La dimensione della memoria nella scrittura di Marica Bodrozic: analisi della raccolta di racconti Der Windsammler Der Windsammler: traduzione di racconti scelti

Il presente lavoro propone un'analisi della raccolta di racconti "Der Windsammler" della scrittrice tedesca di origini croate Marica Bodrožić, con particolare interesse alla dimensione della memoria e all'importanza della scrittura nel processo del ricordo. L'elaborato consta di tre capitoli e di una sezione conclusiva che presenta la traduzione di quattro racconti tratti dalla raccolta. Il primo capitolo si sofferma sul fenomeno della Migrantenliteratur in ambito europeo, ed in particolare tedesco, e mostra le specificità di tale letteratura rintracciabili nella produzione complessiva di Marica Bodrožić, tra cui il rapporto con la lingua tedesca, la percezione di vivere in uno Zwischenraum e la ricerca e ricostruzione di identità tramite la lingua. Il secondo capitolo presenta un'analisi formale e contenutistica della raccolta di racconti da una prospettiva che esalta il rapporto tra scrittura e memoria nei testi in esame e nella biografia dell'autrice. L'ultimo capitolo propone infine un commento alla traduzione dei quattro racconti, volto ad evidenziare le strutture e gli elementi linguistici a cui Bodrožić ricorre per rendere il suo stile poetico e funzionale alla dimensione della memoria che dà forma ai suoi racconti e che pervade la sua intera opera

Grid services for the MAGIC experiment

Exploring signals from the outer space has become an observational science under fast expansion. On the basis of its advanced technology the MAGIC telescope is the natural building block for the first large scale ground based high energy gamma-ray observatory. The low energy threshold for gamma-rays together with different background sources leads to a considerable amount of data. The analysis will be done in different institutes spread over Europe. Therefore MAGIC offers the opportunity to use the Grid technology to setup a distributed computational and data intensive analysis system with the nowadays available technology. Human hair and the impact of cosmetic procedures: a review on cleansing and shape-modulating cosmetics

Hair can be strategically divided into two distinct parts: the hair follicle, deeply buried in the skin, and the visible hair fiber. The study of the hair follicle is mainly addressed by biological sciences while the hair fiber is mainly studied from a physicochemical perspective by cosmetic sciences. This paper reviews the key topics in hair follicle biology and hair fiber biochemistry, in particular the ones associated with the genetically determined cosmetic attributes: hair texture and shape. The traditional and widespread hair care procedures that transiently or permanently affect these hair fiber features are then described in detail. When hair is often exposed to some particularly aggressive cosmetic treatments, hair fibers become damaged. The future of hair cosmetics, which are continuously evolving based on ongoing research, will be the development of more efficient and safer procedures according to consumers needs and concerns.Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) for providing Célia F. The Single-Sex Classroom and Math Self-Concept in Girls

Research shows girls\u27 and boys\u27 mathematics self-concept and achievement are comparable in elementary school; however as adolescence emerges, girls\u27 scores fall below boys\u27 (AAUW, 1992; Marsh, Parker & Barnes, 1985). Patient-reported outcomes from two randomised studies comparing once-weekly application of amorolfine 5% nail lacquer to other methods of topical treatment in distal and lateral subungual onychomycosis

Patient adherence is a key consideration in the choice of a topical regimen for the treatment of onychomycosis. The objective of this study was to investigate patient-reported outcomes (treatment utilisation, adherence and satisfaction) in onychomycosis treated with once-weekly amorolfine 5% nail lacquer versus once-daily ciclopirox 8% nail lacquer (Study A) or once-daily urea 40% ointment/bifonazole 1% cream combination regimen (Study B). Study A: Subjects received amorolfine and ciclopirox on opposite feet for 12 weeks. Study B: Subjects received amorolfine and urea/bifonazole on opposite feet for 6-7 weeks. Assessments included subject adherence as per label, treatment preference and questionnaire. Study A: More subjects adhered to amorolfine (85%) than to ciclopirox (60%) (P = .025). Overall, subjects were satisfied (95% vs 100%, respectively) and the treatments were balanced in terms of preference (50% vs 45%) at week 12. Study B: More subjects adhered to amorolfine dosage (81.8%) than to the dosage of the urea/bifonazole combination regimen (59.1%) (P = .096). At the end of study, 85.7% of subjects preferred amorolfine versus 14.3% for urea/bifonazole. Fewer subjects experienced local side effects with amorolfine (4.5%) compared to urea (27.3%) and bifonazole (15%). Amorolfine 5% nail lacquer offers a simple and convenient treatment option, which may result in improved patient adherence and consequently lead to improved efficacy and patient satisfaction.GaldermaPeer Reviewe

