Global Partnerships for Sustainable Development - a case study of the Global Deal for Decent Work and Inclusive Growth

This thesis discusses global partnerships for sustainable development. Global partnerships have come to be considered as key tools for the implementation of certain international sustainable development goals and there is a growing literature on the subject. Nevertheless, no study has yet been done of the Global Deal Partnership for Decent Work and Inclusive Growth, initiated by the Government of Sweden in 2016. The partnership is presented as a concrete input to several of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially numbers 8, 10, and 17. This provides an important opportunity to make sense of the Global Deal partnership, in particular since it is the first attempt of its kind to unite all stakeholders on the global labour market to work together to provide decent work and inclusive growth for all. What are the goals of the Global Deal, how was it formed, and how is it being implemented? The analysis presented in this thesis is based on a literature survey, documentary analysis, and interviews with the Global Deal Partnership’s support unit at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. This thesis argues that the Global Deal partnership is a textbook example of a global multi-stakeholder partnership, developed through an inclusive goal-setting process, and implemented with monitoring and reporting functions.

Renovation of a building in the heritage conservation area of the old town of Tartu, stähtvere 16/18, Tartu city

Selles lõputöös analüüsiti vana puitmaja, mis asub aadressil Tartus, Tähtvere tn 16/18. Tegemist on majaga mille ehitus aastat ei osata aimata ning mis on ehitatud aja jooksul kahest majast kokku. Terve töö põhineb visuaalsel hinnangul. Hoone on kaugel tänapäeva inimese ideaalsest mugavustega kodust. Puudub ventilatsioonisüsteem, ühine kütte lahendus ning soojustatud seinad. Need on põhilised murekohad, millele otsis autor võimalikke lahendusi. Pidades silmas, et tegu on Tartu linn Vanalinna muinsuskaitse alal oleva hoonega. Autor soovitas töös soojustada esimese korruse põrand, ühineda kaugküttega, lisada maja põhine ventilatsioon ja vahetada ava täited. Ettepanekute eesmärk on parandada elamistingimuste parandamine, sisekliima ja soojapidavuse parandamine. Seeläbi vältida ka amortiseerunud süsteemide võimalikke kahjustusi. Parandus ettepanekute najal tehti otsekulude maksumuse tabel. Maksumuse hinnanguliseks suuruseks saadi 246 604€. Lisaks renoveerimis soovitustele tegi autor ka korrashoiu kava, et kõike loodut hoida ja säilitada. Autor ei toonud töödele välja sagedusi, kuna osa neist määrab vastav teenusepakkuja (prügivedu ja reaalne vajadus) ning ülejäänud tuleb aurutada läbi korteriühistu liikmete soovide ja rahakoti võimalustega. Kuna tegu on väikse majaga on võimalik, et omanikud teevad töid ise (nt. sise- ja välikoristus ). Realiseerides töös välja pakutud parandus ettepanekud, tõuseb hoone väärtus, kui ka paranevad elanike elutingimused ja pikeneb hoone eluiga.This thesis analyzed an old wooden house located at Tähtvere tn 16/18 in Tartu. It is a house whose construction year cannot be guessed and which was built over time from two houses. The entire work is based on a visual assessment. The building is far from the modern man's ideal home with amenities. There is no ventilation system, common heating solution and insulated walls. These are the main concerns for which the author sought possible solutions. Bearing in mind that the city of Tartu is a building in the heritage protection area of the Old Town. The author recommended in the work to insulate the floor of the first floor, join the district heating, add ventilation based on the house and replace the opening fillings. The purpose of the proposals is to improve living conditions, indoor climate and heat retention. In this way, possible damage to amortized systems can also be avoided. Based on the correction suggestions, a table of the cost of direct costs was made. The estimated amount of the cost was €246,604. In addition to the renovation recommendations, the author also made a maintenance plan to keep and preserve everything created. The author did not specify the frequencies for the works, since some of them are determined by the respective service provider (garbage collection and real need), and the rest must be steamed through the wishes of the members of the apartment association and the possibilities of their wallets. Since it is a small house, it is possible that the owners do the work themselves (e.g. indoor and outdoor cleaning). By implementing the improvement proposals proposed in the work, the value of the building will increase, as well as the living conditions of the residents will improve and the life of the building will be extended
