UNICS - An Unified Instrument Control System for Small/Medium Sized Astronomical Observatories
Although the astronomy community is witnessing an era of large telescopes,
smaller and medium sized telescopes still maintain their utility being larger
in numbers. In order to obtain better scientific outputs it is necessary to
incorporate modern and advanced technologies to the back-end instruments and to
their interfaces with the telescopes through various control processes. However
often tight financial constraints on the smaller and medium size observatories
limit the scope and utility of these systems. Most of the time for every new
development on the telescope the back-end control systems are required to be
built from scratch leading to high costs and efforts. Therefore a simple, low
cost control system for small and medium size observatory needs to be developed
to minimize the cost and efforts while going for the expansion of the
observatory. Here we report on the development of a modern, multipurpose
instrument control system UNICS (Unified Instrument Control System) to
integrate the controls of various instruments and devices mounted on the
telescope. UNICS consists of an embedded hardware unit called Common Control
Unit (CCU) and Linux based data acquisition and User Interface. The Hardware of
the CCU is built around the Atmel make ATmega 128 micro-controller and is
designed with a back-plane, Master Slave architecture. The Graphical User
Interface (GUI) has been developed based on QT and the back end application
software is based on C/C++. UNICS provides feedback mechanisms which give the
operator a good visibility and a quick-look display of the status and modes of
instruments. UNICS is being used for regular science observations since March
2008 on 2m, f/10 IUCAA Telescope located at Girawali, Pune India.Comment: Submitted to PASP, 10 Pages, 5 figure

A Study on Post-Taukte (Cyclone) Impact on Economic Recovery of People of Jafrabad City
Natural calamities have always been disastrous for the people who are affected by it. Taukte cyclone had hit Sourthern Saurashtra area of Gujarat state on 17th May 2021. Through this research paper, researchers have tried to find the loss of assets and loss of income of people of Jafrabad city, which is situated on costal area of Arabian Sea due to devastating effect of Taukte. This study focuses on recovery period of the damaged assets and normalization of income of affected people. A structured questionnaire used to collect the primary data from 433 respondents of this region. It was the challenging task for researchers to collect data from the respondents as they could not balm their wounds, however the main purpose of this study is to analyse recovery period with regard to assets and income of the people of this badly affected area. To know the association with demographic variables, Chi-square technique has been used by the researchers. It has been found that there is no significant association for recovery period for assets and gender and occupation of the respondents while for recovery period of income gender has association but occupation does not have association.
Antidepressant drugs: evaluation of price variation
Background: Drugs are available in many different brands and costs of all brands are different. Patients of depression have to take the antidepressant drug for a long duration. If the cost of a drug is high patient has to pay more money for complete treatment. It can result in noncompliance and treatment failure. This study was aimed to evaluate the cost of antidepressant drugs of different classes and to analyze price variation in various antidepressant drugs available in India. Hence, we decided to do the study of price variations of antidepressant drugs. Methods: We had evaluated the cost of a different class of antidepressant drugs. Current Index of Medical Specialties October-December 2014 and Indian Drug Review 2015 issue 1 drug manuals were used to derive the cost of antidepressant drugs. Data about the cost of antidepressant drugs were collected for all the strength and dosage forms. The maximum price and minimum price for the different antidepressant drugs were identified, and calculation for the percentage of price variation was done. Results: Maximum percentage of price variation in different groups were 900% in reboxetine 2 mg (tricyclic antidepressants group), 495.23% in escitalopram 10 mg (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors group), 318.66% in duloxetine 20 mg capsules (serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors group), 243.58% in moclobemide 150 mg tablet (reversible monoamine oxidase-A inhibitor), 84.93% in bupropion 150 mg sustained-release tablet (atypical antidepressants group). In combination escitalopram 10 mg + clonazepam 0.5 mg shows maximum price variation of 1101.92%.Conclusion: Price variation was wide for antidepressant drugs. Generic drug prescribing can decrease the expenditure of patient on the drug. Prescribers should be provided updated knowledge of the cost of different drugs. Modifications in pharmaceutical policy are required, and prices of the drug should be controlled in effective way for all the drugs
The Efficacy of tele physiotherapy and comparison with routine physiotherapy treatment for patients underwent modified radical mastectomy
Breast Cancer is a leading cause of women death in India and it is measured to have one out of every 28 Indian women are under risk of developing breast cancer. And as a part of treatment, Modified Radical Mastectomy can be considered as a best treatment procedure. But that to have some complications like Decreased Shoulder ROM, Pain & Disabilities. To overcome these complications we can have conventional physiotherapy protocol. But In India it is tough to have a physiotherapist in every rural area. So, this study is mainly focuses on the tele physiotherapy protocol and helps us to find out weather tele physiotherapy is helpful or not and if it is helpful, than comparison with the routine physiotherapy. So, after having this research study we have found out that the tele physiotherapy is helpful for reducing the complications like pain, ROM & Disabilities but it is not as much beneficial as routine physiotherapy. So, for the patients who resides in rural area where physiotherapy facilities are not available, those patients can be benefited by having tele physiotherapy than compared to No Physiotherapy at all
Supported ionic liquid silica nanoparticles (SILnPs) as an efficient and recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for the dehydration of fructose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural
Supported ionic liquid nanoparticles (SILnPs) having particle size ranging from 293 ± 2 to 610 ±
11 nm have been prepared by immobilization of ionic liquid, 1-(tri-ethoxy silyl-propyl)-
3-methyl-imidazolium hydrogen sulfate (IL-HSO4) on the surface of silica nanoparticles. The
catalytic activity of the prepared SILnPs was investigated for the dehydration of fructose to
5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) in the presence of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) as a solvent. The
reaction temperature and amount of catalyst have been optimized for dehydration of fructose over
SILnPs using experimental design leading to 99.9% fructose conversion and 63.0% HMF yield
using silica SILnPs (d = 610 ± 11) nm at 130.0 ◦C in 30 min reaction time. The SILnPs catalysts
developed in this study present improved performances over other zeolites and strong acid ion
exchange resin catalysts, and they have been efficiently and very easily recycled over seven times
without any significant loss in fructose conversion and HMF yield
Facial Emotion Recognition usign CNN
Nowadays where most of the works are being carried online the demand for face recognition technique is elevated. Computerized software is assisting in identifying human feelings such as happiness, sadness, anger, fear, disgust, etc. Over the decades, various research has been carried on the facial expression and emotion recognition. Emotion detection has extended applications. It is not merely related to any specific field nut instead the approach ranges from communication, advertising to hospital requisition and many more. To exist collective mechanisms through which we can accomplish the process of facial emotion recognition. In this paper we are using Convolutional Neural Network for the implementation. Upon exploring numerous datasets for the procedure of experiment we have chosen to go with Kaggle dataset