Hair cosmetics can be distinguished into two main categories: cosmetics with temporary effect on the hair, for example shampoos, conditioners, sprays, and temporary colors; and cosmetics with permanent effect on the hair, such as permanent waves, relaxers, bleaches and permanent colors. Stressing the passive behavior of a Passivhaus: an evidence-based scenario analysis for a Mediterranean case study

This paper first reports the outcomes of a one-year measurement campaign of a passive house built in the Mediterranean climate of Cesena (Italy) in terms of thermal comfort parameters temperature and relative humidity and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) parameter CO2 concentrations. The design carried out with the help of the steady state Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) was able to guarantee good comfort conditions during the heating period, but on the other hand, overheating occurrences during the cooling season have been recorded for almost 50% time according to EN 15251 Standard. Further analyses conducted with the help of dynamic simulations in EnergyPlus allowed identifying the insulation levels and ventilation mode as the key design factors to change in order to reduce overheating to less than 20% of time while keeping a comfortable indoor environment in winter. The simplifications that can be made by reducing the insulation material thickness (up to a third of the original value) on the roof and on the walls, replacing triple-glazed windows with double-glazed windows and implementing a hybrid ventilation strategy instead of using Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) alone could also lead to economic savings. These savings, due to both lower construction costs and operational energy savings, amount to 8755 euros in terms of Net Present Value (NPV) over 30 years' time. The Passivhaus Standard can still be regarded as a good reference for designing low-energy and comfortable houses in a Mediterranean climate if some simplifications are made according to detailed building performance simulations

Nails Involvement in Winiwarter-Buerger Disease

Introduction: Buerger disease, or thromboangiitis obliterans, is an inflammatory and occlusive process involving small and medium size arteries and veins, which generally affects the lower limbs of young adult male with the habit of smoking. Case presentation: This paper reports 2 patients who developed nail lesions as the first sign of Buerger disease. Conclusion: Signs and symptoms of Buerger's disease are secondary to the inflammatory process and arterial occlusion which results in severe ischemia. Involvement of nails is not common, but we found 2 different clinical features which have not been previously reported in the literature: chronic paronychia, and proximal leukonychia or onycholysis and nail bed erosion

Superfluidi, BEC e superconduttori

Questo lavoro si concentra sul fenomeno della superfluidità manifestato nell’4He, il primo superfluido scoperto. Dopo una breve introduzione storica, si passa all’esposizione della giustificazione teorica proposta da Landau. Poi si espongono le caratteristiche fisiche che sono coinvolte nell’origine di questo fenomeno. Dopodiché si illustra l’idrodinamica specifica per l’elio superfluido e si passano in rassegna le sue principali proprietà termodinamiche e idrodinamiche. Poi si approfondisce ulteriormente la proposta di Landau e si tratta delle quasiparticelle che possono formarsi nell’elio: i fononi e i rotoni. Dopodiché si passa al capitolo che tratta delle relazioni tra la BEC e l’elio superfluido. Innanzitutto si parte una caratteristica del superfluidi che permette di ricorre a un particolare modello di transizione. Da qui si sviluppa la giustificazione teorica che permette di associare una funzione d’onda macroscopica precisamente come nella BEC e le conseguenze di ciò. Subito dopo si evidenziano le differenze tra i due attraverso l’analisi della distribuzione di momento. Il terzo capitolo espone le somiglianze tra i superfluidi e i superconduttori a partire dal nome. Si comincia spiegando cosa sono i superconduttori e le principali caratteristiche di questo stato. Successivamente vengono presentati i primi due modelli storici proposti per spiegare gli effetti misurati: l’equazione di London e il modello Ginzburg-Landau. Per entrambi verr`a evidenziato quanto questi modelli sono debitori nei confronti della fisica dei superfluidi. In chiusura vengono trattati i vortici, punto di unione di tutti e tre i fenomeni trattati. Prima si spiega in cosa consistono i vortici nell’elio superfluido con una breve e coincisa trattazione dal punto di vista matematico del fenomeno. Poi si passerà brevemente ai vortici nella BEC. Infine si concluderà con i vortici nei superconduttori, le differenze e l’analogia tra questi e i vortici nel superfluido
