Improved photoionization mass spectrometer
Improved spectrometer for gas analysis lessens the intensity problem that occurs in obtaining dispersed ultraviolet radiation. A filter, consisting of a selectively transmitting gas cell, a thin film or mirror, or a predispersing grating, alleviates problems of interference from higher-order spectral lines and from scattered ultraviolet light
Towards a More Articulated and Relevant System of National Accounts
This article is part of the NEDA-PIDS Seminar-Workshop on the Philippine System of National Accounts. It reports what has been achieved after the last workshop held last November 1976. It also discusses the more pressing problems and issues relating to the balance of payment and government financial statistics.balance of payments, data and statistics, national account

Multimedia courseware: Never mind the quality how much will it cost to develop?
This paper evaluates multimedia courseware costing techniques such as the US Airforce Interactive Courseware Method (Golas, 1993), CBT Analyst (Kearsley, 1985), CEAC (Schooley, 1988) and MEEM (Marshall, Samson, Dugard, & Scott, 1994) against the data from ten multimedia courseware developments. The Relative Error and Mean Absolute Relative Error (MARE) are calculated to allow comparison of the different methods
The Role of ICT-based Market Information Services in Spatial Food Market Integration: The Case of Malawi Agricultural Commodity Exchange
The government of Malawi in 2004 initiated an ICT-based Malawi Agricultural Commodity Exchange (MACE), a market information service project, to improve access by farmers to market information. MACE was intended to improve the efficiency of agricultural markets as part of the strategy to improve food security. This study uses quantitative methods to examine whether MACE has contributed to efficiency of rice markets in Malawi. It especially tests if MACE has contributed to spatial integration of rice markets. As hypothesized, the study finds that the tendency of rice prices to move together in spatially separated markets has significantly increased since the implementation of MACE. It concludes that ICT-based market information services improve the efficiency with which agricultural markets perform. The study discusses implications of this finding for policy.ICT-based intervention, market information service, market integration, rice, Malawi, Research and Development/Tech Change/Emerging Technologies,

Gas phase polymerization of ethylene with a silica-supported metallocene catalyst: influence of temperature on deactivation
Ethylene was polymerized at 5 bar in a stirred powder bed reactor with silica supported rac-Me2Si[Ind]2ZrCl2/methylaluminoxane (MAO) at temperatures between 40°C and 80°C using NaCl as support bed and triethylaluminium (TEA) as a scavenger for impurities. For this fixed recipe and a given charge of catalyst. the average catalyst activity is reproducible within 10% for low temperatures. The polymerization rate and the rate of deactivation increase with increasing temperature. The deactivation could be modeled using a first order dependence with respect to the polymerization rate
Absolute photoionization cross sections of atomic oxygen
The absolute values of photoionization cross sections of atomic oxygen were measured from the ionization threshold to 120 A. An auto-ionizing resonance belonging to the 2S2P4(4P)3P(3Do, 3So) transition was observed at 479.43 A and another line at 389.97 A. The experimental data is in excellent agreement with rigorous close-coupling calculations that include electron correlations in both the initial and final states
Unconventional pairing in bipolaronic theories
Various mechanisms have been put forward for cuprate superconductivity, which
fit largely into two camps: spin-fluctuation and electron-phonon (el-ph)
mechanisms. However, in spite of a large effort, electron-phonon interactions
are not fully understood away from clearly defined limits. To this end, we use
a numerically exact algorithm to simulate the binding of bipolarons. We present
the results of a continuous-time quantum Monte-Carlo (CTQMC) algorithm on a
tight-binding lattice, for bipolarons with arbitrary interaction range in the
presence of strong coulomb repulsion. The algorithm is sufficiently efficient
that we can discuss properties of bipolarons with various pairing symmetries.
We investigate the effective mass and binding energies of singlet and triplet
real-space bipolarons for the first time, and discuss the extensions necessary
to investigate -symmetric pairs.Comment: Submitted to M2S-HTSC VIII, Dresden 2006, 2 page
