nuevo fenómeno sociológico a escala global.
cotidiana. This research is aimed to creating a social network for students of the course
"General Didactics" in 1st year of Pedagogy; a network adapted to this field and to
a university context, to provide a tool for real-time communication and information
exchange between students, teachers and colleagues at other Spanish Education
Schools.
Social networks are taking an extraordinary importance, becoming a new
sociological phenomenon at a global scale. That’s why we chose to include them as
an active methodology for the study of this subject, besides being a motivating
element given the use that students make of them in their daily life
Metabolic and Stress Responses in Senegalese Soles (Solea senegalensis Kaup) Fed Tryptophan Supplements: E ects of Concentration and Feeding Period
The objective of this study was to assess the impact of di erent dietary Trp concentrations on
the stress and metabolism response of juvenile Senegalese soles (Solea senegalensis). Fish (38.1 1.9 g)
were fed di erent Trp-enriched feeds (0%, 1% and 2% Trp added) for two and eight days, and later
exposed to air stress for three min. Samples were taken pre- and 1 h post-stress (condition). Plasma
cortisol, lactate, glucose and proteins were significantly a ected by the sampling time, showing higher
values at 1 h post-stress. Trp concentration in food also had significant e ects on lactate and glucose
levels. However, the feeding period did not a ect these parameters. Post-stress values were higher
than in the pre-stress condition for every plasma parameter, except for lactate in two days and 1% Trp
treatment. Nevertheless, cortisol, glucose and lactate did not vary significantly between pre- and
post-stress samplings in fish fed the 1% Trp-enriched diet for two days. The lack of variability in
cortisol response was also due to the high pre-stress value, significantly superior to pre-stress control.
The exposure time to Trp feeding did not significantly a ect any enzyme activity; however, Trp added
and condition influenced protein-related enzyme activities. In spite of decreasing stress markers,
Trp-enriched diets altered the protein metabolism
2D kinematics of the edge-on spiral galaxy ESO 379-G006
We present a kinematical study of the nearly edge-on galaxy ESO 379-G006 that
shows the existence of extraplanar ionized gas. With Fabry-Perot spectroscopy
at H-alpha, we study the kinematics of ESO 379-G006 using velocity maps and
position-velocity diagrams parallel to the major and to the minor axis of the
galaxy. We build the rotation curve of the disk and discuss the role of
projection effects due to the fact of viewing this galaxy nearly edge-on. The
twisting of the isovelocities in the radial velocity field of the disk of ESO
379-G006 as well as the kinematic asymmetries found in some position-velocity
diagrams parallel to the minor axis of the galaxy suggest the existence of
deviations to circular motions in the disk that can be modeled and explained
with the inclusion of a radial inflow probably generated by a bar or by spiral
arms. We succeeded in detecting extraplanar Diffuse Ionized Gas in this galaxy.
At the same time, from the analysis of position-velocity diagrams, we found
some evidence that the extraplanar gas could lag in rotation velocity with
respect to the midplane rotation.Comment: 61 pages, 15 figures. Accepted for publication in A
Errors in kinematic distances and our image of the Milky Way Galaxy
Errors in the kinematic distances, under the assumption of circular gas
orbits, were estimated by performing synthetic observations of a model disk
galaxy. It was found that the error is < 0.5 kpc for most of the disk when the
measured rotation curve was used, but larger if the real rotation curve is
applied. In both cases, the error is significantly larger at the positions of
the spiral arms. The error structure is such that, when kinematic distances are
used to develope a picture of the large scale density distribution, the most
significant features of the numerical model are significantly distorted or
absent, while spurious structure appears. By considering the full velocity
field in the calculation of the kinematic distances, most of the original
density structures can be recovered.Comment: Accepted for publication in A
Modeling skull-face anatomical/morphological correspondence for craniofacial superimposition-based identification
Craniofacial superimposition (CFS) is a forensic identification technique which studies the anatomical and morphological correspondence between a skull and a face. It involves the process of overlaying a variable number of facial images with the skull. This technique has great potential since nowadays the wide majority of the people have photographs where their faces are clearly visible. In addition, the skull is a bone that hardly degrades under the effect of fire, humidity, temperature changes, etc. Three consecutive stages for the CFS process have been distinguished: the acquisition and processing of the materials; the skull-face overlay; and the decision making. This final stage consists of determining the degree of support for a match based on the previous overlays. The final decision is guided by different criteria depending on the anatomical relations between the skull