Walking the talk : an investigation of the pedagogical practices and discourses of an international broadcasting organisation : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Education in Adult Education, Massey University, Manawatu, New Zealand
Increasingly our knowledge of the world around us comes from the media,
mediated by professional broadcasters. As the education and training of
broadcasters has progressively become associated with educational
institutions there has been more theorising about what broadcasters should
know and how they should be educated, however the actual educational
and training practices of broadcasting organisations remains under
researched and under theorised. This research looks at the educational
and training practices of an international broadcasting organisation and
how they are sustained by the organisational ethos through a series of
interviews with people directly involved in the organisation‟s training
practices and an examination of a selection of the organisation‟s
promotional and policy documents. From this comes a picture of an
organisation committed to excellence and also a vision of broadcasting as
an emancipatory activity. This commitment and vision is reflected in its inhouse
training practices and also its media development work. The
interviews with trainers, project managers, administrators and researchers
reveal broadcasters who are pragmatic idealists and reflective practitioners
and whose passion and commitment to the transformative powers of
education and training are undeniable

Weakening the Isolation Assumption of Tamper-proof Hardware Tokens
Recent results have shown the usefulness of tamper-proof hardware tokens as a
setup assumption for building UC-secure two-party computation protocols, thus
providing broad security guarantees and allowing the use of such protocols as
buildings blocks in the modular design of complex cryptography protocols. All
these works have in common that they assume the tokens to be completely
isolated from their creator, but this is a strong assumption. In this work we
investigate the feasibility of cryptographic protocols in the setting where the
isolation of the hardware token is weakened.
We consider two cases: (1) the token can relay messages to its creator, or
(2) the creator can send messages to the token after it is sent to the
receiver. We provide a detailed characterization for both settings, presenting
both impossibilities and information-theoretically secure solutions
B-52B-008/DTV (Drop Test Vehicle) configuration 1 (with and without fins) flight test results - captive flight and drop test missions
The B-52B-008 drop test consisted of one takeoff roll to 60 KCAS, two captive flights to accomplish limited safety of flight flutter and structural demonstration testing, and seven drop test flights. Of the seven drop test missions, one flight was aborted due to the failure of the hook mechanism to release the drop test vehicle (DTV); but the other six flights successfully dropped the DTV

Measuring the Impacts of Improving Research Capacity: The Case of Training in Wheat Disease Resistance
It is notoriously difficult to assess the economic value of research aimed at improving research capacity, particularly in enhancing human capital. In this paper, a framework is developed and an analysis is undertaken of the value of training for scientists in wheat rust resistance in India. The value of the training is assessed through marginal analysis of the improvement in the level of disease resistence flowing from the increased capacity. On that basis, the value of programs to build human capacity through training or further education can be estimated. While such estimates need to be highly qualified, they provide a basis for quantifying the value of R&D capacity building.capacity building, training, economic, rust, wheat, Research Methods/ Statistical Methods,
