The uncertain problem of Industrial project selection is the topic of discussion in this article. As the unrealistic assumption of certainty is relaxed in this problem, the decision maker is faced with a two-criterion decision model in which justifying between Risk and Return are the main concerns. The concept of Risk has been revised and the “Semi-Deviation” measure has been proposed to represent the risk of a project. Based on the new Mean-Semi-deviation Behavior, and according to Utility and Modern Portfolio theories, a more efficient method of project evaluation will be presented

Aim: We have collected the most complete multi-wavelength (6.06.0×1018cm6.0 - 6.0 \times 10^{-18} cm) dataset of very high energy (VHE) γ\gamma-ray emitting (TeV) BL Lacs, which are the most numerous extragalactic VHE sources. Using significant correlations between different bands, we aim to identify the best TeV BL Lac candidates that can be discovered by the current and next generation of imaging air Cherenkov telescopes. Methods: We formed five datasets from lower energy data, i.e. radio, mid-infrared, optical, X-rays, and GeV γ\gamma-ray, and five VHE γ\gamma-ray datasets to perform a correlation study between different bands and to construct the prediction method. The low energy datasets were averaged for individual sources, while the VHE γ\gamma-ray data were divided into subsets according to the flux state of the source. We then looked for significant correlations and determined their best-fit parameters. Using the best-fit parameters we predicted the level of VHE γ\gamma-ray flux for a sample of 182 BL Lacs, which have not been detected at TeV energies. We identified the most promising TeV BL Lac candidates based on the predicted VHE γ\gamma-ray flux for each source. Results: We found 14 significant correlations between radio, mid-infrared, optical, γ\gamma-ray, and VHE γ\gamma-ray bands. The correlation between optical and VHE γ\gamma-ray luminosity is established for the first time. We attribute this to the more complete sample and more accurate handling of host galaxy flux in our work. We found nine BL Lac candidates whose predicted VHE γ\gamma-ray flux is high enough for detection in less than 25 hours with current imaging air Cherenkov telescopes.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, 4 Table

    Quasi-periodicities of BL Lac Objects

We review the reports of possible year-long quasi-periodicities of BL Lac objects in the γ\gamma-ray and optical bands, and present a homogeneous time analysis of the light curves of PKS2155-304, PG1553+113, and BL Lac. Based on results from a survey covering the entire Fermi γ\gamma-ray sky we have estimated the fraction of possible quasi-periodic BL Lac objects. We compared the cyclical behaviour in BL Lac objects with that derived from the search of possible optical periodicities in quasars, and find that at z\lesssim1 the cosmic density of quasi-periodic BL Lac objects is larger than that of quasi-periodic quasars. If the BL Lac quasi-periodicities were due to a supermassive binary black hole (SBBH) scenario, there could be a tension with the upper limits on the gravitational wave background measured by the pulsar timing array. The argument clearly indicates the difficulties of generally associating quasi-periodicities of BL Lac objects with SBBHs.Comment: In publication on A&A, 6 pages, 4 figure (11 plots). Background and aims: Studies have shown that regular physical activity (exercising) has a critical role in improving physical and mental health of people in all age groups and reduces the dangers caused by non-communicable disease such as high blood pressure, overweight, severe obesity, and increased lipoprotein serum. In this survey, the aim of the study was to study the state of physical activity among middle-aged women and its barriers, constraints and its related factors such as job and BMI because of the effective role, which women play in providing health and hygiene for their families and the society. Methods: The current study was a cross sectional research in which 220 middle-aged women (age range of 30-59) selected using convenience sampling, which visited the Health Clinic in Zarin Shahr. The data were gathered using two standard questionnaires designed by the Office of Middle Aged Health in the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. The gathered data were analyzed using SPSS and significant P- value was considered P<0.05. Results: The findings show that 57.2% of the elderly women had physical activity and 42.8 had no physical activity. There is a significant statistical relationship between job and physical activity. The level of physical activity among the employed women was less than those who are homemakers, P=0.015. There was no significant statistical relationship between BMI and physical activity P=0.769 and there was not much of a difference in terms of BMI between those who have and do not have physical activity (P>0.05). Conclusion: Not having enough time, taking care of a child who is under 2 years of age, lack of motivation, and not awareness about the positive effects of physical activity on physical and mental wellbeing are the main reasons for not having suitable physical activity. Therefore, it is suggested that appropriate programs for improving women’s health, improving knowledge, attitude, and change of behavior among these people should be performed

The aim of this study was to compare activity patterns and leisure time between matched groups of patients with cardiovascular disease and individuals without a heart disease. The study included 100 patients recruited from those referred to cardiology department of 5th Azar General Hospital of Golestan University of Medical Sciences in Gorgan (South East of Caspian Sea) and 100 matched control subjects during the period 2007-2008. Odds ratios (OR), together with 95% confidence intervals (95% CI), were calculated using logistic regression, as estimates of relative risks. Listening to music OR = 8.800 (95% CI: 2.717-28.499, p<0.05), meditation OR = 6.111 (95% CI; 2.616-14.274, p<0.05) were independent risk factors. Subjects who performed 2 h per week and 2-4 h per week physical activity, the odds ratios were 0.038 ( 95% CI: 0.012-0.124, p<0.05) and 0.079, (95% CI: 0.024-0.260, p<0.05), respectively. Low physical activity and use of long time relaxation are associated with cardiovascular disease in these patients. Regular participation in physical activity such as walking 2 h per week and 2-4 h per week, are associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. This study suggests the importance of both leisure-time physical activity and sedentary behaviors in the prevention of CVD. © 2009 Asian Network for Scientific Information
