    Immigrants and body modifications in the consumer society

    This article presents the results of the research project “Identity process, immigration and plastic surgeries”. The investigation took place from 2013 to 2014 in Portugal and Spain. The general objective was to search for clues to think more consistently of the interest and the practice of body modifications in the context of immigration. Indepth interviews were carried out with Latin American, Asian and African immigrants. To analyze the interviews, we used the literature about consumer society, social production of body and ethnic plastic surgeries. We propose in this article that immigrants are included in the context of consumer society and the fact that most immigrants live in precarious conditions but this is not an obstacle to think and to practice body modifications makes the issue even more interesting. This does not mean that in the consumer society there are not social and economic inequalities.     São cada vez mais os utentes e os profissionais, muito em particular, os que vivem e trabalham em contextos multiculturais, confrontados com outras culturas e com migrantes ou minorias étnico-culturais, que se queixam de dificuldades provenientes de problemas de comunicação. As problemáticas da diversidade cultural e da interculturalidade implicam um novo reposicionamento metodológico e epistemológico ao nível da pesquisa e da intervenção, nomeadamente, no domínio da saúde, vindo colocar novos desafios às estratégias e às políticas do século XXI, no que diz respeito à gestão da comunicação, em particular da comunicação intercultural e da comunicação em saúde, das identidades e dos conflitos, bem como, à gestão das interacções entre o eu e o outro, entre o universal e o singular.     O processo migratório poderá favorecer o desenvolvimento, o bem-estar, a saúde e novas oportunidades identitárias, sociais e económicas como, igualmente, provocar a inadaptação, o disfuncionamento, o sofrimento e a doença. São particularmente as mães e as crianças, sobretudo nos primeiros anos de vida as mais vulneráveis às rupturas e às transformações resultantes do processo migratório. O texto analisa algumas das principais problemáticas familiares, de género e de saúde que se colocam às mulheres e mães migrantes, alguns dos desafios colocados pela migração ao nível das identidades, das relações familiares e das práticas de maternidade e sanitárias, assim como, algumas das estratégias e políticas tendo em vista o bem-estar, os direitos, a saúde e o desenvolvimento das mães, crianças e famílias migrantes.The migratory process should be able to favor the development, the wellbeing, the health and new social, economic and identitaryopportunities, as well as, to provoke unsuitableness, lack of development, suffering and illness.Particularly the mothers and the children, mostly in their first years of life are more vulnerable to the ruptures and the results of changes due to the migratory process.The text analyzes some of the main familiar problems such as gender and health faced by the women and migrant mothers and some of the challenges posed by the migration to the level of the identities, the familiar relations, maternity and sanitarian practices as well as, some of political strategies aimed at focusing the wellbeing, theirrights, the health and the development of the mothers, the children and the migrantfamily

    Social representations of feeding people with type-2 diabetes mellitus

    The aim of this study was to analyze the social representations of the diets 34 patients of the Brazilian public primary care service diagnosed with type- 2 diabetes mellitus, according to how they represent their identity. Free association of words was used with responses to questions to survey social representations of food. Representations of identity were adopted from a previous study with the same participants. Normal participants eat healthily, eat little, eat greens and vegetables, avoid sweets, have positive attitudes, and maintain healthy eating habits and regular blood glucose levels. Participants who accept having the disease do not eat a lot, do not eat everything, avoid sweets, have an attitude of acceptance, and maintain inadequate eating habits and uncontrolled blood glucose. Participants with difficulties do not eat everything, do not eat a lot, do not follow the diet and eat vegetables and fruits, and have negative attitudes and altered blood glucose.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Destaca a importância das TIC, da literacia digital e da pedagogia online na educação atual, marcada por crescente internacionalização, transnacionalidade, diversidade cultural e interculturalidade. Acentua ainda a importância da promoção da formação neste âmbito e do desenvolvimento de competências pessoais, pedagógicas, tecnológicas, comunicacionais e interculturais nos processos de ensino e aprendizagem, na produção do conhecimento e na formação docente num mundo aberto e interdependente, caraterizado por rápidas mudanças sociais, culturais e tecnológicas.This article analyzes and discusses the main contributions and challenges posed by the use of digital information and communication technologies in the field of teacher training and distance education in global contemporary society -, increasingly characterized as multicultural, technological and networked based. Thus, it highlights the importance of ICT, digital literacy and online pedagogy in education today, marked by increasing globalization, cultural diversity and interculturality.
