ARTYCUL: A Privacy-Preserving ML-Driven Framework to Determine the Popularity of a Cultural Exhibit on Display.

We present ARTYCUL (ARTifact popularitY for CULtural heritage), a machine learning(ML)-based framework that graphically represents the footfall around an artifact on display at a museum or a heritage site. The driving factor of this framework was the fact that the presence of security cameras has become universal, including at sites of cultural heritage. ARTYCUL used the video streams of closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) cameras installed in such premises to detect human figures, and their coordinates with respect to the camera frames were used to visualize the density of visitors around the specific display items. Such a framework that can display the popularity of artifacts would aid the curators towards a more optimal organization. Moreover, it could also help to gauge if a certain display item were neglected due to incorrect placement. While items of similar interest can be placed in vicinity of each other, an online recommendation system may also use the reputation of an artifact to catch the eye of the visitors. Artificial intelligence-based solutions are well suited for analysis of internet of things (IoT) traffic due to the inherent veracity and volatile nature of the transmissions. The work done for the development of ARTYCUL provided a deeper insight into the avenues for applications of IoT technology to the cultural heritage domain, and suitability of ML to process real-time data at a fast pace. While we also observed common issues that hinder the utilization of IoT in the cultural domain, the proposed framework was designed keeping in mind the same obstacles and a preference for backward compatibility

TECHNIQUES TO INDICATE LATENCY OF PACKETS IN NETWORK NODES

    Get PDF
Applications operating via network communications have long evolved from the use of basic data, as audio and video applications continue to evolve in terms of latency requirements and, as such, the number of differentiated flows (per application) continues to evolve as well. With applications evolving that are utilize low latency packet paths from network, it can be challenging to determine the latency of packets in a network that are associated with latency sensitive applications. This proposal provides techniques through which a new header can be embedded into packets in which the new header can be used to indicate the total-residence-time of a packet in various nodes in a network. The header can be embedded in each packet that is communicated from an origin to an end-node of a network and can indicate how much time the packet has spent in network. The header can be updated on every node by the value of the time the packet spent in each node in the network (i.e., residence time of the packet in a network node)

Extrahepatic undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma, cytology as an accurate method for early diagnosis: an extremely rare case report in an Indian child

    Get PDF
Undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma has been described in the liver, a rare malignant mesenchymal neoplasm, that occurs primarily in children and teenagers. Approximately 260 cases have been reported arising in the liver since 1978 when this disease was first described. Its pathogenesis is still obscure. Authors presented a case of extrahepatic undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma in a 9-year-old female presenting with upper abdominal dull pain. Ultrasound and CT Scan showed normal liver architecture, with liver pushed upwards due to compression by tumor arising in the retroperitoneum. To the best of our knowledge, this is first case of extrahepatic undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma diagnosed on cytomorphology and confirmed by histopathology and immunohistochemistry markers

Oligomerization of the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) Vpu protein – a genetic, biochemical and biophysical analysis

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The human immunodeficiency virus type 1(HIV-1) is a complex retrovirus and the causative agent of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The HIV-1 Vpu protein is an oligomeric integral membrane protein essential for particle release, viral load and CD4 degradation. <it>In silico </it>models show Vpu to form pentamers with an ion channel activity.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Using Vpu proteins from a primary subtype C and the pNL4-3 subtype B isolates of HIV-1, we show oligomerization of the full-length protein as well as its transmembrane (TM) domain by genetic, biochemical and biophysical methods. We also provide direct evidence of the presence of Vpu pentamers in a stable equilibrium with its monomers <it>in vitro</it>. This was also true for the TM domain of Vpu. Confocal microscopy localized Vpu to the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi regions of the cell, as well as to post-Golgi vesicles. In fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) experiments in live cells we show that Vpu oligomerizes in what appears to be either the Golgi region or intracellular vesicles, but not in the ER.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>We provide here direct evidence that the TM domain, is critical for Vpu oligomerization and the most favourable channel assembly is a pentamer. The Vpu oligomerization appears to be either the Golgi region or intracellular vesicles, but not in the ER.</p

Pathogenic and morphological variability among 4 isolates of anthracnose of chilli (Colletotrichum capsici) from four states-Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh were studied. Pathogenic variability was studied in micro plots grown 5 different cultivars. Among the isolates, the maximum colony diameter after 7 days was (88 mm) in UDR Cc-01, it produced maximum number of spore (21.0 x 10 4 conidia/mm 2 medium). The maximum size of conidia was the isolate GUJ Cc-03 which measured 22.6 (20.3–24.8) x 3.7 (3.3–4.1) μm, maximum size of setae was the isolate BAN Cc-02 which measured 110.3 (98.1-123.5) × 4.8 (4.2-5.3) and maximum size of accervulus was the isolate UDR Cc-01 which measured 200.8 (178.7-224.8) μm in vitro study. In field, the evaluation was done to find out the resistant chilli cultivar and pathogenic potential of different isolates. Isolate UDR Cc-01 caused shortest latent period (48 hrs) in Pusa jwala and longest latent period of 80 hrs in Sadabahar. UDR Cc-01 was the most virulent, as it caused susceptible (S) reaction (disease score 5.5 and PDI 61.2) on Pusa jwala cultivar and moderate susceptible (MS) reaction with score 4.5 and PDI 50.2 in California wonder and disease score 3.7 with 41.3 PDI in Yellow type

GSTM1 null polymorphism – a possible key for oral carcinogenesis

    Get PDF
Carcinogenesis is a multistep process and individual risk to development of cancer depends not only on environmental factors or extrinsic exposure to carcinogens but also on genetic susceptibility of an individual. In head and neck cancer, tobacco exposure and alcohol consumption are predominantly the most significant external factors for tumor formation. Individual’s susceptibility to cancer may be partly explained by variability in enzymatic activities of metabolic genes. Mutations in genes concerned with production of enzymes for metabolism of tobacco products may lead to increased risk of carcinogenesis with respect to oral mucosa. Therefore variations in the expression of these genes due to heritable genetic polymorphisms might modulate the process of carcinogenesis by altering the exposure levels of tobacco derived carcinogens. Objective: This non systematic review summarizes current data available on the role of environment gene interaction in form of GSTM1 null polymorphism and oral carcinogenesis. Literature review: Relevant data was selected in order to summarize the studies conducted on GSTM1 null polymorphism and oral cancer. Conclusion: Relationship between GSTM1 null polymorphism in oral cancer needs to be established to confirm the role of environment gene interaction in oral carcinogenesis

TECHNIQUES TO PROVIDE AUDIT SECURITY STEERING POLICY ENFORCEMENT

    Get PDF
Dynamic and selective steering of traffic through a security device can create a certain level of interdependence between the security operations (SecOps) and network operations (NetOps) that traditionally operate as independent teams. For example, any deviation in the strict enforcement of the true traffic steering intent advised/authored by a SecOps team and configured by a NetOps teams on network devices can result in compliance issues and possibly security breaches. This submission proposes novel techniques that allow a SecOps team to independently audit and validate steering enforcement actions configured and managed by a NetOps team in order to ensure compliance with the original traffic steering intent/policies as provided by the SecOps team
