The detectability of eccentric binary pulsars
Studies of binary pulsars provide insight into various theories of physics.
Detection of such systems is challenging due to the Doppler modulation of the
pulsed signal caused by the orbital motion of the pulsar. We investigated the
loss of sensitivity in eccentric binary systems for different types of
companions. This reduction of sensitivity should be considered in future
population synthesis models for binary pulsars. This loss can be recovered
partially by employing the `acceleration search' algorithm and even better by
using the `acceleration-jerk search' algorithm.Comment: 2 pages. To appear in the proceeding of "The Metrewavelength Sky

Strong-coupling expansion for ultracold bosons in an optical lattice at finite temperatures in the presence of superfluidity
We develop a strong-coupling () expansion technique for calculating
the density profile for bosonic atoms trapped in an optical lattice with an
overall harmonic trap at finite temperature and finite on site interaction in
the presence of superfluid regions. Our results match well with quantum Monte
Carlo simulations at finite temperature. We also show that the superfluid order
parameter never vanishes in the trap due to proximity effect. Our calculations
for the scaled density in the vacuum to superfluid transition agree well with
the experimental data for appropriate temperatures. We present calculations for
the entropy per particle as a function of temperature which can be used to
calibrate the temperature in experiments. We also discuss issues connected with
the demonstration of universal quantum critical scaling in the experiments.Comment: 11 pages, 9 figure
High-density Skyrmion matter and Neutron Stars
We examine neutron star properties based on a model of dense matter composed
of B=1 skyrmions immersed in a mesonic mean field background. The model
realizes spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking non-linearly and incorporates
scale-breaking of QCD through a dilaton VEV that also affects the mean fields.
Quartic self-interactions among the vector mesons are introduced on grounds of
naturalness in the corresponding effective field theory. Within a plausible
range of the quartic couplings, the model generates neutron star masses and
radii that are consistent with a preponderance of observational constraints,
including recent ones that point to the existence of relatively massive neutron
stars with mass M 1.7 Msun and radius R (12-14) km. If the existence of neutron
stars with such dimensions is confirmed, matter at supra-nuclear density is
stiffer than extrapolations of most microscopic models suggest.Comment: 27 pages, 5 figures, AASTeX style; to be published in The

A questionnaire based study on the knowledge, attitude, and the practice of ecopharmacology among the healthcare professionals in a teaching hospital in India
Background: Ecopharmacology which deals with the health hazards posed by discarded or used medicinal products in the environment, is a globally emerging issue. There are guidelines for pharmaceutical waste management (Like GMP and FDA guidelines) for the manufacturing units, pharmacists and consumers. However, it is uncertain whether consumers are aware of it. Before beginning the process of creating awareness, it is first necessary to assess the existing knowledge of the issue in the community. This study was planned to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of ecopharmacology in the medical personnel and students in our institute. Methods: It was a questionnaire based cross-sectional observational study. Study population included MBBS students, nursing students and resident doctors. Total 500 consenting participants were enrolled and subjected to a structured KAP questionnaire and data was expressed in percentage. Questionnaire consisted of 20 questions out of which 3 were open ended and remaining closed ended. Results: Present study result showed that 73% respondents had heard of term ecopharmacology and majority (98%) felt that it was their responsibility to protect environment from pharmaceutical waste. Responses from 83% of participants indicated that they were worried about the excess medicines at their homes. 87% of participants threw it in garbage bin, but (58%) were unsure whether their drug disposing method was safe and 25 % knew it was unsafe. Most respondents (94%) felt that there should be guidelines for safe disposal of expired/unused drug and were enthusiastic about participating in campaign for this issue. Medical personnel also suggested some solutions to deal with this problem. Conclusions: Awareness and concern regarding the problem is high however in absence of knowledge of methods of safe disposal of unused drug, it is not transforming into safe disposal practices
Evaluation of the educational level and its influence on the success rate of complete denture
Except for denture quality, many other factors are related to a patient’s satisfaction with complete dentures (CDS). Complete denture construction provides dentures that have a pleasing appearance, maintain normal speech, provide occlusal support and supply adequate means for the mastication of food. In addition to this dentures should be comfortable and contribute to the continuing health of the supporting tissues. The aim of the study was to find if and how the educational level of the patient influenced the success rate of complete denture delivered in Saveetha Dental College. A survey was conducted among 119 patients who had received complete dentures from Saveetha Dental College Questionnaire on the educational level and the quality of their denture was asked. The data was retrieved from 86,000 patients among which 119 complete denture denture patients were selected. The results were tabulated, Descriptive statistics, cross tabulation and chi-square test was done by SPSS IBM software 20.0 The most common educational qualification of the patient was higher (33%). It was found that a better satisfactory level was found in high educational qualification patients p>0.001. Level of education, self perception of affectivity are all related to patient satisfaction. Within the limits of the study it was found that patients with higher educational level had more satisfaction of the denture than the patients with low educational qualification
The age of first dental visit -A retrospective study
Early regular dental care is an important step that every parent should be aware. The first dental visit should be shortly after the child’s first tooth erupts and not longer after one year. The study was aimed to assess the age of the first dental visit of a child. Data were collected retrospectively from the dental records of saveetha dental college in India. Only children attending their first dental visits with no previous dental experience were included in the study. Descriptive statistics, cross-tabulation analysis, and chi-squared tests were done. The results concluded that about 53% of the first dental visit was found to be 11-18 years of age with male children being addressed more. Parental compliance with the standard age for initial dental visitation recommended by the major dental academies is lacking

