THE USE OF WORKBOOK TO TEACH ENGLISH AT SLTPN 4 BATU
Instructional material is an important element in the teaching and learning process. There are many kinds of sources can be used by the teacher to convey material to the students. Besides using textbook, the teacher needs supplementary material from other sources, for example; the use of workbook. Workbook functions as supplementing the textbook program in skills, aiding in maintaining good language habits. Workbook provides many exercises for the students to help them study English. The purposes of this study are to know the relevance of workbook used by the teacher and the students at SLTPN 04 Batu with the curriculum, to know how the teacher used workbook, and the students used workbook and students’ perceptions about the use of workbook at SLTPN 04 Batu. This study is descriptive one. In this case, the writer used three research subjects, those are; workbook (prestasi), the teacher and the students of second grade of SLTPN 04 Batu. The instruments used in this research were structured questionnaire, observation checklist and document. In eliciting the data using questionnaire, the writer grouped the students’ answers based on the occurrence of the items in each question. Then the writer converted score into percentage. From the data above, the writer could conclude the result of the questionnaire. The observation checklist was analyzed to answer how the teacher and the students used the workbook. The research problem number one was answered by analyzing the workbook. Based on the research finding, the writer concluded that the workbook used by the teacher and the students was relevance to the Basic Course Outline, the teacher and the students used this workbook as supplementary material in learning English, and the students’ perceived positively toward the workbook used in the teaching and learning process because this workbook helped them to study English

Given that the importance of creativity, liveliness, and academic achievement in students, the researcher interested in applying one of a very good method to make students more creative and active and to support academic achievement. In this case by using the learning model with the type of teacher everyone is here, because this type of learning is considered able to explore the level of activity and creativity of students, which activity and creativity will have an impact on student achievement. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of descriptive research. The data is taken from observations of student activity, divergent berbikir ability test as a measure for the level of creativity, and tests students' mastery learning. While the source of the data in this study were the students of class VII-E SMP N 3 Batu, who becomes the object of research is to model the type
of cooperative learning Teacher Everyone Is Here (ETH).
From the results of research conducted shows that the average value of student learning activities from the meeting I to III is always increasing with the average percentage of students' activities after the three meetings of 56.28%. Percentage of student creativity from the meeting I to III is always increased with a percentage - average student creativity after three meetings on the level of creativity of students in a class by 66.65%, percentage - average student creativity after three
meetings based on the components of divergent thinking in students one class at 66.65%, while the percentage of students in individual creativity levels are at intervals of 55% - 70% with a good enough category. The average value of the final test students' mastery of 90.32%. Because
the percentage of mastery learning students are in the interval between 85% - 100% then the mastery learning students terrmasuk category "very good". Based on these results, it can be suggested in order to conduct further research with ETH incorporate cooperative learning model
with other learning models and dijenjang higher
PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA KOMIK FRENCH SERVICE SEBAGAI SUMBER BELAJAR SISWA KELAS X JURUSAN JASA BOGA SMK N 1 KALASAN
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) mengembangkan komik French Service yang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber belajar siswa kelas X Jurusan Jasa Boga di SMK N 1 Kalasan dan 2) mengetahui kelayakan komik French Service untuk digunakan sebagai sumber belajar siswa kelas X Jurusan Jasa Boga di SMK N 1 Kalasan.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah research and development yang dilaksanakan selama 10 bulan, yaitu mulai bulan September 2011 sampai Juni 2012. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah 33 orang siswa kelas X Jurusan Jasa Boga SMK 1 Kalasan, sedangkan obyek penelitian adalah komik French Service. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi dan menggunakan angket. Pengukuran validitas instrumen yang digunakan oleh ahli media dan ahli materi dilakukan melalui expert judgement, sedangkan angket yang digunakan oleh siswa dihitung dengan korelasi product moment dengan hasil dari 17 butir pernyataan, 15 butir valid dan 2 butir tidak valid. pengukuran reliabilitas instrument dilakukan dengan rumus alpha cronbarch dengan skor 0, 823 yang berarti reliabel. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif.
