A mathematical analysis of the evolution of perturbations in a modified Chaplygin gas model

One approach in modern cosmology consists in supposing that dark matter and dark energy are different manifestations of a single `quartessential' fluid. Following such idea, this work presents a study of the evolution of perturbations of density in a flat cosmological model with a modified Chaplygin gas acting as a single component. Our goal is to obtain properties of the model which can be used to distinguish it from another cosmological models which have the same solutions for the general evolution of the scale factor of the universe, without the construction of the power spectrum. Our analytical results, which alone can be used to uniquely characterize the specific model studied in our work, show that the evolution of the density contrast can be seen, at least in one particular case, as composed by a spheroidal wave function. We also present a numerical analysis which clearly indicates as one interesting feature of the model the appearence of peaks in the evolution of the density constrast.Comment: 21 pages, accepted for publication in General Relativity and Gravitatio

O artigo discute a mobilização política dosmoradores das áreas de várzea de diferenteslocalidades do Estado do Amazonas,que se organizaram desde os anos 1970 afim de reverter a situação de “escassez” dopescado, decorrente do aumento da exploraçãocomercial. Para responder a essa situação,pensada como uma ameaça ao seusistema de vida, os moradores buscaraminstaurar, através da formação do chamadoMovimento de Preservação dos Lagos(MPL), um plano de manejo, com outroconjunto de práticas capaz de regular asformas de usufruto dos recursos naturaisentre os próprios moradores e entre os novosatores sociais que se impuseram nesseterritório. This photographic essay aims to capture situations experienced daily between humans and cattle in a municipal slaughterhouse. And more than showing the daily life of slaughter in terms of the activity of killing animals to turn them into meat, which in modernity was constituted in material and moral terms so as not to be seen, these are precisely the multiple expressions of a more than human sociality. It is in this environment that I seek to present with the photographic records shown here.Este ensaio fotográfico tem como objetivo captar situações vivenciadas cotidianamente entre humanos e bois em um matadouro municipal. E mais do que mostrar o cotidiano do abate no que se refere a atividade de matar animais para transforma-lo em carne, que na modernidade foi constituída em termos materiais e moral para não ser visto, são justamente as múltiplas expressões da socialidade mais que humana nesse ambiente que busco apresentar com os registros fotográficos aqui expostos

Small Data as a Tool to Predict Player Game Design Preferences: A Qualitative Pilot Study

Videogames, besides a form of entertainment, can be of added value to purposes such as physical rehabilitation (serious games). In this context, custom made serious games may be of great value, especially if they combine the necessary actions that the user must perform with engaging and captivating gameplay. Given data protection and ethical constraints, assessing a patient’s gaming preferences and personal traits to predict preferred game design by big data from online social profiles is not possible. In this matter, we developed a questionnaire that tries to infer patients’ gaming preferences from limited personal information, which we denote as “Small Data”. The questionnaire was tested in a pilot study with 17 healthy participants and results suggest that the collected information may help decide what kind of videogame better suits a particular patient, potentially aiding the process of developing Serious Games for healthcare

