Pharmacotherapy of Parkinson’s disease:Progress or regress?
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic, progressive disease of the central nervous system (CNS),characterized by a slow loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, leading to significantdecrease in dopamine (DA) levels in the striatum. Currently used drugs, such as levodopa(L-DOPA), amantadine, dopamine agonists (D) or anticholinergic drugs, are not effective enough, and do not eliminate the causes of disease. Many research centers are conducting researchon new forms of currently used drugs (e.g. Duodopa, XP21279, IPX066), new drugs of alreadyknown groups (e.g. safinamide), medicines that suppress side effects of L-DOPA (e.g. AFQ056,fipamezole), and, finally, compounds with a novel mechanism of action (e.g. PMY50028, A2Areceptor antagonists). A lot of scientific reports indicate an important role of A2A receptorsin the regulation of the central movement system, so a new group of compounds – selectiveantagonists of A2A receptors (e.g. istradefylline, preladenant, SYN115) – has been developed and their potential use in PD has been examined. Clinical studies of A2A receptor antagonistshave shown that this group of compounds can shorten off periods and at the same time theydo not worsen dyskinesias in patients with PD. Moreover, there is ongoing research on newforms of treatment, such as gene therapy. Attempts to apply the viral vector AAV-2, whichwill be able to infect neurons with a variety of genes, including the gene of glutamate decarboxylase(GAD), neurturin (NTN), or aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase, are currently beingcarried out. The results of phase I and II clinical studies showed some efficacy of this form oftreatment, but the method requires further studies. An analysis of potential future therapiesof Parkinson’s disease suggests that some progress in this field has been made
The Lie as An Indicator of Social Maladjustment of Young People
The aim of the study was to compare views and attitudes towards lies held by Polish teenagers who were properly socialized and socially maladjusted (179 people). The diagnostic survey method and the questionnaire technique were used. It has been established that socially adaptedyouth better recognize lies, more often use altruistic and manipulative lies, more often lies to parents and teachers. Also, being lied to more often, they react with breaking contact with the liar and experience disappointment and anger; moreover, in the situation of being caught lying, they experience shame more often. In turn, socially maladjusted young people use destructive lies that aim to hurt someone. It was also found that the use of a lie, views on the admissibilityof a lie and the tendency to justify it are independent of social adaptation
Post-COVID-19 Własne pokoje: Wnioski wyciągnięte z wirtualnych projektów rozwoju zawodowego przeznaczonych dla nauczycieli wczesnego dzieciństwa w Ontario
This paper reflects and explores lessons learned during two professional learning series related to the pedagogical practices of early childhood educators (ECEs) in Ontario, Canada. Drawing on a comparative analysis of our observations, collaborative inquiries, and discussions, we underline post-COVID-19 conditions that change how we think, engage, and envision possibilities in professional learning. We discuss the way the use of technology at the intersection of time and space and carefully chosen pedagogical approaches pushed us to reconsider current practices used in the design of professional learning activities, the implementation, and the responses to educators’ learning. We focus on the way technology helped us envision and plan for virtual rooms as environments as third teachers. Trading the traditional professional workshop-like activities with fixed time boundaries for virtual café-style learning, introducing design thinking, distributed leadership, Indigenous world views, and rhizomatic wonderings, we discuss our decisions to change the directions of professional learning from focusing on skill development and transmission of knowledge to enhancing dispositions needed to become lifelong learners, innovators, and advocates. We conclude the paper with invitations and provocations for educators, academics, researchers, and regulatory bodies to further discuss professional learning activities for the early childhood education (ECE) community in Ontario. In brief, we focus on removing the dividing practices between professional learning activities and pedagogical approaches as a starting point to envision possibilities in Ontario’s ECE field.Autorzy prezentują i analizują wnioski wyciągnięte podczas dwóch serii szkoleń zawodowych związanych z praktykami pedagogicznymi nauczycieli wczesnego dzieciństwa (ECE) w Ontario w Kanadzie.

Determinants of Involuntary Job Termination in the Polish Labor Market
To date there does not exist one a generally acceptable measure or index of Specialization in International Trade. The intention of this article is to evaluate the exogenous dismissal probability for a certain worker depending on her characteristics for the Polish labor market. To model this phenomenon I considered a range of count data models. In the analysis the data from the Polish General Social Survey of 2008 was used. Covariates explaining a number of unemployment spells were selected in the spirit of the human-capital theory. In the course of the study existence of intransferable firm-specific human capital across employers and depreciation of the human capital acquired through learning by doing have been empirically confirmed. The conducted analysis may be considered the first step in the calibration of a job-search model with heterogeneous agents.2-111-1
Narodziny i rozwój polskiej pedagogiki resocjalizacyjnej
Specialists of various fields have directed their studies towards lexicon
for 2 main reasons: the identity crisis of a given field of study and the extent
of its development. When a miscommunication emerges, it necessitates systematization
or at least organizing terminologies in the form of dictionaries, lexicon
and encyclopediasSą na ogół dwa powody, dla których specjaliści z rozmaitych
monodyscyplin zaczynają zajmować się słownictwem. Pierwszy z nich, to kryzys
tożsamości danej dyscypliny. Drugi, to jej mniej lub bardziej wyraźny jej
rozkwit. Gdy pojawiają się nieporozumienia, narasta potrzeba systematyzacji
czy choćby uporządkowania terminologii w postaci słowników, leksykonów i encyklopedi
O karze, tolerancji i dobroczynności w pedagogice resocjalizacyjnej
In this article author examines the association of the three strands of pedagogy: segregation, integration and inclusion with ethical concepts such as punishment, tolerance and charity (mercy) and with three science-making paradigms as well as with three varieties of pedagogy - theoretical and practical.W artykule autor rozważa powiązanie trzech nurtów pedagogiki: z jednej strony – segregacyjnego, integracyjnego oraz inkluzyjnego z pojęciami etycznymi, takimi jak: kara, tolerancja i dobroczynność (miłosierdzie), z drugiej zaś – z trzema paradygmatami uprawiania nauki i trzema odmianami pedagogiki jako dyscypliny teoretycznej i praktycznej