Hasil penelitian yaitu:1) Pengembangan Komik French Service dilakukan melalui a) analisis kebutuhan, b) perencanaan pengembangan produk yang terdiri dari pengumpulan materi French Service, perancangan synopsis cerita dan scenario komik, dan pembuatan desain/sketsa produk, c) pengembangan produk yang terdiri dari proses pembuatan komik dan proses pencetakan komik French Service, d) penilaian kelayakan produk oleh ahli media dan ahli materi, e) ujicoba kelompok kecil, f) uji coba lapangan dan g) penyempurnaan produk akhir, 2) Hasil penilaian kelayakan produk oleh ahli media menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan, tingkat kelayakan komik French Service adalah 86% dan termasuk kategori sangat layak, sedangkan menurut ahli materi, tingkat kelayakan komik French Service adalah 75% atau termasuk kategori layak. Ujicoba lapangan awal menunjukkan tingkat kelayakan komik French Service adalah 86% yang termasuk kategori sangat layak dan uji coba lapangan menunjukkan tingkat kelayakan komik French Service adalah 81% yang termasuk kategori sangat layak
PENGECATAN ULANG MOBIL MITSUBISHI MINICAB TAHUN 1983 BAGIAN DEPAN DAN BELAKANG
Pengecatan ulang mobil Mitsubishi Minicab tahun 1983 bagian depan dan belakang bertujuan agar diperoleh hasil cat yang bagus. Dapat membandingkan dan mengetahui hasil yang diperoleh pada proses pengecatan sebelum perbaikan pengecatan dilakukan dan sesudahnya. Proses pengecatan ulang mobil Mitsubishi Minicab tahun 1983 bagian depan dan belakang meliputi persiapan permukaan serta proses perbaikan yang dilakaukan yaitu mengelupas cat dan dempul, pengelasan, pengentengan, pendempulan, pengamplasan, proses masking, surfacer, pengecatan, clear, dan proses polishing. Alat yang dibutuhkan untuk proses rekondisi bodi dan pengecatan bodi mobil Mitsubishi Minicab tahun 1983 antara lain las asetilin, gerenda, scrap, palu, hand blok, kompresor, spray gun. Bahan yang dibutuhkan untuk proses Pengecatan ulang mobil Mitsubishi Minicab tahun 1983 antara lain dempul, amplas, kertas masking (koran), surfacer, spot putty, cat, clear, serta compound. Hasil akhir pengecatan dinilai dari beberapa poin yaitu pendempulan bodi, kerataan dempul, kerataan warna cat, glossy cat, mata ikan, kulit jeruk, meleleh, mengkerut, lubang kecil, tanda dempul, goresan amplas, dan bintik. Hasil akhir pengecatan ulang mobil Mitsubishi Minicab tahun 1983 bagian depan dan belakang mencapai hasil akhir yang mendapatkan nilai rata-rata keseluruhan 81,82. Hasil tersebut jika diukur dari tabel ktiteria penilaian maka tergolong dalam kriteria baik. The Community Increasing Participation in Developing Infrastructure on National Standard Schools at Brebes District
National Standard Schools are examples or real manifestations of schools that develop themselves to meet the National Education Standard. The first step that the National Standard School usually does is developing their infrastructures. The development of the infrastructures is generally funded by the government annual budget. However, in fact, the budget is limited. On the other hand, the burden of the school to hold their educational activities is very heavy. Therefore, it is necessary to have a community participation in developing the school infrastructures. Research approach used is the combined approach of quantitative and qualitative sampling techniques using proportional sampling technique. The analysis includes quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis as well as using cross tabulation analysis to formulate a direction to find community participation in infrastructure development activities at Brebes National Standard School. Finally, the result of the research shows that the infrastructures of the school being studied, in fact, have met the infrastructures of National Education Standard. Commonly, the characteristics of the community are state officers and university graduates who have income or salary ranging from IDR 1,5 millions to IDR 3 millions. The participations that are generally given by the parents on infrastructure development activities in junior National Standard Schools are donated money or funds
Kamasutra1 Journalism; Degradation of News Quality in Online Media in Indonesia
Online media in Indonesia is called secondary journalism as it gives priority on speed and tends to ignore other journalism principles such as accuracy and completeness. ‘Kamasutra journalism’ is another label for this platform since it provides space for discussing sexuality vulgarly, particularly during the boom of the ‘Ariel and Luna Maya2 porn video case’. This study applies the theory of determination technology (Marshall Mc Luhan; 1962) to explain how technology has influenced the newsroom. Exploration on media routines (Pamela J. Shoemaker; 1991) is done to get in-depth description of how the production of online news is occurred and how the quality of reporting is affected by the use of the internet. The results of this study indicate that internet technology has contributed to the degradation of news quality. It happens when the media industry forces the editor to defeat old platforms by maximizing internet superiority such us quickness, interactivity, etc
A STUDY OF THE MESSAGES ON SPICE GIRLS’ SONG LYRIC “GOODBYE”
