The synthesis of a water-soluble derivative of rutin as an antiradical agent

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to synthesize a water-soluble derivative of rutin (compound 2) by introducing carboxylate groups on rutin's sugar moiety. The rutin derivative showed an almost 100-fold solubility increase in water. The antiradical capacity of compound 2 was evaluated using the luminol/AAPH system, and the derivative's activity was 1.5 times greater than that of Trolox®. Despite the derivative's high solubility in water (log P = -1.13), lipid peroxidation of brain homogenate membranes was very efficiently inhibited (inhibition values were only 19% lower than the inhibition values of rutin)

A Council of Europe perspective on the European Union: Crucial and complex cooperation

The article addresses the institutional role of the EU in the Council of Europe, with particular emphasis on EU participation in Council of Europe treaties and EU accession to the ECHR. While recognising the joint effort to achieve greater unity in the region of Europe through respect for the shared core values of pluralist democracy, human rights and the rule of law, the concerns raised by non-Member States of the EU about the impact of EU law and policies on the Council of Europe’s standards are examined. It is argued that the Council of Europe and the EU have a shared responsibility for upholding the effectiveness of their respective frameworks and ensuring that any overlapping competences do not create conflict. This is particularly evident when it comes to the European system for the protection of fundamental rights, which is characterised by overlapping standards and procedures. The existing cooperation between the Council of Europe and the EU should be strengthened through a more rational, rules-based approach. In particular, it is suggested that the two systems should jointly agree on a series of basic principles on the treaty-making process, providing for horizontal application by the introduction of specific rules on, for example, voting and speaking rights of the EU, the sharing of reporting obligations between the EU and its Member States under Council of Europe monitoring mechanisms, and financial arrangements. The EU’s participation and financial contribution to monitoring follow-up should always be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the specificities of each mechanism

Historia y valor.

The present dissertation is inserted in the field of Work Psychosociology, in the Masters Program of Social Psychology, from the UFMG. Its main theme is the actual work crisis. This study has a qualitative approach and its aim is to comprehend the psychosocialreality involved in the search for work/job, from the point of view or the worker in the jobless condition or from the perspective of a social agent implied with the issue. Its starting point is the effort of the AVIV Project in answering the workers demand for work/job in the Israeli Community of Belo Horizonte, due to the actual work crisis. Theoretically, this study was based on the French oriented Psychosociology, especially onEugène Enriquezs work, The Organization in Analysis, that considers the various dimensions involved in the social phenomenon and, therefore, extend the knowledge in this field of study. In trying to understand the reality involved in the search for work/job for the AVIV Project, the complex dimension of the actual work crisis became evident and its social and personal implications were enlarged, and, at the same time, this allowed to redefine the project, based on the comprehension of its limitations in front of these processes. The analysis of the Israeli Community of Belo Horizonte, through the AVIV project, points out, yet, positive processes of changing, by reestablishing the community links and also by the articulation with the historical dimension that can be found considering the work category. Others important themes related to the research work carried out, such as the actual international work crisis, the subject in the contemporary context and the question of identity were also developed.(Polakiewicz, Eleusa Mizrahy. The Actual Work Crisis: A Reflection in the Israeli Community of Minas through the Aviv Project. Dissertation for Master´s Degree. Program of Graduation in Psychology at the Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas da Universidade Federal de MinasGerais. Belo Horizonte, MG.
