CARE1, a TY3-gypsy long terminal repeat retrotransposon in the food legume chickpea (Cicer arietinum L)
We report a novel Ty3-gypsy long terminal repeat retrotransposon CARE1 (_Cicer arietinum_ retro-element 1) in chickpea. This 5920-bp AT-rich (63%) element carries 723-bp 5' and 897-bp 3' LTRs respectively flanking an internal region of 4300-bp. The LTRs of CARE1 show 93.9% nucleotide identity to each other and have 4-bp (ACTA) terminal inverted repeats. A 17-bp potential tRNAmet primer binding site downstream to 5' LTR and a 13-bp polypurine tract upstream to 3' LTR have been identified. The order of domains (Gag-proteinase-reverse transcriptase-RNaseH-integrase) in the deduced amino acid sequence and phylogenetic tree constructed using reverse transcriptase sequences places CARE1 in the gypsy group of retrotransposons. Homologues of a number of _cis_-elements including CCAAT, TATA and GT-1 have been detected in the regulatory region or the 5' LTR of CARE1. Transgenic tobacco plants containing 5' LTR:GUS construct show that its 5'-LTR is inactive in a heterologous system under normal as well as tissue culture conditions. Genomic Southern blot experiments using 5’LTR of the element as a probe show that CARE1 or its related elements are present in the genomes of various chickpea accessions from various geographic regions
bNAber: database of broadly neutralizing HIV antibodies.
The discovery of broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs) has provided an enormous impetus to the HIV vaccine research and to entire immunology. The bNAber database at http://bNAber.org provides open, user-friendly access to detailed data on the rapidly growing list of HIV bNAbs, including neutralization profiles, sequences and three-dimensional structures (when available). It also provides an extensive list of visualization and analysis tools, such as heatmaps to analyse neutralization data as well as structure and sequence viewers to correlate bNAbs properties with structural and sequence features of individual antibodies. The goal of the bNAber database is to enable researchers in this field to easily compare and analyse available information on bNAbs thereby supporting efforts to design an effective vaccine for HIV/AIDS. The bNAber database not only provides easy access to data that currently is scattered in the Supplementary Materials sections of individual papers, but also contributes to the development of general standards of data that have to be presented with the discovery of new bNAbs and a universal mechanism of how such data can be shared
Modulated structure in the martensite phase of Ni1.8Pt0.2MnGa: a neutron diffraction study
7M orthorhombic modulated structure in the martensite phase of Ni1.8Pt0.2MnGa
is reported by powder neutron diffraction study, which indicates that it is
likely to exhibit magnetic field induced strain. The change in the unit cell
volume is less than 0.5% between the austenite and martensite phases, as
expected for a volume conserving martensite transformation. The magnetic
structure analysis shows that the magnetic moment in the martensite phase is
higher compared to Ni2MnGa, which is in good agreement with magnetization
measurement
Generalized Gravi-Electromagnetism
A self consistant and manifestly covariant theory for the dynamics of four
charges (masses) (namely electric, magnetic, gravitational, Heavisidian) has
been developed in simple, compact and consistent manner. Starting with an
invariant Lagrangian density and its quaternionic representation, we have
obtained the consistent field equation for the dynamics of four charges. It has
been shown that the present reformulation reproduces the dynamics of individual
charges (masses) in the absence of other charge (masses) as well as the
generalized theory of dyons (gravito - dyons) in the absence gravito - dyons

Origin of Ferroelectricity in Orthorhombic LuFeO
We demonstrate that small but finite ferroelectric polarization (0.01
C/cm) emerges in orthorhombic LuFeO () at (600
K) because of commensurate (k = 0) and collinear magnetic structure. The
synchrotron x-ray and neutron diffraction data suggest that the polarization
could originate from enhanced bond covalency together with subtle contribution
from lattice. The theoretical calculations indicate enhancement of bond
covalency as well as the possibility of structural transition to the polar
phase below . The phase, in fact, is found to be
energetically favorable below in orthorhombic LuFeO ( with
very small energy difference) than in isostructural and nonferroelectric
LaFeO or NdFeO. Application of electric field induces finite
piezostriction in LuFeO via electrostriction resulting in clear domain
