La versatilitat d'aquests compostos i les seves aplicacions en camps tan diversos com la medicina o la indústria química, han despertat l'interés dels investigadors per poder sintetitzar-los amb materials assequibles i facilitar la seva producció comercial. Aquesta recerca s'ha centrat en l'obtenció d'un nou tipus de dendrímers.Los dendrímeros son un nuevo tipo de polímeros que se caracterizan por tener una estructura tridimensional en forma ramificada como un árbol. La versatilidad de estos compuestos y sus aplicaciones en campos tan diversos como la medicina o la industria química, han despertado el interés de los investigadores para poder sintetizarlos con materiales asequibles y facilitar su producción comercial. Determining neutralino parameters in Left-Right Supersymmetric Models

We report exact analytical expressions relating the fundamental parameters describing the neutralino sector in the context of the left-right supersymmetric model. The method used for such a effects is the projector formalism deduced without take into account the Jarlskog's projector formulae. Also, expressions for the neutralino masses and the neutralino mixing matrix are determined . The results are compared with numerical and analytical ones obtained in similar scenarios in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model.Comment: 34 pages, 23 figure

Economic Impact of Hospital Closure on Rural Communities in Three Southern States: Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas. A Quasi-Experimental Approach.

The important contribution of hospitals to the economies of rural areas has been the subject of several research studies. The results, however, have been contradictory. This paper analyzes the economic impact of rural hospital closures on rural communities in Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas in the period 1998-2000 by using a quasi-experimental control group method. The results indicate that rural communities that suffered hospital closures were not affected in economic terms relative to those that did not suffer such a closure.Health Economics and Policy,

Gamma-ray upper limits on magnetars with 6 years of Fermi-LAT observations

We report on the search for gamma-ray emission from 20 magnetars using 6 years of Fermi, Large Area Telescope (LAT) observations. No significant evidence for gamma-ray emission from any of the currently-known magnetars is found. We derived the most stringent upper limits to date on the 0.1--10 GeV emission of Galactic magnetars, which are estimated between $\sim10^{-12}-10^{-11}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$. Gamma-ray pulsations were searched for the four magnetars having reliable ephemerides over the observing period, but none were detected. L’Educació en valors a les classe d'educació física als instituts

Curs 2012-2013l’educació física esdevé un excel·lent camp d’actuació per educar en valors a l’alumnat, sent aquesta una necessitat social existent segons els experts. El propòsit d’aquesta investigació és saber com i de quina manera s’educa en valors a les classes d’educació física, si és que es fa, i des d’un punt de vista del professorat. A través d’una recerca teòrica en l’àmbit, complementada amb 4 entrevistes a professorat d’educació física en actiu i amb més de 20 anys d’experiència, s’analitza qualitativament l’estat actual de l’educació en valors als instituts. L’anàlisi del marc teòric ressalta la importància que per desenvolupar aquests valors personals i socials, cal seguir un procés adequat, planificat i conscient per part del professorat. La part aplicada de l’estudi suggereix que en general es tenen en compte valors com el respecte i la cooperació durant el transcurs de les classes d’educació física, però que no es desenvolupen de forma eficient per manca de recursos i per infravalorar la seva importància. La investigació conclou que l’educació en valors als instituts, ha de ser una tasca transversal i coordinada amb d’altres agents fora d’aquest àmbit escolar, com són els entrenadors/es de clubs esportius, els pares i les mares i d’altres institucions implicades en el procés educatiu de l’alumnat. A partir d’aquesta anàlisi es vol promoure l’educació física com a eina per desenvolupar els valors en l’alumnat.Physical Education becomes an excellent field of intervention to educate students in values, this being an existing social necessity according to experts. The purpose of this research is to assess how values, if done at all, are being taught in physical education classes and from the teachers’ point of view. Through a theoretical research in the field supplemented by personal interviews with four active physical education teachers with over 20 years of experience, the state of education in values in High School is analyzed. In order to develop these social and personal values, the theoretical analysis high lights the importance of teachers following an adequate and consciously planned process. The applied part of the study suggests that values such as respect and cooperation are generally considered during the course of physical education classes; but that they are not developed efficiently due to lack of resources and underestimated importance. The research concludes that education in values in High School, should be across-sectional task that should be coordinated with other agents outside the school environment, such as coaches sports clubs, parents and other institutions involved in the education of students. Results from this analysis underline the importance of promoting physical education as a tool to develop students’ values
