Spatial isomorphisms of algebras of truncated Toeplitz operators
We examine when two maximal abelian algebras in the truncated Toeplitz
operators are spatially isomorphic. This builds upon recent work of N. Sedlock,
who obtained a complete description of the maximal algebras of truncated
Toeplitz operators.Comment: 24 page
Exciton Dissociation Dynamics in Model Donor-Acceptor Polymer Heterojunctions: I. Energetics and Spectra
In this paper we consider the essential electronic excited states in parallel
chains of semiconducting polymers that are currently being explored for
photovoltaic and light-emitting diode applications. In particular, we focus
upon various type II donor-acceptor heterojunctions and explore the relation
between the exciton binding energy to the band off-set in determining the
device characteristic of a particular type II heterojunction material. As a
general rule, when the exciton binding energy is greater than the band off-set
at the heterojunction, the exciton will remain the lowest energy excited state
and the junction will make an efficient light-emitting diode. On the other
hand, if the off-set is greater than the exciton binding energy, either the
electron or hole can be transferred from one chain to the other. Here we use a
two-band exciton to predict the vibronic absorption and emission spectra of
model polymer heterojunctions. Our results underscore the role of vibrational
relaxation and suggest that intersystem crossings may play some part in the
formation of charge-transfer states following photoexcitation in certain cases
Analisa Dampak Pembangunan Rumah Sakit Siloam Manado Terhadap Kinerja Lalu Lintas Ruas Jalan Sam Ratulangi Dan Piere Tendean Manado
On the stability analysis of periodic sine-Gordon traveling waves
We study the spectral stability properties of periodic traveling waves in the
sine-Gordon equation, including waves of both subluminal and superluminal
propagation velocities as well as waves of both librational and rotational
types. We prove that only subluminal rotational waves are spectrally stable and
establish exponential instability in the other three cases. Our proof corrects
a frequently cited one given by Scott.Comment: 22 pages, 6 figure
Size-dependent recombination dynamics in ZnO nanowires

Lett. 96, 053105 (2010) and may be found at https://doi.org/10.1063/1.3294327.A deep understanding of the recombination dynamics of ZnO nanowires (NWs) is a natural step for a precise design of on-demand nanostructures based on this material system. In this work we investigate the influence of finite-size on the recombination dynamics of the neutral bound exciton around 3.365 eV for ZnO NWs with different diameters. We demonstrate that the lifetime of this excitonic transition decreases with increasing the surface-to-volume ratio due to a surface induced recombination process. Furthermore, we have observed two broad transitions around 3.341 and 3.314 eV, which were identified as surface states by studying the dependence of their life time and intensitiy with the NWs dimensions.DFG, 43659573, SFB 787: Halbleiter - Nanophotonik: Materialien, Modelle, Bauelement
Thawing models in the presence of a generalized Chaplygin gas
In this paper we consider a cosmological model whose main components are a
scalar field and a generalized Chaplygin gas. We obtain an exact solution for a
flat arbitrary potential. This solution have the right dust limit when the
Chaplygin parameter . We use the dynamical systems approach in
order to describe the cosmological evolution of the mixture for an exponential
self-interacting scalar field potential. We study the scalar field with an
arbitrary self-interacting potential using the "Method of -devisers." Our
results are illustrated for the special case of a coshlike potential. We find
that usual scalar-field-dominated and scaling solutions cannot be late-time
attractors in the presence of the Chaplygin gas (with ). We recover
the standard results at the dust limit (). In particular, for
the exponential potential, the late-time attractor is a pure generalized
Chaplygin solution mimicking an effective cosmological constant. In the case of
arbitrary potentials, the late-time attractors are de Sitter solutions in the
form of a cosmological constant, a pure generalized Chaplygin solution or a
continuum of solutions, when the scalar field and the Chaplygin gas densities
are of the same orders of magnitude. The different situations depend on the
parameter choices.Comment: revtex4, 17 pages, 18 figures, discussion about fixed points 'at

Detection of enteric parasite DNA in household and bed dust samples: potential for infection transmission.
BACKGROUND: Enteric parasites are transmitted in households but few studies have sampled inside households for parasites and none have used sensitive molecular methods. METHODS: We collected bed and living room dust samples from households of children participating in a clinical trial of anthelmintic treatment in rural coastal Ecuador. Dust was examined for presence of DNA specific for 11 enteric parasites (Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus, Strongyloides stercoralis, Toxocara canis and T. cati, Giardia lamblia, Blastocystis hominis, Cryptosporidium spp., and Entamoeba histolytica) by quantitative PCR (qPCR). RESULTS: Of the 38 households sampled, 37 had positive dust for at least one parasite and up to 8 parasites were detected in single samples. Positivity was greatest for B. hominis (79% of household samples) indicating a high level of environmental fecal contamination. Dust positivity rates for individual pathogens were: S. stercoralis (52%), A. lumbricoides (39%), G. lamblia (39%), Toxocara spp. (42%), hookworm (18%) and T. trichiura (8%). DNA for Cryptosporidium spp. and E. histolytica was not detected. Bed dust was more frequently positive than floor samples for all parasites detected. Positivity for A. lumbricoides DNA in bed (adjusted OR: 10.0, 95% CI: 2.0-50.1) but not floor dust (adjusted OR: 3.6, 95% CI: 0.3-37.9) was significantly associated with active infections in children. CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first use of qPCR on environmental samples to detect a wide range of enteric pathogen DNA. Our results indicate widespread contamination of households with parasite DNA and raise the possibility that beds, under conditions of overcrowding in a humid tropical setting, may be a source of transmission
-algebras generated by truncated Toeplitz operators
We obtain an analogue of Coburn's description of the Toeplitz algebra in the
setting of truncated Toeplitz operators. As a byproduct, we provide several
examples of complex symmetric operators which are not unitarily equivalent to
truncated Toeplitz operators having continuous symbols.Comment: 12 page
