    Genipin modified silk fibroin nanometric-nets

    Nanometric silk-fibroin nets were fabricated by electrospinning from regenerated Bombyx mori silk-fibroin (SF)/formic acid solutions with the addition of genipin (GE), 2, 15 and 24 h after the solution preparation. After spinning, the pure fibroin nanofibers were water soluble and needed a further stabilization process, whereas the reaction of fibroin with genipin resulted in water-insoluble fibroin nets due to conformational changes induced in the fibroin by the genipin. SFGE nanofibers presented diameters ranging from 140 to 590 nm and were generally thinner than pure SF nanofibers. The secondary structure of SF into SFGE nanofibers showed the presence of a β-sheet conformation together with β-turn intermediates (turns and bends). The approach described in this paper provides an alternative method of designing SF nanofibers that are already water insoluble, without any stability post-treatment needed

    The corrphycene mol­ecule of the title compound, [Cu(C36H36N4O4)]0.034.0.966C36H38N4O4, has an essentially planar macrocyclic framwork with a slightly distorted trapezoidal N4 core; the r.m.s. deviation of the peripheral 20 C atoms and four N atoms is 0.054 (3) Å. The surface area within the N4-coordinating core (8.358 Å2) is significantly smaller than that (8.503 Å2) of the corresponding free-base porphyrin. Two intra­molecular N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds are observed. Detailed structure analysis clarified that the co-crystallization of the free-base corrphycene together with a quite minor component (ca 3%) of corrphycenato–CuII occurred in the recrystallization process

    A Very Fast Three-Dimensional Impurity Profile Simulation Incorporating An Accumulated Diffusion Length and Its Application to the Design of Power MOSFETs

    In this paper, we introduce a method for the fast simulation of 3D impurity profile simulation We analytically integrated the approximated non-linear transport equation and derived an analytical equation of 3D non-linear diffusion by introducing a new physical parameter, called the Accumulated Diffusion Length (ADL). This method allows us to simulate a 3D-profile by using a coupled 1D simulator and analytical equations, where the ADL is obtained during 1D simulation. Our new methodology is implemented in the 3D process simulator, SPIRIT-IWADL. Our 3D-TCAD system composed of SPIRIT-IIIIADL and our in-house device simulator was applied to the design of 3D-shaped power MOSFETs. 1

    Electrical storm reversible by isoproterenol infusion in a striking case of early repolarization

    A 40-year-old woman was referred to intensive care unit after recurrent ventricular fibrillation. She was free of cardiac medical history or medications. The resting ECG displayed an extended early repolarization in the inferior leads and all the precordial leads. Incessant ventricular fibrillations justified a treatment by intravenous amiodarone associated with general anaesthesia and mechanical ventilation without success on ventricular fibrillation. Because of a low heart rate intravenous isoproterenol infusion was initiated. Isoproterenol infusion was associated with heart rate acceleration and a decrease in J point elevation and the disappearance of ventricular fibrillation episodes. No cardiac disease was documented and the patient was implanted of a single chamber ICD. Six months later the patient was free of syncope and ventricular fibrillation on ICD memory. This case report demonstrates the usefulness and efficiency of the isoproterenol infusion to eliminate recurrent ventricular fibrillation in patients with early repolarization
