Siebie samych się boicie! Polska w kinie niemieckim po 1989 roku

The article is devoted to the image of Poland in German cinema after 1989. First, I present arguments against adopting the postcolonial approach, as it is insufficient for a complete critical description of this phenomenon, as well as inconsistent with the foreign policy of the united Germany. Next, I analyze the role of money as requisite, interpreting the film image of Poland as a caricature of Western rationality – a reality in which no other logic is possible apart from the logic of money (which is taboo in contemporary Germany)

The DAXX co-repressor is directly recruited to active regulatory elements genome-wide to regulate autophagy programs in a model of human prostate cancer.

While carcinoma of the prostate is the second most common cause of cancer death in the US, current methods and markers used to predict prostate cancer (PCa) outcome are inadequate. This study was aimed at understanding the genome-wide binding and regulatory role of the DAXX transcriptional repressor, recently implicated in PCa. ChIP-Seq analysis of genome-wide distribution of DAXX in PC3 cells revealed over 59,000 DAXX binding sites, found at regulatory enhancers and promoters. ChIP-Seq analysis of DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1), which is a key epigenetic partner for DAXX repression, revealed that DNMT1 binding was restricted to a small number of DAXX sites. DNMT1 and DAXX bound close to transcriptional activator motifs. DNMT1 sites were found to be dependent on DAXX for recruitment by analyzing DNMT1 ChIP-Seq following DAXX knockdown (K/D), corroborating previous findings that DAXX recruits DNMT1 to repress its target genes. Massively parallel RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) was used to compare the transcriptomes of WT and DAXX K/D PC3 cells. Genes induced by DAXX K/D included those involved in autophagy, and DAXX ChIP-Seq peaks were found close to the transcription start sites (TSS) of autophagy genes, implying they are more likely to be regulated by DAXX. In conclusion, DAXX binds active regulatory elements and co-localizes with DNMT1 in the prostate cancer genome. Given DAXX's putative regulatory role in autophagy, future studies may consider DAXX as a candidate marker and therapeutic target for prostate cancer

Brucellosis disease is progressing rapidly, marking not only the vast spread to cattle, but now seriously endangering human health. Brucellosis is an infectious disease dekurs chronic, caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella. This bacterial zoo-noses is transmitted as an infectious disease even in people from infected animals, products and by-products produced from them. In the brucellar infection map in all world Albania is also included, among the endemic dissemination countries. In 1988 our country was declared healthy from brucellosis. But political and economical changes that occurred in our country after 1990, brought a significant increase of brucelar infection in animals, as a result people were infected too. Therefore, the object of our study is the dynamics of the spread of brucellosis in humans at Korca’s region for the years 1999-2009. For examining this disease two methods are used in our bacteriological laboratory: evidence of Rosa-Bengal (RB) and Wright test (SAT). We have studied different cases in these years and from our analysis the result is positive for 1698 people. The increased number of people infected with brucellosis shows that this disease poses a serious problem with social risk to the health of population. These data will serve as a microbiological archive to prevent and reduce this disease, until it is eliminated by combining both veterinary services and hygienic sanitation

Giuseppe Culicchia’s novel is an example of a literary polemic between the society and the individual who is, at least to a certain extent, a rebel. On the one hand, in Culicchia’s story, this might denote a person who stands up for their own personal opinions regardless of what anyone else says. On the other hand, however, a rebel may actually stand up against what is right, and may lose himself in drug and alcohol abuse. All in all, the novel focuses on being an individual and refusing to follow the crowd that forces you to think the same way they do even if it means becoming an outcast to the society. The novel is also a polemic, and polemics are not only a vehicle for the exchange of opinions, cultures, knowledge and ideas, but they also are the most significant sign of our times

Dignita dello straniero Da Sharmin a Walid: due immagini dell'immigrato in Italia a confronto

The analyzed texts are definitely challenging borders and limits, including those of immigration, that means the exploration of the marginalized aspects of life and marginalized elements of society. They put a great emphasis on the human as physical beings in a physical world, the human that try to live their lives in the meaningful and conscious way. They struggle against a world in which they are emarginated. The stories of the immigrants could be seen as the reconceptualization of the Italian society, its history that in this case refers to postcolonial consequences and the cultural constructs. The immigrants in Italy should no longer look for a pattern of life, they’d rather celebrate its specificity and try to be moral creatures, replacing stereotypes with their genuine experiences

The analyzed text puts a great emphasis on the human as physical beings in a physical world, in which body image is a meaningful and conscious way to express identity. The female identity includes concepts of self-esteem, self-perception, sexuality and social role and it can be challenging for a number of reasons. Body image can be a powerful way to fulfill the social expectations but it can also be very vulnerable because appearances change so much and cultural messages that fuel dissatisfaction can be very strong. Having a beautiful body can easily be linked to the concepts of success, sexuality, great expectations. Having ugly body can lead to emargination and struggling against the world that from the ancient times promotes the value of beauty in female

Introduction: Socio-demographic forecasts indicate a stable increase in the population of elderly people, which gives rise to the need to examine the relationship between the acceptance of chronic illness and socio-demographic variables not only in terms of subjective negative emotions but also because of possible social consequences. The acceptance of a chronic disease is determined by factors related to its character including its severity and the discomfort it brings about but also by factors connected with the patient that is socio-demographic determinants. Objective: The objective of the study was to examine the relationship between socio-demographic variables and the acceptance of a chronic disease of locomotive organs. Material and methods: The study was conducted in the group of 150 patients diagnosed with a systemic connective tissue disease during its stable phase. A socio-demographic questionnaire as well as a standardised Acceptance of Illness Scale (AIS) adapted by Juszczyński were applied in the study. The study was conducted in accordance with the recommendations of the Declaration of Helsinki. Results: In the group of 150 patients suffering from a systemic connective tissue disease the percentage of women was higher than the percentage of men (60.7% vs. 39.3%). The indicator of the acceptance of illness in the group examined reached 24.5 ±7.5. The strongest correlation was found between the acceptance level and married probants (eta = 0.26; p = 0.01), high education (eta = 0.24; p = 0.04) and working activity (eta = 0.20; p = 0.01). Conclusions: Socio-demographic factors which determine the level of illness acceptance include age, marital status, education and the source of income. The acceptance of illness in the examined group of patients with systemic connective tissue diseases reached 24.5