O mercado do boi gordo: “modernizando” técnicas, gado e gente

Transformations in the beef cattle raising are analyzed by Social Sciences in order to understand how new socio-economic relations are fanned from the modernizing efforts of the sector, and at the same time how the so-called traditional relations are impacted, also with regard to human-animal relations. Among this debate, it will be reflected how the assumptions which guide the search for the modernization of beef cattle raising are constituted, and how they’ articulate and dismantle practices and relationships between humans, cattle and the environment. In order to do so, publications by researchers and government agents, who I called “agents of modernization”, were used in this article. Through the qualitative analysis of these works, it was possible to understand how the modernizing impulses unbalanced the human and animal interaction systems, inasmuch as they’ establish the condition of effectiveness as an absolute value and presuppose the rejection of the standards considered as inefficient.Las transformaciones de la ganadería vacuna son analizadas por las Ciências Sociales para comprender cómo se forman nuevas relaciones socioeconómicas a partir de los esfuerzos modemizadores del sector y cómo se impactan las llamadas relaciones tradicionales, incluso en lo que se refiere a las relaciones entre humanos y animales. En diálogo con este debate, se reflejará cómo se constituyen los supuestos que orientan la búsqueda de la modemización del ganado vacuno, y cómo articulan y desmantelan prácticas y relaciones entre humanos, ganado y medio ambiente. Para ello, se utilizaron publicaciones de investigadores y agentes del Estado, llamados en este artículo "agentes de modemización”. A partir del análisis cualitativo de estos trabajos, fue posible comprender cómo los impulsos modemizadores desequilibran los sistemas de interacción humano y animal, ya que el establecimiento de la condición de efectividad como valor absoluto presupone la renuncia a los estándares considerados ineficientes.As transformações da bovinocultura de corte são analisadas pelas Ciências Sociais com o objetivo de compreender como se formam novas relações sociecônomicas a partir dos esforços modernizadores do setor, e ao mesmo tempo de que maneira as relações ditas tradicionais são impactadas, inclusive no que diz respeito às relações entre humanos e animais. Em diálogo com esse debate, será refletido como são constituídos os pressupostos que orientam a busca pela modernização da bovinocultura de corte, e de que maneira articulam e desarticulam práticas e relações entre humanos, gado e o ambiente. Para tanto, foi utilizado publicações de pesquisadores e agentes do Estado, a quem chamei de “agentes da modernização”. A partir da análise qualitativa desses trabalhos foi possível compreender como os impulsos modernizadores desiquilibram os sistemas de interação humanos e animais na medida em que a instauração da condição de eficácia como valor absoluto pressupõe a renúncia dos padrões tidos como ineficientes.

Satisfação do paciente no atendimento domiciliar após desospitalização

A população mundial está envelhecendo e a tendência é que a faixa etária acima dos 65 anos cresça a cada ano, devido o aumento da perspectiva de longevidade. Com isso, alguns serviços voltados para essa faixa etária têm crescido e os serviços de saúde são os que se salientam. Nesse cenário os serviços de saúde domiciliares, também conhecidos como “Home Care” têm crescido por trazer vantagens tanto para os pacientes como para as organizações hospitalares. Diante desse crescimento é necessário fazer pesquisas voltadas para a avaliação da satisfação dos pacientes atendidos pelo sistema de “Home Care”, buscando verificar se os mesmos têm suprido suas necessidades e quais as mudanças necessárias para atender sempre da melhor forma os pacientes. Esse estudo teve como objetivo abordar a satisfação do paciente no atendimento domiciliar pós desospitalização. A pesquisa recorreu à escala SERVQUAL com pacientes da empresa PRO LIFE Home Care, buscando avaliar o grau de satisfação dos mesmos com os serviços prestados pela empresa. A realização dessa pesquisa é pertinente pelo fato do atendimento domiciliar pós desospitalização nesta empresa ser relativamente recente e ainda estar em um processo dinâmico de construção, o que propicia ainda muitas possibilidades e desafios a serem enfrentados. Para tanto, é necessário o estabelecimento de uma gestão estratégica visando minimizar os problemas advindos dessa modalidade e avaliar o grau de satisfação por parte dos pacientes que são atendidos por essa modalidade. O resultado revela que os pacientes atendidos pela PRO LIFE tem um grau elevado de satisfação com os serviços prestados somente em alguns quesitos e em outros é necessária uma atuação mais criteriosa para sanar os problemas verificados na pesquisa.The world population is aging and the trend is for the age group over 65 to grow each year due to the increased prospect of longevity. With this, some services aimed at this age group have grown and health services are the ones that stand out. In this scenario, home health services, also known as Home Care, have grown to bring benefits to both patients and hospital organizations. Given this growth, it is necessary to conduct research aimed at assessing the satisfaction of patients assisted by the Home Care system, seeking to verify if they have met their needs and what changes are needed to always serve patients in the best way. This study aimed to address patient satisfaction in home care after dehospitalization. To this end, a literature review and SERVQUAL survey will be conducted with patients of the company PRO LIFE Home Care, seeking to assess their satisfaction with the services provided by the company. The realization of this research motivated me because the post-hospitalization home care is relatively recent and still in a dynamic process of construction, which still provides many possibilities and challenges to be faced. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a strategic management aiming to minimize the problems arising from this modality and to evaluate the degree of satisfaction by the patients who are treated by this modality. It was concluded that the degree of satisfaction of patients treated by PRO LIFE has a high degree of satisfaction with the services provided by the company only in some aspects and in others it is necessary a more careful action to solve the problems found in the research
