Langmuir dark solitons in dense ultrarelativistic electron-positron gravito-plasma in pulsar magnetosphere
Nonlinear propagation of electrostatic modes in ultrarelativistic dense
elelectron-positron gravito-plasma at the polar cap region of pulsar
magnetosphere is considered. A nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equation is obtained
from the reductive perturbation method which predicts the existence of Langmuir
dark solitons. Relevance of the propagating dark solitons to the pulsar radio
emission is discussed.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures. Accepted for publication in Astrophysics and

Sensitivity of Numerical Predictions to the Permeability Coefficient in Simulations of Melting and Solidification Using the Enthalpy-Porosity Method
The high degree of uncertainty and conflicting literature data on the value
of the permeability coefficient (also known as the mushy zone constant), which
aims to dampen fluid velocities in the mushy zone and suppress them in solid
regions, is a critical drawback when using the fixed-grid enthalpy-porosity
technique for modelling non-isothermal phase-change processes. In the present
study, the sensitivity of numerical predictions to the value of this
coefficient was scrutinised. Using finite-volume based numerical simulations of
isothermal and non-isothermal melting and solidification problems, the causes
of increased sensitivity were identified. It was found that depending on the
mushy-zone thickness and the velocity field, the solid-liquid interface
morphology and the rate of phase-change are sensitive to the permeability
coefficient. It is demonstrated that numerical predictions of an isothermal
phase-change problem are independent of the permeability coefficient for
sufficiently fine meshes. It is also shown that sensitivity to the choice of
permeability coefficient can be assessed by means of an appropriately defined
P\'eclet number.Comment: The influence of the mushy-zone constant in simulations of melting

A microscopic formulation of dynamical spin injection in ferromagnetic-nonmagnetic heterostructures
We develop a microscopic formulation of dynamical spin injection in
heterostructure comprising nonmagnetic metals in contact with ferromagnets. The
spin pumping current is expressed in terms of Green's function of the
nonmagnetic metal attached to the ferromagnet where a precessing magnetization
is induced. The formulation allows for the inclusion of spin-orbit coupling and
disorder. The Green's functions involved in the expression for the current are
expressed in real-space lattice coordinates and can thus be efficiently
computed using recursive methods.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figure
Local Radon Descriptors for Image Search
Radon transform and its inverse operation are important techniques in medical
imaging tasks. Recently, there has been renewed interest in Radon transform for
applications such as content-based medical image retrieval. However, all
studies so far have used Radon transform as a global or quasi-global image
descriptor by extracting projections of the whole image or large sub-images.
This paper attempts to show that the dense sampling to generate the histogram
of local Radon projections has a much higher discrimination capability than the
global one. In this paper, we introduce Local Radon Descriptor (LRD) and apply
it to the IRMA dataset, which contains 14,410 x-ray images as well as to the
INRIA Holidays dataset with 1,990 images. Our results show significant
improvement in retrieval performance by using LRD versus its global version. We
also demonstrate that LRD can deliver results comparable to well-established
descriptors like LBP and HOG.Comment: To appear in proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Image

Current iodine status and progress over the last decade towards elimination of iodine deficiency in Rajkot District, Gujarat
Objective: To find out prevalence of goitre in primary school children; to compare prevalence with previous survey; to determine median urinary iodine concentration; to assess level of iodine in salt samples at household and retail shop level; and to study profile of salt sold at retail shops. Design & Settings: 30 cluster survey study in primary schools of Rajkot district. Subjects: Children studying in 1st to 7th standard. Methods: Total 70 students including five boys and five girls from 1st to 7th standard present in class on the day of visit were selected randomly for Goitre examination, so, total 2100 students were examined in schools. Urine sample was collected from one boy & one girl from each standard in each cluster. From community, 28 students including two boys and two girls from each standard in same age group were examined and also salt samples were tested from their households. From each village, one retail shop was visited and salts were purchased and tested for iodine on the spot with spot kit. Results: Goitre prevalence was found 8.8% among primary school children compare to 5.6% in 1999. As the age increases the Goitre prevalence also increases except in age group of 12 years. Median urinary iodine excretion level was found 110 µg/L. Iodine level >15 ppm was found in 81% salts samples tested at household level. Conclusion: Present study showed mild Goitre prevalence in primary school children in Rajkot district of Gujarat but still iodine content of salt found inadequate at household level
Rancang Bangun Sistem Informasi Penerimaan Siswa Baru pada Smk Budhi Warman 1 Jakarta
System acceptance of new students that is used today by SMK Budhi Warman 1 still using manual systems, where the committee registration data entry by recording the books, authors therefore intends to make the information system admission of new students web-based SMK Budhi Warman 1 . Making the information system admission of new students using the web-based PHP programming language and MySQL database. Registration system is web-based SMK Budhi Warman 1 Jakarta can be easier for potential new students to register to save time and cost than if it comes directly to the school and with the information system of information admission of new students, are expected to assist and simplify the processing of learners SMK Budhi Warman 1 Jakarta
