Syrian Refugees and Quality of Education in Jordan
The Syria crisis has considered the world's largest humanitarian crisis since World
War II. In other words, it has triggered the world's biggest refugee's crisis currently.
Jordan has topped a list of ten countries which host more than half of the world’s
refugees, according to an Amnesty International (AI) report. Jordan, which has taken
in over 2.7 million refugees, was ranked as the top refugee-hosting countr
An improved digital watermarking algorithm using combination of least significant bit (LSB) and inverse bit
Software watermarking is one of the most important methods for protecting copyrights
and authenticating ownership; which can be used to prevent software piracy. In order to
provide high quality watermarked image, the watermarked image should be
imperceptible. Least significant bit (LSB) is a technique that has been used for digital
watermarking. Many researchers have improved LSB to embed watermark in the image.
In this thesis, we introduce an improved digital watermarking algorithm using least
significant bit (LSB). This method is chosen due to its minimal effect on the image. LSB
is used by inversing the binary values of the watermark text and shifting the watermark
according to the odd or even number of pixel coordinates of image before embedding
the watermark. The proposed algorithm can be personalized according to the length of
the watermark text. If the length of the watermark text is more than ((M*N)/8)-2 (where
M*N is the amount of pixels in the image), the proposed algorithm will also embed the
extra of the watermark text in the second LSB. We compare our proposed algorithm
with the 1-LSB algorithm and Lee’s algorithm and Yang's algorithm using Peak signalto-noise ratio (PSNR). The value of the watermarked dock image is 54.5691 dB which is
higher than the traditional LSB 53.6950 dB and Lee's algorithm 53.7041 db and Yang's
algorithm 52.4518 dB. Also in the other image, the proposed algorithm got the highest
value of PSNR. This improved algorithm improved its quality of the watermarked
image. We also attack the watermarked image by using cropping and adding noise and
we got good results as wel
Challenge and potential of future agricultural development in Jordan:role of education and entrepreneurship
The paper examines the status of agriculture development in Jordan, current challenges and potential of future development.
Aim of the study is to find out the role of education and entrepreneurship in fostering agriculture development in Jordan
through: introducing new technologies into the sector; applying modern and global marketing perspective, and youth
entrepreneurship empowerment. This study is based on theoretical approach based on secondary research, and primary
research includes two surveys were carried out at this study. Like various studies this study confirmed that water scarcity is the
main challenge facing agriculture development in Jordan, and the sector is less developed than other sectors in the country.
Nevertheless, this study added that youth entrepreneurship low participation in the sector is not only due to financial shortage
and youth insufficient knowledge, but it's due to their low attitude to working in agriculture too. Therefore, it is suggested that
there is a need for significant paradigm shift in the education system to meet the needs of the market. Also utilizing the role of
R&D to enhance the management of water resources and emphasize desalination and wastewater reuse, and change youth's
attitude to working in agriculture. Add to the aforementioned that there is a need to provide more financial and technical support
to attract and help youth entrepreneurs to invest in the sector
Coordinated cadastral system for Peninsular Malaysia : from concept to reality
The main objectives of conducting cadastral surveys that had been promulgated in the early days of its practice have since been continually adhered to and later came to be adopted as amongst the principal functions of DSMM. They were stated in the Survey Regulations (DSMM, 1976) as follows: “(a) To provide evidence which will completely and permanently identify the land conveyed by any title issued by government. (b) To compile and make available records of alienation necessary for intelligent land administration.
