    Get PDF
The passage (a narrow street lined with shops) as an architectural type of the XIXth century and the cinematograph as a specific mode of representation which appeared at the end of the last century are both apparatuses of mediation which permit individuals to inscribe their relation to the world in interrelated, complementary processes. In this article we will consider the relationships between these two apparatuses, which, though different in many ways, both participate in their own fashion in the structuring of individuals

Clinical Guidelines in Sports Medicine: Am I Reading a Guideline or a Consensus Statement: What’s the Difference? Does it Matter?

Introduction: The integration of research evidence into clinical practice is one of the most challenging aspects of sports medicine. The time required to search library databases and read multiple systematic reviews represents a significant barrier to many clinicians. Clinical guidelines and consensus statements provide a summary of best practice for clinical conditions, and provide clinical recommendations. In sports medicine, the terms clinical guideline and consensus statement are often used interchangeably; however, important differences exist between these resources. The aims of this review were to identify the clinical guidelines published in key international sports medicine journals over the last five years, and assess their methodological quality. Methods: In March 2014, the top ten international sports medicine journals (identified on current impact factors) were searched using the single keyword ‘guideline’. Peer-reviewed papers providing clinical recommendations that were described by the authors as a guideline were included. The International Centre for Allied Health Evidence (iCAHE) guideline checklist, which consists of fourteen ‘yes’ and ‘no’ responses, graded 1 or 0 respectively, was used to assess the methodological quality of each clinical guideline. Results: Ten publications were retained from a pool of 34 potentially-relevant publications. The iCAHE guideline checklist scores ranged from 3 to 11 out of a possible 14. Within the ten included publications, the most frequently identified methodological problems were a failure to describe the strategy used to search for evidence, failure to critically appraise the quality of underlying evidence and failure to clearly link the hierarchy and quality of underlying evidence to each recommendation. Discussion: The ten sports medicine journals included in this review published few clinical guidelines, and these were of poor to moderate quality. These clinical guidelines should be interpreted with caution because of methodological problems identified by this review. Consensus statements are useful resources for busy sports medicine clinicians; however, these resources should be subjected to the same rigorous appraisal as clinical guidelines, in order to identify areas where bias may potentially limit the usefulness of the recommendations

With ever-growing concern for democracy, space developers and designers have enlisted public consultation onto their roster of communicational strategies. This strategy coincides with the appearance in our societies of a marked trend towards recognizing individual rights. Among the incidences of consultation may be found that of giving meaning to spaces. Thus these tactics and other practices respond to these strategic efforts that are out of phase with users. What kind of relation with people do these new participatory procedures instate which are based on communicational exchanges of a consultative kind ? In questioning users' "power", it is not so much the political, but rather the ethical question that retains our interest here. Specifically, our objective is to produce creteria enabling the appraisal of the "quality" of programming and designing and that of spatial projects. Our viewpoint is extrapolated results from our research in Les pratiques d'espaces libres urbains à Montréal (FCAR EQ-3013)

The so-called external restriction on growth has been a historic obstacle to the economic development of Latin American countries. This article aims to contribute to the debate on this issue in Argentina, from an approach of political economics. In this context, it is stated in this paper that the lower dynamism exhibited by the Argentinian economy between 2009 and 2015, compared to the previous five years, was linked to growing difficulties in its external sector. From the descriptive analysis of several variables related to the balance of payments, it is affirmed that this was due to the confluence of an external situation -the international crisis- with unresolved structural problems whose persistence refers to the character of the dominant class block. The use of information and communication technologies by portuguese teachers

We present a study made in Portugal, in 2001/2002, on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by teachers of all teaching levels (except high education), in both public and private schools. It was an initiative of the Ministry of Education (“Nonio – 21st Century” program), which was carried out by the Competence Centre “Softsciences” and the Centre for Computational Physics of the University of Coimbra. Some of the conclusions of this study, that has collected data from 19337 teachers, are the following: the majority of Portuguese teachers own a PC and approximately half of them use it in several activities, though their use of computers with students is limited. Primary school teachers use often the PC in their schools, though, probably, in an incipient way. The self-training of teachers in ICT is quite common. The Internet is more used by 3rd cycle (last part of middle school) and high school teachers, being most of its users male and young. These and other conclusions should be taken into account in a strategy towards incrementing a better use of new technologies in schools.
