Using bsγb \to s\gamma to Probe Top Quark Couplings

Possible anomalous couplings of the top-quark to on-shell photons and gluons are constrained by the recent results of the CLEO Collaboration on both inclusive and exclusive radiative BB decays. We find that the process \bsg\ can lead to reasonable bounds on both the anomalous electric and magnetic dipole moments of the top-quark, while essentially no limits are obtained on the corresponding chromoelectric and chromomagnetic moments, which enter the expression for the decay rate only through operator mixing.Comment: 10 pages plus 6 figures (available by request), LaTex, ANL-HEP-PR-93-3

Supersymmetric bsγb \rightarrow s \gamma with Large Chargino Contributions

Supersymmetric (SUSY) theories are often thought to give large branching ratios for bsγb \rightarrow s \gamma from charged Higgs loops. We show that in many cases chargino loop contributions can cancel those of the Higgs, and SUSY can give B(bsγ)B(b \rightarrow s \gamma) at or below the \SM\ prediction. We show this occurs because the large stop mass splittings usually found in SUSY break a GIM mechanism suppression. These effects are strongly enhanced by large tanβ\tan\beta, so that B(bsγ)B(b \rightarrow s \gamma) is very sensitive to the value of tanβ\tan\beta, contrary to what has been claimed. We also note that the supergravity relation B0=A01B_0 = A_0-1 is somewhat disfavored over the general case.Comment: TRI-PP-93-66. 12pp (Plain LATEX)+4 fig not incl. Recalculation of QCD Corrections to bsγb \to s \gamma Decay

We give a more complete calculation of bsγb \to s\gamma decay, including leading log QCD corrections from mtopm_{top} to MWM_W in addition to corrections from MWM_{W} to mbm_b. We have included the full set of dimension-6 operators and corrected numerical mistakes of anomalous dimensions in a previous paper\cite{Cho}. Comparing with the calculations without QCD running from mtopm_{top} to MWM_W\cite{Mis}, the inclusive decay rate is found to be enhanced. At mt=150m_t=150GeV, it results in 12\% enhancement, and for mt=250m_t=250GeV, 15\% is found. The total QCD effect makes an enhanced factor of 4.2 at mt=150m_t=150GeV, and 3.2 for mt=250m_t=250GeV.Comment: 16 pages, 7 figures (uuencoded ps files), Changes of description. To appear in Phys. A lattice study of the exclusive BKγB \to K^* \gamma decay amplitude, using the Clover action at β=6.0\beta=6.0

We present the results of a numerical calculation of the BKγB\to K^* \gamma form factors. The results have been obtained by studying the relevant correlation functions at β=6.0\beta=6.0, on an 183×6418^3 \times 64 lattice, using the O(a){\rm O(a)}-improved fermion action, in the quenched approximation. From the study of the matrix element we have obtained the form factor T1(0)T_1(0) which controls the exclusive decay rate. The results are compared with the recent results from CLEO. We also discuss the compatibility between the scaling laws predicted by the Heavy Quark Effective Theory (HQET) and pole dominance, by studying the mass- and q2q^2-dependence of the form factors. From our analysis, it appears that the form factors follow a mass behaviour compatible with the predictions of the HQET and that the q2q^2-dependence of T2T_2 is weaker than would be predicted by pole dominance.Comment: 17 pages, LaTeX + epsf.sty. Examination of the Resonance Contributions to Dileptonic Rare B-Decays

    Get PDF
We analyse the long-distance contribution to BXs+B\to X_s\ell^+\ell^- differential decay rate when the momentum dependence of ψ\psi and ψ\psi'-γ\gamma conversion strength is taken into account. The results indicate that the resonance to nonresonance interference in the dilepton invariant mass distribution is substantially reduced.Comment: 10 pages, Latex, one figure (included

Constraints From bsγb \to s\gamma on the Left-Right Symmetric Model

Recent results from the CLEO Collaboration on both inclusive and exclusive radiative BB decays are used to constrain the parameter space of two versions of the Left-Right Symmetric Model. In the first scenario, when the left- and right-handed Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa mixing matrices are equal, VL=VRV_L=V_R, the radiative BB decay data is shown to lead to strong bounds on the WLWRW_L-W_R mixing angle that are quite insensitive to either the top quark or WRW_R mass. The second scenario examined is that of Gronau and Wakaizumi wherein bb-quark decays proceed only via right-handed currents and VLV_L and VRV_R are quite distinct. For this model, the combined constraints from Tevatron WRW_R searches, the BB lifetime, and radiative BB decays lead to a very highly restricted allowed range for the WLWRW_L-W_R mixing angle.Comment: 16 pages, 9 figures(not included), LaTex, SLAC-PUB-642

The CP asymmetry for B--> K^* l^+ l^- decay in the general two Higgs doublet model

We study CP asymmetry for the exclusive decay B --> K^* l^+ l^- in the two Higgs doublet model with three level flavor changing neutral currents (model III). We analyse the dependency of this quantity to the new phase coming from the complex Yukawa couplings in the theory and we find that there exist a considerable CP violation for the relevant process. Further, we see that the sign of the Wilson coefficient C_7^{eff} can be determined by fixing dilepton mass. Therefore, the future measurements of CP asymmetry for B --> K^* l^+ l^- decay will give a powerful information about the sign of Wilson coefficient C_{7}^{eff} and the new physics beyond the SM.Comment: 22 pages, 8 figure

Inclusive dileptonic rare B decays with an extra generation of vector-like quarks

We investigate the leading effects of extending the Standard Model of electroweak interactions by an extra iso-singlet up- and down- type quark pair on various distributions and total branching ratio of the inclusive B-> X_s l^+ l^- (l =e,\mu) rare B decays. The presence of the extra vector-like down quark DD results in the non-unitarity of the extended quark mixing matrix V, which in turn leads to b-> s FCNC at the tree level proportional to (V^\dagger V)_{sb}. On the other hand, the effective penguin and box vertex functions are sensitive to the mass of the extra iso-singlet up quark m_U. The experimental upper bound on BR(B-> X_s \mu^+ \mu^-) is used to constrain the parameters of the model. It is shown that the shapes of the differential branching ratio and forward-backward asymmetry distribution are very sensitive to the value of the model parameters. We also calculate the CP aymmetry distribution of the dileptonic decay in the vector-like quark model. It is shown that, for a typical choice of the model parameters, asymmetries up to around 10% can be achieved for certain values of the dilepton invariant mass.Comment: 15 pages, 2 figure