An update of a simulation study of passively heated residemtial buildings
A simulation study of passively heated residential buildings” published in Procedia Engineering 2015 showed how circulating 15-17ºC water from a 50-m deep U-tube to a floor radiator and solar-heated water from a 30 evacuated tube solar collector and a 2-m3 indoor tank to a wall radiator could keep a 30-m2 Melbourne, Australia house thermally comfortable. This paper presents a summary of the ongoing review of publications together with three updates: - (1) Report on that water heated by a 100-metre deep U-tube is 22-24ºC, i.e., 2-4 ºC warmer than thermal comfort temperature. (2) May 2016 experimental validations of the simulated results which show that when the outdoors is below 10ºC, the temperature of the floor radiator is 2-4ºC less than the 15-17ºC water heated by a 50-m deep U-tube and 25 W fish tank pumps could circulate the waters. (3) Simulations with the addition of phase change materials (PCM) to inside faces show that though a PCM halves the diurnal indoor temperature variations, it confirms that such PCM does not significantly increase the 20ºC temperature in a 2-m3 storage tank at the end of winter. Therefore, the size of intersessional thermal storage would be a problem for family-sized houses. German Guidelines indicate that 1-2 boreholes could provide enough heat for family-sized houses. The heat extracted in winter can be replenished in summer. Thus the geothermal heat from about 100-m deep boreholes with 22-24ºC bottom temperature could sustainably keep residential buildings in cool climates similar to Melbourne's cool temperate thermally comfortable

Bodies tell stories: Freudian hysteria in Fay Weldon's The Life and Loves of a She-Devil
Fay Weldon's The Life and Loves of a She-Devil deals with the nature of the hysteric psychological state women in abusive relationships or situations may suffer from and how they may react in either passively relenting to these conditions or taking control of their lives to achieve change. Thus, the question is raised as to whether the hysteric condition may be used as a means to an end. Women's Freudian hysterical symptoms are often physically manifested by anorexia nervosa, loss of speech (muteness), disturbed sleep, and alienation, among other maladies which may be subsumed under the category of symptoms of Freudian hysteria. Such symptoms, according to Freud, appear as the consequences of sexual violations a subject may have encountered, resulting in the manifestation of psychological disturbances characteristic of hysteria. This paper aims to investigate Fay Weldon's The Life and Loves of a She-Devil from Freud's theoretical perspectives on hysteria in order to indicate the influences of hysteria and its symptoms and reactions, focusing on the actions taken by the heroine of the novel under discussion to actualise herself
Ethnic and religious tolerance: barrier factors and improvement measures based on Malay youth perspectives in Malaysia
Ethnic and religious unity is a thing that every country wishes for not exempting Malaysia. Tolerance among the population is very much expected to achieve this. Nevertheless, ethnic and religious diversity in Malaysia is often seen as a challenge for realizing tolerance and thus creating unity. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze the barrier factors for ethnic and religious tolerance while at the same time identifying proposals for improvement measures to tolerance among the community. Hence, the Focus Group Discussion or FGD study design was used by involving 20 Malay youth informants as information providers. As a result of the analysis it can be concluded that there are six themes that exist as a barrier factor to ethnic and religious tolerance, namely (i) social gap; 38.06 percent, (ii) political debate; 16.42 percent, (iii) religious differences; 16.42 percent, (iv) economic inequality; 11.94 percent, (v) rights and constitution; 11.94 percent, and (vi) primordial sentiment; 5.22 percent. Meanwhile, in addressing the problem of ethnic and religious tolerance, the informants also proposed four perspectives on improvement measures i.e. (i) social empowerment; 71.19 percent, (ii) political role; 15.25 percent, (iii) the rule of law; 10.17 percent, and (iv) maintaining the image of Islam; 3.39 percent. The issues are important to be scrutinized because the practice of good ethnic and religious tolerance can unite the community, thereby driving the stability and progress of the country
Psychometric properties of organisational structure scale in the Malaysian public service agencies: Preliminary results
Organisational structure has been assessed with various different scales resulting in inconsistencies in the measures of this construct. Hence, a re-conceptualisation of the organisational structure construct is crucial due to the fact that researchers have thus far provided inconclusive agreement on what dimensions should be included in measuring organisational structure, although many studies have conceptualized organisational structure as a multidimensional construct. This study attempted to examine the psychometric properties of the organisational structure construct by integrating four subscales – decision making, hierarchy of authority, job codification, and rule observation. A priori proposition was made that organisational structure measurement could be explained by four of the hypothesised dimensions. SPSS version 12 and AMOS 4 were used to analyse the data. Findings supported the hypothesis that organisational structure can be measured by the four aforementioned subscales. Findings also showed acceptable internal consistency reliability for the overall and the four specific subscales of organisational structure latent construct