contrast images in piezoresponse force microscopy.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figure
Effect of Oral Administration of Enterococcus faecium Ef1 on Innate Immunity of Sucking Piglets
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of orally administered Enterococcus faecium EF1 on innate immune responses of jejunal mucosa in newborn piglets. Twenty-four commercial crossbred healthy newborn piglets were randomly divided into two groups, control (T0) and treatment (T1) group. Each group consists of 12 piglets. T1 was administered sterilized skim milk 2 ml piglet-1 day-1 with addition of E. faecium EF1 (5~6×108 cfu/ml) by oral gavage on alternative odd days (1st, 3rd and 5th) after birth. T0 fed with the same volume of sterilized skim milk without probiotics. The merciful killing of piglets at the 25th day after birth was performed to collect the samples of jejunal mucosa to measure the innate cytokine responses and the Toll-like receptors gene expression by quantitative real time PCR. The results showed that TGF-β1 and TNF-α concentrations increased and mRNA expression levels also improved significantly in T1 as compared to T0. While, the production of IFN-γ and IL-8 decreased significantly in T1 and gene expression modification was not observed. In addition, TLR (Toll-like receptor) 2 and TLR 9 transcription levels were up-regulated in treatment (T1) group. These findings revealed that oral administration of E. faecium EF1 was effective to activate innate immunity and could modulate the TLRs expression in jejunal mucosa of piglets
Novel ZnO hollow-nanocarriers containing paclitaxel targeting folate-receptors in a malignant pH-microenvironment for effective monitoring and promoting breast tumor regression
Low pH in the tumor micromilieu is a recognized pathological feature of cancer. This attribute of cancerous cells has been targeted herein for the controlled release of chemotherapeutics at the tumour site, while sparing healthy tissues. To this end, pH-sensitive, hollow ZnO-nanocarriers loaded with paclitaxel were synthesized and their efficacy studied in breast cancer in vitro and in vivo. The nanocarriers were surface functionalized with folate using click-chemistry to improve targeted uptake by the malignant cells that over-express folate-receptors. The nanocarriers released ~75% of the paclitaxel payload within six hours in acidic pH, which was accompanied by switching of fluorescence from blue to green and a 10-fold increase in the fluorescence intensity. The fluorescence-switching phenomenon is due to structural collapse of the nanocarriers in the endolysosome. Energy dispersion X-ray mapping and whole animal fluorescent imaging studies were carried out to show that combined pH and folate-receptor targeting reduces off-target accumulation of the nanocarriers. Further, a dual cell-specific and pH-sensitive nanocarrier greatly improved the efficacy of paclitaxel to regress subcutaneous tumors in vivo. These nanocarriers could improve chemotherapy tolerance and increase anti-tumor efficacy, while also providing a novel diagnostic read-out through fluorescent switching that is proportional to drug release in malignant tissues
Comparison of Results of Calibration of Isolation Current Transformer by Conventional Method Two Power Comparator Method
This paper describes the calibration of Isolation Current Transformer by two methods, by conventional method and by two comparator based calibration method. A conventional method has limitations that we get fixed ratios and hence can go up to lower value of 1A. The uncertainties of the calibration system are in the order of 0.005 % for the ratio error and 0.01 crad for the phase displacement of the current transformer at 50 Hz. The power comparator based measurements can be done at test currents from 10 mA to 160A
Full potential LAPW calculation of electron momentum density and related properties of Li
Electron momentum density and Compton profiles in Lithium along , and directions are calculated using Full-Potential Linear
Augmented Plane Wave basis within generalized gradient approximation. The
profiles have been corrected for correlations with Lam-Platzman formulation
using self-consistent charge density. The first and second derivatives of
Compton profiles are studied to investigate the Fermi surface breaks. Decent
agreement is observed between recent experimental and our calculated values.
Our values for the derivatives are found to be in better agreement with
experiments than earlier theoretical results. Two-photon momentum density and
one- and two-dimensional angular correlation of positron annihilation radiation
are also calculated within the same formalism and including the