Literature is human’s expression. It is divided into drama, novel, poem, and also song. Song is one of the literary works that has beautiful words on it like figurative language, diction, and also imagery. The problems of this study are analyzing the detailed, general meaning, and also the messages of Spice Girls’ song “Goodbye”. This study used the descriptive qualitative because this research started with collecting reviewing research literature to provide the data. This research used objective approach because that is the story of Spice Girls. Thus, the object of this study was Spice Girls’ song lyrics “Goodbye” in the form of lines and sentences. The detailed meaning of the song lyrics “Goodbye” tells about the parting between Spice Girls and X-member of Spice Girls “Gerry Haliwell”. She leaves Spice Girls because she wants to find out her own way to be a solo career. Although they are not together anymore but Spice Girls still love her and Gerry will always be in their heart. The song also describes about their togetherness in the past both in joy and sorrow. However, although they are not together anymore but Spice Girls will always help and support Gerry’s way. The general meaning of the song tells about the parting between Spice Girls and X-member of Spice Girls “Gerry Haliwell”. She has gone to leave them to find out her own way because she wants to be a solo career. The messages of the song lyrics “Goodbye” reminds us not to dissolve ourselves into the pain and never regret the parting because nothing is immortal in this life. HUBUNGAN ANTARA HARGA DIRI DENGAN PENYESUAIAN SOSIAL PADA REMAJA KELAS X DI SMA NEGRI 2 SITUBONDO
Self-value is need for everyone especially for adolescents. Wisely speaking, self-value correlated to any adolescent behaviours such as ganking, drugging, reletionship, and even prestice in school achievements. Related to the adolescent phase, the results of many researches conducted in different countries indicate that the most significant period in establashing the development of anyone’s self-value is the adolescent phase. In this phase, the dependentcy of child to the family is quite decrease in which they will be more often spend their times with their friends. Because of they oftenly hang out the house, we can understood that they must carry out good social engangement in order to be received by their surroundings as well as they capable to prevent and avoid any behaviours that unlikely to the society. In the adolescent phase, self-value is the prime things to have in order to be received by the social surroundings and even by their friedsmate.
Wisely speaking, by having good self-value helps someone to perform good social engagements. Based on the review above, the researcher interested to conduct a research entitle “The Correlation Between Self-value and Social Engagements at SMAN 2 Situbondo”. This reserch is non-experimental reserch desaign where rating scales which is well-known as Likert Scale, includes scale of self-value and scale of social engangements, is used as the research instument. The questionaires distribute on june,9 to 10 2008 trought substructing the samples from 70 students either male and female at SMAN 2 Situbondo using quota random sampling techkniqes. The analyses techniques that is applied in this research is Product moment analyses. The results of this research indicates that there is positives and very extremely significant Correlation between self-value and social engangement which can be known trought the the coeficient correlation (r) i.e 0,611 by missinterpretation (p) 0,000 . It means that the higher the (p) of sel-value, the better the social enggagement will be. In other words, the researcher conclude that if the self-value indicates positives, the better the social enggagement will be but contrastly speraking, if the self-value enggagement indicates negatives, the worst the social enggagement will be. While the contribution of self-value to the social engagement is effectiv by 37,3% and the rest is affective by other factors i.e 62,7%
Cabaran pelajar antarabangsa di Kolej Kediaman UTHM
Setiap pelajar mempunyai pelbagai cabaran tersendiri semasa mereka mengikuti
pengajian di peringkat universiti. Cabaran ini terpaksa dilalui oleh mereka dan besar
kemungkinan ianya akan mempengaruhi pencapaian akademik pelajar. Oleh sebab
itu, kajian ini dilakukan untuk mengenal pasti masalah dominan yang dihadapi oleh
pelajar antarabangsa yang tinggal di Kolej Kediaman UTHM. Masalah penyesuaian
yang dikaji meliputi akademik, sosial dan peribadi-emosi. Selain itu, kajian ini
dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti tahap keselesaan interaksi dalam kalangan pelajar
antarabangsa. Perbezaan antara masalah yang dihadapi dengan ciri-ciri demografi
juga turut dikaji. Kajian berbentuk tinjauan deskriptif dan inferensi ini menggunakan
borang soal selidik sebagai instrumen di mana ia melibatkan 98 orang pelajar
antarabangsa yang tinggal di Kolej Kediaman UTHM. Data yang diperoleh telah
dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan Rasch Model melalui perisian Winstep versi
3.69. Hasil kajian mendapati (i) masalah penyesuaian sosial dilihat sebagai masalah
dominan yang dihadapi oleh pelajar antarabangsa dengan nilai mean measure 0.18
logit; (ii) tahap keselesaan interaksi dalam kalangan pelajar antarabangsa pula berada
pada tahap sederhana dengan nilai skor min 2.70; (iii) tiada perbezaan yang
signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian akademik dengan CPA; (iv) tiada perbezaan
yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian sosial dengan CPA; (v) tiada perbezaan
yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian peribadi-emosi dengan CPA; (vi) tiada
perbezaan yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian akademik dengan negara;
(vii) tiada perbezaan yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian sosial dengan
negara; (viii) terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian
peribadi-emosi dengan negara. Diharap maklumat daripada tulisan ini akan
memberikan kesedaran dan manfaat bagi semua mengenai isu berkaitan dengan
cabaran pelajar antarabangsa untuk kesejahteraan warga dan organisasi
