Service employee adaptiveness : exploring the impact of role-stress and managerial control approaches
The research aims to explore the relationships between managerial control strategies, role stress and employee adaptiveness among call center employees.
Based on a conceptual model, a questionnaire based survey methodology is adopted. Data was collected from call center employees in India and the data was analysed through PLS methodology.
The study finds that Outcome control and activity control increase role stress while capability control does not have a significant impact. The interaction between outcome control and activity control also tends to impact role stress of employees. Role stress felt by employees have significant negative impact on employee adaptiveness
The sampling approach was convenience based affecting the generalizability of the results.
The papers provides guidelines for utilising managerial control approaches in a service setting.
The paper looks at managerial control approaches in a service setting – a topic not quite researched before
Segmentation of Image Using Watershed and Fast Level set methods
Technology is proliferating. Many methods are used for medical imaging .The important methods used here are fast marching and level set in comparison with the watershed transform .Since watershed algorithm was applied to an image has over clusters in segmentation . Both methods are applied to segment the medical images. First, fast marching method is used to extract the rough contours. Then level set method is utilized to finely tune the initial boundary. Moreover, Traditional fast marching method was modified by the use of watershed transform. The method is feasible in medical imaging and deserves further research. It could be used to segment the white matter, brain tumor and other small and simple structured organs in CT and MR images. In the future, we will integrate level set method with statistical shape analysis to make it applicable to more kinds of medical images and have better robustness to noise

Psychological contract violation and customer intention to reuse online retailers:exploring mediating and moderating mechanisms
This study examines the impact of psychological contract violation (PCV) on customer intention to reuse online retailer websites via the mediating mechanisms of trust and satisfaction. The moderating role of perceived structural assurance (SA) is also investigated. An empirical study conducted among online shoppers confirms the indirect effects of PCV on customers’ intention to reuse via trust and satisfaction. The findings also support the moderating impact of perceived SA in the network of relationships. The study underscores the importance of SA as a trust-building mechanism for mitigating the deleterious effects of PCV among online customers, although the role of SA in preserving satisfaction is found to be limited. The findings suggest that online retailers may benefit by investing in SA and addressing the negative effects of PCV proactively rather than simply relying on post-failure service recovery mechanisms
Generational diversity, personal attributes and organizational commitment: a study among employees of corporate consultancies
The main objective of this study is to identify the relationship of generational diversity, work values, attitudes & behavior and interpersonal skills towards organizational commitment among employees from corporate consultancies in Kuala Lumpur. The
research framework contained four independent variables, namely generational cohort, work values, attitude & behavior and interpersonal skill. The dependent variable of this study is organisational commitment (affective, continuance and normative). The targeted population for this study is employees from fifteen (15) corporate consultancies in Kuala Lumpur. This research used survey method. 436 questionnaires were distributed and 241 questionnaires were received back. The response rate is 55.27%. Statistical Package software for Social Science (SPSS) Version 21.0 was used to analyse the data. One- Way ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to test the hypothesis. One- Way ANOVA shows that there is significant difference among three generational cohort of employees on organizational commitment (affective, continuance and normative). The Pearson correlation coefficient shows there is significant relationship between work values, attitude & behavior and interpersonal skill of three generational cohorts towards organizational commitment (affective, continuance and normative
Systematic review of determinants of sales performance: Verbeke et al.’s (2011) classification extended
Abstract
Purpose
Considering recent changes in sales practices, such as the sales role becoming more strategic, increased reliance on technology for sales activities, increased stress from adding technological responsibilities to the sales role and decreased avenues of social support (such as traditional forms of community) to cope with work-related stressors, there is a need to reconsider Verbeke et al.’s (2011) classification scheme of determinants of sales performance, which was based on literature published before these critical changes became apparent. This paper aims to conduct a systematic review of sales performance research published during 1983–2018 to propose an extension to Verbeke et al.’s (2011) classification.
Design/methodology/approach
This paper followed a systematic approach to the literature review in five sequential steps – search, selection, quality control, extraction and synthesis – as suggested by Tranfield et al. (2003). In total, 261 peer-reviewed journal papers from 36 different journals were selected for extraction and synthesis.
Findings
The findings make the following additions to the classification: strategic and nonstrategic activities as a new category, technological drivers of sales performance and job-related psychosocial factors as a broader category to replace role perceptions. Derived from the job demand–control–support model, three subcategories within the category of job-related psychosocial factors are psychological demands (encompasses role perceptions and digital-age stressors such as technostress creators), job control and work-related social support.
Research limitations/implications
This paper identifies that manager’s role in facilitating technology skills, providing informal social support to remote or virtual salespeople using technology, and encouraging strategic behaviors in salespeople are future research areas having good potential. Understanding and building positive psychology aspects in salespeople and their effect on sales performance is another promising area.
Practical implications
Newly added technological drivers draw the attention of sales firms toward the influence of technology and its skilful usage on salesperson performance. Newly added strategic activities makes a case for the importance of strategic participation in salesperson performance.
Originality/value
This review extends Verbeke et al.’s (2011) classification scheme to include recent changes that sales profession and literature have undergone
An evaluation of low cost fpga-based software defined radios for education and research
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a low-cost Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform for educational and research purposes. An evaluation of existing SDR platforms and design techniques was performed, identifying low cost hardware and software suitable for a laboratory environment. The idea behind the project is to provide undergraduate students with a generic hardware platform so that they can perform simple radio communication experiments. This paper compares and evaluates the existing research projects and educational lab experiments done for SDR. Basic AM and FM radios are created and simulated on the hardware. The detailed procedure to create a design and download the design onto the hardware has been documented, and tutorials are created for step-by-step procedures to perform the experiments. With their ease of use and low cost, Spartan3E FPGA board and Simulink are the best choices for conducting low frequency radio communication experiments
