Sustainability in the market of passive investments: an application of ESG metrics to compare performances and risk profiles of equity Etfss

The market of passive instruments experienced in the last decade a substantial increment in the offer of sustainable investments as investors are integrating ESG choices in their portfolios. Past literature evidences contrasting results regarding benefits and risks of these types of assets. Using absolute and risk-adjusted performances, this research aims to create a framework to compare results of portfolios constructed on a “neutral” sample of ETFs when evaluated against different ESG proxies. The results highlighted better performance for more sustainable ETFs when assessed using MSCI Ratings and a Carbon Emissions proxy. Opposite results were obtained when using proxies for the Social and Governance characteristics

ANVISA : registro de medicamentos e anuência prévia

O objetivo deste trabalho é identificar os motivos e consequências da morosidade que assola os institutos da Anuência Prévia e do Registro de Medicamentos por parte da ANVISA. Nesse sentido, a pesquisa pautou-se na análise do funcionamento dos institutos da Anuência Prévia e do Registro de Medicamentos por parte da agência sanitária, mediante consulta a recentes alterações legislativas relacionadas ao tema, dados estatísticos fornecidos no site da ANVISA, jurisprudência de tribunais brasileiros e estudos realizados pela Fundação Oswaldo Cruz. Concluiu-se que a morosidade do sistema de registros e concessão de Anuência Prévia é decorrente da forma como as atividades da ANVISA e do INPI estão estruturadas e da falta de articulação entre tais autarquias, o que retarda o acesso da população a medicamentos. No entanto, a pesquisa também identificou que já existem recentes iniciativas da ANVISA no sentido de aprimorar esse sistema, de forma a mitigar a referida morosidade.This paper aims to identify the reasons and consequences of the slowness that afflicts the institute of prior consent and registration of medications by ANVISA. In this sense, the research was based on the analysis of the functioning of the institute of prior consent and registration of medications by the health agency, through consultation of recent legislative changes related to the issue, statistical data provided on ANVISA's website, jurisprudence of Brazilian courts and studies carried out by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. It was concluded that the slowness of the system of registrations and concession of prior consent is due to the way in which ANVISA’s and INPI's activities are structured and to the lack of articulation among these authorities, which cause delays the population's access to medicines. However, the research also identified that there are already recent initiatives by ANVISA to improve this system, in order to mitigate said issue
