    Dalam suatu Perusahaan, salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan produktivitas produksi adalah dengan perbaikan susunan mesin-mesin produksi atau perbaikan tata letak fasilitas yang terdapat pada pabrik. Tata letak fasilitas berhubungan erat dengan Perubahan masukan menjadi keluaran. Berbagai macam pemborosan dapat terjadi pada proses produksi yang disebabkan oleh tata letak fasilitas yang tidak baik. Hal ini menjadi masalah dalam proses produksi untuk truk di PT. Mercedes-Benz Indonesia adalah panjangnya jarak perpindahan material antar stasiun kerja yang ada, sehingga berimbas pula bertambahnya biaya perpindahan dan jumlah output produksi yang dihasilkan. Oleh karena itu, maka diperlukan perancangan tata letak fasilitas ulang yang baru untuk mengatur ulang jalur lalu lintas material/barang yang lebih sesuai, sehingga dapat meminimalkan jarak dan ongkos material handling. Salah satu cara untuk mendapatkan usulan tata letak baru yaitu dengan Activity Relationship Diagram (ARC) dan Activity Relationship Diagram (ARD). Perhitungan jarak material handling yang digunakan yaitu jarak rectilinier. Terdapat dua alternatif usulan tata letak hasil olahan, maka dipilih alternatif pertama karena memiliki total jarak dan biaya material handling yang lebih efisien. Hasil perhitungan total jarak perpindahan untuk layout awal sebesar 591 m2/hari, alternatif pertama sebesar 565m2/hari, dan alternatif kedua sebesar 584m2/hari. Biaya material handling untuk layout awal sebsar Rp. 360.598,7/hari, alternatif pertama sebesar Rp. 344.734,8/hari, dan alternatif kedua sebesar Rp. 356.327,6/hari. Maka terjadi penurunan dari total jarak perpindahan pada alternatif pertama sebesar 26m2/hari, dan alternatif kedua sebesar 7m2/hari dari total jarak perpindahan layout awal. Serta terjadi penurunan biaya material handling pada layout alternatif pertama sebesar Rp. 15.864/hari, dan alternatif kedua sebesar Rp. 4.271,2/hari dari total biaya material handling layout awal

    An Unparalleled Sexual Dimorphism of Sperm Whale Encephalization

    The sperm whale Physeter macrocephalus (Linnaeus, 1758) is the largest toothed whales and possesses the highest absolute values for brain weight on the planet (together with the killer whale Orcinus orca). Former calculations of the encephalization quotient (EQ), which is used to compare brain size of different mammalian species, showed that the sperm whale brain is smaller than expected for its body mass. However, the data reported in the literature and formerly used to calculate the sperm whale EQ suffered from a potential bias due to the tendency to measure mostly larger males of this extreme sexually dimorphic species. Accordingly, we found that the brains of female sperm whales are close to the absolute weight range of the males, but, given the much lower body mass of females, their EQ results more than double of what reported before for the whole species, and is thus nearly into the primate range (female EQ = 1.28, male EQ = 0.56). This sexual dimorphism is unique among mammals. Female sperm whales live in large families in which social interactions and inter-individual communication are essential, while adult males live solitarily. Thus the particular sex-specific behavior of SWs may have led to a maternally-driven social evolution, and eventually contributed to achieve female EQ values (but not male EQs) among the highest ever calculated for mammals with respect to their large body mass

Cílem této práce je navrhnout výstavbu objektu v optimální časové posloupnosti.The subject of this bachelor thesis is the apartment building in Liberec. Based on the given project documentation, the author solves the object in terms of spatial, technological and time structure. It also deals with the dimensioning of the construction site equipment at the specified technological stages and with the elaboration of the detailed technological process on the specified construction process.     Malvinas-slope water intrusions on the northern Patagonia continental shelf

    The Patagonia continental shelf located off southeastern South America is bounded offshore by the Malvinas Current, which extends northward from northern Drake Passage (~55° S) to nearly 38° S. The transition between relatively warm-fresh shelf waters and Subantarctic Waters from the western boundary current is characterized by a thermohaline front extending nearly 2500 km. We use satellite derived sea surface temperature, and chlorophyll-<I>a</I> data combined with hydrographic and surface drifter data to document the intrusions of slope waters onto the continental shelf near 41° S. These intrusions create vertically coherent localized negative temperature and positive salinity anomalies extending onshore about 150 km from the shelf break. The region is associated with a center of action of the first mode of non-seasonal sea surface temperature variability and also relatively high chlorophyll-<I>a</I> variability, suggesting that the intrusions are important in promoting the local development of phytoplankton. The generation of slope water penetrations at this location may be triggered by the inshore excursion of the 100 m isobath, which appears to steer the Malvinas Current waters over the outer shelf

    Bakalářská práce zpracovává tři možnosti odhlučnění tří konstrukčních variant nosné železobetonové konstrukce schodiště v bytovém domě (tj. prefabrikované, prefamonolitické a monolitické). Využívá podkladů průmyslově vyráběných prvků omezujících šíření kročejového hluku do obytných prostor od různých výrobců dostupných na českém trhu. Návrh nosných konstrukcí je proveden na I. mezní stav. Dále je vypracován seznam výrobců a výrobků pro odhlučnění schodišťového prostoru.Bachelor thesis deals with three options of soundproofing isolation of three different structural design variants of reinforced concrete stairscase in an apartment building (ie, precasted, semi-monolithic and monolithic). It uses industrially produced elements reducing the spread of footfall sound in residential areas from different producers available on the Czech market. Design of load carrying construction is done by first limit state desing. It also makes lists of producers and their products.

    Where should MMS look for electron diffusion regions?

    A great possible achievement for the MMS mission would be crossing electron diffusion regions (EDR). EDR are regions in proximity of reconnection sites where electrons decouple from field lines, breaking the frozen in condition. Decades of research on reconnection have produced a widely shared map of where EDRs are. We expect reconnection to take place around a so called x-point formed by the intersection of the separatrices dividing inflowing from outflowing plasma. The EDR forms around this x-point as a small electron scale box nested inside a larger ion diffusion region. But this point of view is based on a 2D mentality. We have recently proposed that once the problem is considered in full 3D, secondary reconnection events can form [Lapenta et al., Nature Physics, 11, 690, 2015] in the outflow regions even far downstream from the primary reconnection site. We revisit here this new idea confirming that even using additional indicators of reconnection and even considering longer periods and wider distances the conclusion remains true: secondary reconnection sites form downstream of a reconnection outflow causing a sort of chain reaction of cascading reconnection sites. If we are right, MMS will have an interesting journey even when not crossing necessarily the primary site. The chances are greatly increased that even if missing a primary site during an orbit, MMS could stumble instead on one of these secondary sites.Comment: submitted to the Astronum 2015 Conference Proceeding

    C ion-implanted TiO2 thin film for photocatalytic applications

    Third-generation TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared by implantation of C+ ions into 110 nm thick TiO2 films. An accurate structural investigation was performed by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry, secondary ion mass spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, Raman-luminescence spectroscopy, and UV/VIS optical characterization. The C doping locally modified the TiO2 pure films, lowering the band-gap energy from 3.3 eV to a value of 1.8 eV, making the material sensitive to visible light. The synthesized materials are photocatalytically active in the degradation of organic compounds in water under both UV and visible light irradiation, without the help of any additional thermal treatment. These results increase the understanding of the C-doped titanium dioxide, helpful for future environmental applications. (C) 2015 AIP Publishing LLC
