Guided by the light: Roost choice and behaviour of urban Rainbow Lorikeets (Trichoglossus haematodus)
1. The formation of large communal roosts is a conspicuous phenomenon associated with a wide range of bird species successfully exploiting urban environments. In many Australian cities, the abundance of the Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus), a native parrot, has increased markedly in recent decades, with the species roosting in very large numbers within suburban sites. These roosting locations are noisy and cause significant fouling of the land beneath, resulting in conflict with humans.2. We investigated the selection of roosting sites in this species in Brisbane, Australia, by comparing characteristics of both the general sites of these roosts as well as individual trees used within roosting sites and trees that were avoided.3. Lorikeets used a wide variety of tree types for roosting but demonstrated a clear preference for clumped trees within sparsely treed areas that received significantly more artificial light at night than otherwise suitable sites and trees nearby.4. These features of roosting sites may enhance the detection of nocturnal predators by Rainbow Lorikeets, suggesting a potential positive impact of anthropogenic lighting. Our findings provide valuable insights into the management of roost-related conflicts in urban areas. We encourage further investigations into the possible benefits of artificial light
EVALUASI KEBIJAKAN PEMESANAN DAN PENGEMBANGAN ALTERNASTIF MODEL PEMESANAN SUKU CADANG BERDASARKAN KRITERIA BIAYA (Studi Kasus di PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia,Tbk – Sidoarjo)
ABSTRAKSI
menjalankan mesin produksinya (mesin Buhler), yaitu Beater Shell, Screen, Roll Shell,
(Q*=38934, r*=1116, SS=156, TC=EUR 769,241); Screen (Q*=120, r*=93, SS=15,
TC=EUR 1.837,175); Roll Shell (Q*=19, r*=11, SS=2, TC=EUR 1.436,939); Die (Q*=3,
r*=2, SS=0, TC=EUR 1.631,651)
Usulan Acceptance Sampling Plan Untuk Tape Yarn Produk Geotex 250 Studi Kasus: PT. Unggul Karya Semesta - Bogor
Acceptance sampling plan is an application of quality control system that creates a sampling technique with certain sample size and specification limit. To plan this, it has to determine the value of variables, such as probability of rejecting good lot (producer\u27s risk), probability of accepting poor lot (consumer\u27s risk), good average quality, poor average quality, and process standard deviation. These variables will determine the sample size and acceptance specification limit. The result is a plan which the inspected sample size is 13 tape yarns, then its strength per denier (tenacity) is measured. If the sample average is equal to or more than 5,9 gram/D, accept lot; otherwise, reject lot
Diagnostic Molecular Markers for Phosphine Resistance in US Populations of Tribolium castaneum and Rhyzopertha dominica

Diagnostic Molecular Markers for Phosphine Resistance in US Populations of Tribolium castaneum and Rhyzopertha dominica. Plos One, 10(3), 14. doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0121343Stored product beetles that are resistant to the fumigant pesticide phosphine (hydrogen phosphide) gas have been reported for more than 40 years in many places worldwide. Traditionally, determination of phosphine resistance in stored product beetles is based on a discriminating dose bioassay that can take up to two weeks to evaluate. We developed a diagnostic cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence method, CAPS, to detect individuals with alleles for strong resistance to phosphine in populations of the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum, and the lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica, according to a single nucleotide mutation in the dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase (DLD) gene. We initially isolated and sequenced the DLD genes from susceptible and strongly resistant populations of both species. The corresponding amino acid sequences were then deduced. A single amino acid mutation in DLD in populations of T. castaneum and R. dominica with strong resistance was identified as P45S in T. castaneum and P49S in R. dominica, both collected from northern Oklahoma, USA. PCR products containing these mutations were digested by the restriction enzymes MboI and BstNI, which revealed presence or absence, respectively of the resistant (R) allele and allowed inference of genotypes with that allele. Seven populations of T. castaneum from Kansas were subjected to discriminating dose bioassays for the weak and strong resistance phenotypes. Application of CAPS to these seven populations confirmed the R allele was in high frequency in the strongly resistant populations, and was absent or at a lower frequency in populations with weak resistance, which suggests that these populations with a low frequency of the R allele have the potential for selection of the strong resistance phenotype. CAPS markers for strong phosphine resistance will help to detect and confirm resistant beetles and can facilitate resistance management actions against a given pest population
Unlocking Transport Innovation: A Sociotechnical Perspective of the Logics of Transport Planning Decision-Making within the Trial of a New Type of Pedestrian Crossing
This paper considers the proposal to install a novel type of pedestrian crossing, as part of a neighbourhood intervention, to investigate the architecture of decision-making that influences the delivery and outcomes of our urban environments. While political and policy-making directions often signal a movement towards providing better active transport options and safer urban environments for pedestrians and cyclists, delivering projects that achieve such goals can prove challenging, time-consuming and be marred by conflict. Innovative projects can stagnate, diminish in scale or fail to be
realised entirely. The exact causes of these less than ideal outcomes are difficult to determine as they involve a complex sociotechnical assemblage of various actors, institutions, resources and logics. The architecture of decision-making that surrounds these projects is created through a myriad of de jure and de facto actors that, in concert, affect the material construction of neighbourhoods and shape our homes, towns and cities
In Auckland, the regional Road Controlling Authority (RCA), ‘Auckland Transport’ (AT), dedicates a chapter in its ‘code of practice’ outlining its commitment to enabling innovative solutions where appropriate. Yet, as political demands for a modal shift towards active and public transport have gradually intensified, the organisation has sometimes struggled to adapt from ‘business-as-usual’ practices that prioritise goals associated with the private motor vehicle, such as road network capacity and flow efficiency (particularly, alleviating peak hour congestion problems).falsePorirua, New Zealan
2. Penerapan peran kesalahan korban dalam Putusan Mahkamah Agung Nomor 354 K/Kr/1980, tanggal 21 Januari 1981, yaitu Mahkamah Agung menegaskan bahwa adanya kesalahan korban tidak menghapuskan kesalahan terdakwa.Kata kunci: Peran kesalahan, korban, kealpaan, matinya orang lain