Reasons for extraction of permanent teeth - An institutional study
Cause for tooth extraction had large geographical and cultural differences in different Countries. A decrease in the number of teeth can serve as an indicator of socio-economic and oral hygiene level. A reduction in the number of teeth may result in poor dietary habits and deterioration of quality of life. The aim of this study was to investigate the primary reasons for extraction of permanent teeth and to evaluate its association with age, gender among patients treated in Saveetha Dental College and hospital. In this retrospective cross-sectional study, digital case records of all patients reported to saveetha dental college and hospital from June 2019 to March 2020 were reviewed. All adult patients who underwent extraction of teeth were included in the study. Demographic details of patients and the reasons for extraction of the permanent tooth were recorded from digital case records, clinical photographs and radiographs. Retrieved data was analysed using IBM SPSS Software Version 23.0. Descriptive statistics and tests of association for categorical variables by Chi square tests were done and results were obtained. P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. The common reason for the extraction of permanent teeth was dental caries (34.2%). Tooth extraction was more in the age group 18-35 years (41.2%) and the most common reason was dental caries (41.7%). The association between age and reasons for tooth extraction was statistically significant.(p<0.001).Tooth extraction was more in the males (58.6%) compared to females (41.3%) and the most common reason for extraction in the males was dental caries (31.3%) and in females was dental caries (38.2%). The association between gender and reasons of tooth extraction was statistically significant(p<0.001). The association between age and gender of the patients undergoing extraction of permanent teeth was also statistically significant.(p<0.001). Within the limits of the study, dental caries was the most common reason for the extraction of permanent teeth. Males underwent more extractions than females and the predominant age group undergoing extraction of teeth were 18-35 years. This fact should be kept in mind while planning preventive programs and more emphasis should be given for prevention of dental caries or periodontal disease based on age of the target population
Rheology of HTPB Propellant: Effect of Mixing Speed and Mixing Time
The effect of mixer blade speed and mixing cycle time on the rheological behaviour of an optimized HTPB-based propellant formulations has been studied keeping the temperature constant. Variations in yield stress and viscosity at unit shear rate have been determined as a function of time for different mixing speeds. The effect of mixing on the extent of pseudoplasticity has been represented in the form of a bar chart. A correlation in terms of shear and yield stresses has been developed for viscosity index, i.e., the viscosity at unit shear rate as a function of mixer blade speed
