The double Ringel-Hall algebra on a hereditary abelian finitary length category

In this paper, we study the category $\mathscr{H}^{(\rho)}$ of semi-stable coherent sheaves of a fixed slope $\rho$ over a weighted projective curve. This category has nice properties: it is a hereditary abelian finitary length category. We will define the Ringel-Hall algebra of $\mathscr{H}^{(\rho)}$ and relate it to generalized Kac-Moody Lie algebras. Finally we obtain the Kac type theorem to describe the indecomposable objects in this category, i.e. the indecomposable semi-stable sheaves.Comment: 29 page

Recollements of Module Categories

We establish a correspondence between recollements of abelian categories up to equivalence and certain TTF-triples. For a module category we show, moreover, a correspondence with idempotent ideals, recovering a theorem of Jans. Furthermore, we show that a recollement whose terms are module categories is equivalent to one induced by an idempotent element, thus answering a question by Kuhn.Comment: Comments are welcom

[email protected] Abstract The aim of this study was to validate the Portuguese version of the self-administered MacNew Heart Disease Health-related Quality of Life (MacNew) questionnaire in patients after diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome. The MacNew, with a Global score and physical, emotional and social subscales, the Short Form SF-36 (SF-36) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) were completed at baseline by 150 patients and again by 48 clinically stable patients 2-3 weeks later. A cohort of 50 different patients completed the same questionnaires before and after a cardiac rehabilitation program in order to examine responsiveness. Acceptance of the MacNew by the patients was good and the three factor model was substantiated and explained 52.2% of the variance. Internal consistency, intra-class-correlation, and test-retest reliability each exceeded 0.72. The predicted construct validity hypotheses were partially confirmed. The discriminative validity of the MacNew was confirmed with significantly higher MacNew scores for patients with normal left ventricular function, with improved health status, and who were not anxious or depressed. Even though MacNew scores improved significantly following cardiac rehabilitation, the evaluative validity of the MacNew was less robust with small responsiveness statistics. The Portuguese version of the MacNew HRQL questionnaire appears to be a reliable, valid, and moderately responsive instrument to evaluate health-related quality of life after diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome. Expansion and Harvesting of hMSC-TERT

The expansion of human mesenchymal stem cells as suspension culture by means of spinner flasks and microcarriers, compared to the cultivation in tissue culture flasks, offers the advantage of reducing the requirements of large incubator capacities as well as reducing the handling effort during cultivation and harvesting. Nonporous microcarriers are preferable when the cells need to be kept in viable condition for further applications like tissue engineering or cell therapy. In this study, the qualification of Biosilon, Cytodex 1, Cytodex 3, RapidCell and P102-L for expansion of hMSC-TERT with an associated harvesting process using either trypsin, accutase, collagenase or a trypsin-accutase mixture was investigated. A subsequent adipogenic differentiation of harvested hMSC-TERT was performed in order to observe possible negative effects on their (adipogenic) differentiation potential as a result of the cultivation and harvesting method. The cultivated cells showed an average growth rate of 0.52 d-1. The cells cultivated on Biosilon, RapidCell and P102-L were harvested succesfully achieving high cell yield and vitalities near 100%. This was not the case for cells on Cytodex 1 and Cytodex 3. The trypsin-accutase mix was most effective. After spinner expansion and harvesting the cells were successfully differentiated to adipocytes

Sounds of Silence : The Reflexivity, Self-decentralization, and Transformation Dimensions of Silence at Work

This article explores silence as a phenomenon and practice in the workplace through a Buddhist-enacted lens where silence is intentionally encouraged. It brings forward a reconsideration of the roles of silence in organizations by proposing emancipatory dimensions of silence—reflexivity, self-decentralization, and transformation. Based on 54 interviews with employees and managers in a Vietnamese telecommunications organization, we discuss the dynamic nature of silence, and the possible coexistence of the constructive and the oppressive aspects of silence in a workplace spirituality context. Instead of studying silence as one-dimensional, we call for an integrated view and argue that studying silence requires consideration of the multiplicity of its interconnected dimensions. By considering silence as a relational and emerging processes constructed around its vagueness and uncertainties, our study reveals the many possible ways silence is organized and organizes and sheds light on silence as a marker of the complexities and paradoxes of organizational life

Optical Properties of Pulse Laser Heated Soot

To investigate the transient change of soot optical properties resulting from pulsed laser heating of soot in a cooled exhaust plume we have simultaneously performed cw light extinction at 405 and 830 nm and elastic light scattering at 1064 nm. A reversible increase to the 830-nm light extinction of up to 7%, observed during the time period where the soot was hot, suggests a temperature-dependent light absorption refractive index function, E(m \u3bb ). At low fluence, small permanent increases of E(m \u3bb ) of <2% were also observed. 405-nm extinction measurements revealed that the soot likely contained material which continued to absorb 405-nm radiation when desorbed, thus complicating measurement interpretation. 1064-nm light scattering measurements showed a gradual decrease of scattering propensity with increasing laser fluence up to the point of material loss, which is consistent with the expected decrease of the structure factor of the soot aggregates as they expand. It is concluded that variations of the optical properties are occurring at the time of laser-induced incandescence (LII) emission, which should be accounted for in time-resolved LII measurement interpretation. \ua9 2011 Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada.Peer reviewed: YesNRC publication: Ye