and the face. In previous approaches, we proposed a framework for automating this stage at different levels taking into consideration all the information and uncertainty sources involved. In this study, we model new anatomical skull-face regions and we tackle the last level of the hierarchical decision support system. For the first time, we present a complete system which provides a final degree of craniofacial correspondence. Furthermore, we validate our system as an automatic identification tool analyzing its capabilities in closed (known information or a potential list of those involved) and open lists (little or no idea at first who may be involved) and comparing its performance with the manual results achieved by experts, obtaining a remarkable performance. The proposed system has been demonstrated to be valid for sortlisting a given data set of initial candidates (in 62,5% of the cases the positive one is ranked in the first position) and to serve as an exclusion method (97,4% and 96% of true negatives in training and test, respectively)
Production of Pectinolytic Enzymes by the Yeast Wickerhanomyces anomalus Isolated from Citrus Fruits Peels
Wickerhamomyces anomalus is pectinolytic yeast isolated from citrus fruits peels in the province of Misiones, Argentine. In the present work, enzymes produced by this yeast strain were characterized, and polygalacturonase physicochemical properties were determined in order to evaluate the application of the supernatant in the maceration of potato tissues. W. anomalus was able to produce PGin liquid mediumcontaining glucose and citrus pectin, whosemode of actionwas mainly of endo type. The supernatant did not exhibit esterase or lyase activity. No others enzymes, capable of hydrolyzing cell wall polymers, such as cellulases and xylanases, were detected. PGshowedmaximal activity atpH4.5 and at temperature range between 40∘Cand50∘C. It was stable in the pH range from3.0 to 6.0 and up to 50∘Cat optimumpH.The enzymatic extractmacerated potato tissues efficiently.Volume of single cells increased with the agitation speed. The results observed make the enzymatic extract produced by W. anomalus appropriate for future application in food industry, mainly for the production of fruit nectars or mashed of vegetables such as potato or cassava, of regional interest in the province of Misiones, Argentine.
This study intended to make an analysis about the profile of competences to assess
qualitatively and quantitatively each of generic abilities that are to be developed in the
course of General Didactics in the first year of Pedagogy Degree, Faculty Science
Education at the University of Seville.
We considered the need to design instruments that help us assess abilities objectively
and accurately. So far the assessment has focused on knowledge that has been valued as
a quality or quantity with different instruments, but we find difficulties to assessment
the development of those abilities which we set in each of our educational projects and
we don’t have tradition and experience
The appearance of primary melanomas of the oral mucosa is
uncommon. The aggressiveness of this entity and the absence
of any standardized treatment protocol make the prognostic unfortunate.
The difficulty to obtain free surgical margins, the elevated
tendency to invade in depth and the early haematogenous
metastasis have been referred as features which may explain its
bad prognosis, even in comparison with cutaneous melanoma.
However, no large clinical series exist and actually, clinical cases
are the main source of information. Due to the absence of
any treatment modality which may substantially increase longterm
survival, we suggest the use of resective surgery with wide
margins and early diagnosis by means of biopsy for suspicious
melanotic-pigmented lesions. In this work we present 2 new
cases of primary melanoma of the oral mucosa, with a follow-up
period of 72 and 12 months respectively, and we make a review
of the literature in relation with this rare entity
To analyse the interrelations among cardiorespiratory fitness, subjective happiness and satisfaction with life in adolescents. Method: The study was based on a total of 388 Spanish adolescents (207 females) aged 12-18. Cardiorespiratory fitness was assessed by means of the 20-metre shuttle run test. Subjective happiness and satisfaction with life were assessed using the Subjective Happiness Scale and Satisfaction with Life Scale respectively. The adolescents' height and weight were measured and their body mass index (BMI) calculated. They were asked to report the educational level of the mother. Results: The linear regression analysis showed that cardiorespiratory fitness was positively associated with subjective happiness (ß non standardized = .09 ± .03, r = .128, p = .013) and satisfaction with life (ß non standardized = .31 ± .13, r = .128, p = .022), regardless of the subjects' sex, BMI, and educational level of the mother. Conclusion: These findings suggest that adolescents with a good level of cardiorespiratory fitness are happier and more satisfied with life. Intervention studies are needed to confirm whether an intervention programme aimed at improving aerobic performance might also lead to improvements in adolescents' level of happiness and satisfaction with life
