    Cet article se veut un partage de l'expérience clinique acquise à travers les activités du Groupe abus de substance mis sur pied dans le cadre du programme pour les personnes atteintes d'une première psychose à la Polyclinique Sainte-Anne, une ressource externe du Centre hospitalier Robert-Giffard. Inspiré d'un programme américain s'adressant spécifiquement aux personnes atteintes d'une schizophrénie et présentant un problème d'abus de substances, ce programme de psychoéducation et d'entraînement aux habiletés a pour but d'aider les participants à développer leur motivation à réduire ou à cesser leur consommation, à reconnaître les situations à risque élevé et à développer des habiletés pour éviter les rechutes et réduire les méfaits reliés à l'abus de substances.Psychosis and addiction: the experience of the Polyclinique Sainte-Anne This article's objective is to share the clinical experience acquired through the activities of the Substance abuse Group established within the framework of the program destined to people suffering from a first psychosis at the Polyclinique Sainte-Anne, an external clinic of the Centre Hospitalier Robert-Giffard. Inspired by an american program specifically designed for people with schizophrenia and a problem of addiction, this psychoeducation and skills training program's goal is to help participants develop the motivation to reduce or cease their use, to recognize high risk situations and develop the skills to avoid relapse and reduce the ill effects of substance abuse.Psicosis y toxicomania: La experiencia del equipo de la Polyclinique Sainte-Anne Este artículo comparte la experiencia clínica adquirida a travès de las actividades del Grupo de abuso de sustancia desarrollado en el marco de un programa para personas sufriendo de una primera psicósis a la clínica Sainte-Anne, un recurso externo del Centro Hospitalier Robert-Giffard.     A method to efficiently simulate the thermodynamical properties of the Fermi-Hubbard model on a quantum computer

    Many phenomena of strongly correlated materials are encapsulated in the Fermi-Hubbard model whose thermodynamical properties can be computed from its grand canonical potential according to standard procedures. In general, there is no closed form solution for lattices of more than one spatial dimension, but solutions can be approximated with cluster perturbation theory. To model long-range effects such as order parameters, a powerful method to compute the cluster's Green's function consists in finding its self-energy through a variational principle of the grand canonical potential. This opens the possibility of studying various phase transitions at finite temperature in the Fermi-Hubbard model. However, a classical cluster solver quickly hits an exponential wall in the memory (or computation time) required to store the computation variables. Here it is shown theoretically that that the cluster solver can be mapped to a subroutine on a quantum computer whose quantum memory scales as the number of orbitals in the simulated cluster. A quantum computer with a few tens of qubits could therefore simulate the thermodynamical properties of complex fermionic lattices inaccessible to classical supercomputers.Comment: 19 pages, 14 figure

    L’aide apportée par des tiers et les réactions des aidantes naturelles à la prise en charge de personnes âgées en perte d’autonomie

    Cet article s'intéresse à la relation entre, d'une part, l'aide apportée par des tiers et, d'autre part, le fardeau ressenti et la dépression pour les aidantes principales de personnes âgées souffrant de problèmes physiques ou cognitifs. Les auteurs avancent l'hypothèse que le soutien social ne constitue pas une entité homogène et que les différents types d'aide apportée sont susceptibles d'avoir des effets différents sur les réactions adverses à la prise en charge. Les données proviennent d'une étude menée en 1990, dans la région de Montréal, auprès de 159 aidantes co-résidant avec la personne aidée et demandeurs de services de la part du réseau formel et le réseau informel. Les analyses de régression hiérarchique montrent le rôle restreint des variables d'aide apportée par le réseau dans l'explication des niveaux de dépression et de fardeau et confirment l'hypothèse d'un spectre d'action étroit de ces variables.This article is about the relation between, on the one hand, support provided by third parties and, on the other, the burden and the depression experienced by the main female supporters who care for the elderly suffering from physical or cognitive problems. The authors examine the hypothesis that social support is not homogeneous accross the board and that the different types of support are likely to have different effects on elders with adverse reactions to the caring process. Data originates from a study that was conducted in the Montréal area in 1990 with 159 female supporters living with an elder requiring care who requested support services from formal and informal networks. Hierarchical regression analyses show that the variables in connection with care dispensed by the network play a limited role in attempting to explain the depression and burden levels. Furthermore, these analyses confirm the hypothesis of the variables' narrow range of influence

    Molecular Realization of a Quantum NAND Tree

    The negative-AND (NAND) gate is universal for classical computation making it an important target for development. A seminal quantum computing algorithm by Farhi, Goldstone and Gutmann has demonstrated its realization by means of quantum scattering yielding a quantum algorithm that evaluates the output faster than any classical algorithm. Here, we derive the NAND outputs analytically from scattering theory using a tight-binding (TB) model and show the restrictions on the TB parameters in order to still maintain the NAND gate function. We map the quantum NAND tree onto a conjugated molecular system, and compare the NAND output with non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) transport calculations using density functional theory (DFT) and TB Hamiltonians for the electronic structure. Further, we extend our molecular platform to show other classical gates that can be realized for quantum computing by scattering on graphs.Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures, 1 tabl

    Experimental investigation of multi-material aluminum-to-steel and GFRP-to-steel bonded and bolted/bonded connections

    Abstract : Through an experimental study, this paper describes the behavior of single-lap bonded, bolted and bolted/bonded connections for configurations with minimum geometric parameters proposed in design references. Two types of multi-material connections are considered: Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP)-to-steel and aluminum-to-steel. At first, the behavior of multi-material bonded connection using methacrylate and epoxy adhesives is evaluated. Then experimental results of bolted connections are presented. Finally, the contribution of adhesive in GFRP-to-steel and aluminum-to-steel bolted connections is investigated. Test results show that on single-lap simply bonded joints, failures mostly occur at the substrate to adhesive interface. Sanding the GFRP plate was found to improve the connection strength. Despite their lower elastic modulus, methacrylate adhesives with larger elongation provides better strength due to their high resistance in peeling. For bolted/bonded joints, the adhesive was found to improve the elastic behavior and the strength of GFRP-steel joints while its effect for aluminum-steel joints was not apparent due to reduce bonded surface and the high strength performance of the bolted plates
