selective binding, retention, and drug delivery to the cancer cells. This review summarizes the recent reported achievements using nanostructured coordination polymers (NCPs) with active targeting properties for cancer treatment in vitro and in vivo. Despite the controversy surrounding the effectivity of active targeting nanoparticles, several studies suggest that active targeting nanoparticles notably increase the selectivity and the cytotoxic effect in tumoral cells over the conventional anticancer drugs and non-targeted nanoparticle platform, which enhances drug efficacy and safety. In most cases, the nanocarriers have been endowed with remarkable capabilities such as stimuli-responsive properties, targeting abilities, or the possibility to be monitored by imaging techniques. Unfortunately, the lack of preclinical studies impedes the evaluation of these unique and promising findings for the translation of NCPs into clinical trials

    Peranan Lingkungan Sekolah Terhadap Pembentukan Sikap Peduli Lingkungan Di SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium Universitas Negeri Padang

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan lingkungan sekolah terhadap pembentukan sikap peduli lingkungan di SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium Universitas Negeri Padang. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 60 peserta didik. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner, studi literatur, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi statistic linier sederhana yang dilakukan dengan program SPSS 23. Hasilnya penelitian ini nilai korelasi/hubungan (R) yaitu sebesar 0,813 kemudian output koefisien determinasi (R Square) sebesar 0, 661 atau sama dengan 66,1%, yang mengandung pengertian bahwa pengaruh variabel lingkungan sekolah (X) secara simultan terhadap variabel pembentukan sikap peduli lingkungan (Y) adalah sebesar 66,1%. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa pengaruh lingkungan sekolah terhadap pembentukan sikap peduli lingkungan sesuai dengan interval koefisien yaitu 0,60 - 0,799 yang masuk dalam kategori kuat. Diperoleh nilai F hitung = 113,287 > F table = 4,00 untuk nilai signifikan sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 maka Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima, dan hasil uji regresi linier sederhana yaitu Y = 2,041 + 0,943X. Dari sini dapat disimpulkan bahwa adanya pengaruh positif signifikan antara variabel lingkungan sekolah (X) terhadap variabel pembentukan sikap peduli lingkungan (Y). Semakin baik peranan lingkungan sekolah maka pembentukan sikap peduli lingkungan juga akan semakin meningkat

    Analisis Sadar Bencana Melalui Pembelajaran Geografi: Studi Literatur

    Penelitian ini bertujuan memberikan deskripsi terkait pendidikan geografi melalui pembelajaran geografi dalam rangka peningkatan kesadaran bencana. Penelitian ini disusun dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan melakukan studi literatur berdasarkan penelitian yang berhubungan dengan penelitian ini. Hasil analisis literatur menunjukan bahwa Pembelajaran geografi memiliki peran yang krusial dalam meningkatkan kesadaran bencana di kalangan siswa. Dalam konteks ini, pemahaman akan faktor-faktor yang memicu bencana alam, seperti topografi, iklim, dan geologi, menjadi landasan yang penting. Melalui pembelajaran geografi, siswa tidak hanya memahami bagaimana lingkungan fisik memengaruhi terjadinya bencana, tetapi juga dapat mengidentifikasi daerah-daerah yang rentan terhadap ancaman tersebut. Selain itu, pembelajaran geografi memberikan wawasan yang mendalam tentang dampak sosial dan ekonomi dari bencana. Siswa belajar tentang kerentanan sosial, distribusi kerusakan, dan ketidaksetaraan dalam pemulihan pasca-bencana, yang semuanya merupakan aspek penting dalam pemahaman menyeluruh tentang bencana. Pendekatan pembelajaran yang melibatkan proyek, teknologi, dan studi kasus membantu siswa mengembangkan keterampilan praktis, seperti analisis spasial, pemetaan risiko, dan pengambilan keputusan berbasis data, yang esensial dalam manajemen bencana. Selain itu, pembelajaran geografi juga berpotensi untuk mempengaruhi sikap dan perilaku siswa terkait bencana. Dengan menjadi lebih sadar akan pentingnya kesiapsiagaan dan mitigasi bencana, siswa menjadi lebih cenderung terlibat dalam upaya perlindungan diri sendiri dan komunitas mereka, membentuk masyarakat yang lebih tangguh terhadap ancaman bencana ala

    Independent Curriculum is an educational concept that provides freedom, flexibility, and creativity in the teaching and learning process. In Indonesia, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum aims to create learning that is more in line with the development and needs of students. This study aims to determine the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Geography learning at SMA Negeri 1 Banuhampu, Agam Regency. This study uses a qualitative research approach with a qualitative descriptive research type that focuses on the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Geography learning at SMA Negeri 1 Banuhampu, Agam Regency. The subjects in this study consisted of the Vice Principal for Curriculum and Geography teachers, as well as students at the school. Data collection methods and techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out with the stages of data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to conclude existing findings based on the data that had been analyzed. Based on the results of the study, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Geography learning at SMA Negeri 1 Banuhampu showed significant efforts from the school in making the policy a success. In planning, the school has prepared learning tools that are adjusted to the principles of the Independent Curriculum, by involving teachers in training and workshops to improve their understanding of this curriculum. The implementation of the curriculum in the classroom is carried out with a more flexible method, providing space for students to explore the material independently and actively. Evaluation of the implementation of the curriculum is carried out through observation and feedback from students and teachers, which shows that this curriculum has succeeded in creating a more enjoyable and interactive learning atmosphere, although there are still challenges in terms of fulfilling facilities and the readiness of some educators who need to be further encouraged
