Blind Ptychographic Phase Retrieval via Convergent Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers

    Get PDF
Ptychography has risen as a reference X-ray imaging technique: it achieves resolutions of one billionth of a meter, macroscopic field of view, or the capability to retrieve chemical or magnetic contrast, among other features. A ptychographyic reconstruction is normally formulated as a blind phase retrieval problem, where both the image (sample) and the probe (illumination) have to be recovered from phaseless measured data. In this article we address a nonlinear least squares model for the blind ptychography problem with constraints on the image and the probe by maximum likelihood estimation of the Poisson noise model. We formulate a variant model that incorporates the information of phaseless measurements of the probe to eliminate possible artifacts. Next, we propose a generalized alternating direction method of multipliers designed for the proposed nonconvex models with convergence guarantee under mild conditions, where their subproblems can be solved by fast element-wise operations. Numerically, the proposed algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms in both speed and image quality.Comment: 23 page

An integrational response to Searlean realism, or how language does not relate to consciousness

    Get PDF
The relationship between language and a science of consciousness is rarely treated as crucial for the field's metatheory (i.e., its underlying philosophical assumptions about the role and nature of language). John Searle is among those thinkers who has given language due attention as part of his realist philosophy, and semantic questions turn out to be in the forefront of his plea for a scientific approach to the phenomenon of consciousness. This paper will consider Searle's philosophy of language in the light of an integrational theory of communication (Harris 1981, 1996, 1998). It is argued here that Searlean realism is grounded in a 'reocentric' conception of the world, which (wrongly) assumes an isomorphic relation between language and what language refers to. © 2013 by Walter de Gruyter Berlin Boston.published_or_final_versio

PREPARATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBO-MINERAL DRUG: AROGYAVARDHINI VATI (TABLET)

As per ancient Ayurveda scholars for getting desirable outcome of any medication, it should be precisely analyzed before prescribing to the patient. In maximum cases there is lack of data regarding their detailed standardized pharmaceutical procedures. Arogyavardhini vati is one of the herbo-mineral drugs which are widely used by Ayurveda physicians for the treatment of skin disorders and hepatic diseases. Medicines prepared using traditional method may not have the desired quality and batch to batch consistency. Hence, there is a need of Pharmaceutical and analytical validation of the formulations on Ayurvedic as well as modern parameters. Arogyavardhini vati is traditionally used in Vati form in this study efforts were made to transform it into tablet dosage form. The present work deals with the preparation of Arogyavardhini vati in tablet form using modern equipments and techniques. Pharmacopeial standards are set for the Ayurvedic formulations in tablet form. Three batches of the sample were prepared and their analytical validation was set. All the three batches are identical and do not show any significant difference in their analytical parameters. HPTLC fingerprinting also shows similar Rf values which confirms the product prepared by this method is authentic. The set parameters may be used as reference parameters for further pharmaceutical processes

PHARMACEUTICAL STANDARDIZATION OF RAKTAPACHAK VATI (TABLET) - A POLYHERBAL FORMULATION

In Ancient Ayurvedic texts, there are many formulation, some of them are herbal, mineral and herbo-mineral in origin. These formulations are effective in many diseases depending upon their qualities and properties. In Charak Samhita, Uttarsthana, Acharya Charak mentioned Pachak Yoga in the Treatment of Vishamjwara. Raktapachak yoga which is useful in the treatment of Raktagat jwar(satat jwar). Many of the Ayurvedic practioners prescribe Raktapachak Yoga in various dosage forms like Kashaya (Decoction), Churna (Powder) etc as per their convenience. Dosage form for administration plays an important role in the packaging, action and delivery of the particular drug on a specific system. Tablets are easy to prepare, packaging, transportation and administration to the patients Hence tablet form is the most accepted dosage form amongst all. This formulation is transformed to the tablet form by using modern equipments and analytical techniques. An effort is made to validate the pharmaceutical and analytical procedures to maintain the quality of product and to avoid batch to batch variation. Pharmacopoeial standards are set for this Ayurvedic formulation in tablet form. All the three samples were prepared by this method shows identical characteristics and analytical parameters do not show much significant difference. The set parameters may be used for the further pharmaceutical preparations
