    Stratospheric pollutant transports by planetary waves and tropical circulations

    Radiosonde and U-2 aircraft data from the Intertropical Convergence Zone experiment of July, 1977 were analyzed. The radiosonde data above 15 km was plotted in the form of time-height sections so that wave motions in the meteorological variables (temperature, zonal wind, and meridional wind) could be easily delineated. The results showed the presence of a planetary 16 day Kelvin wave. More significantly, large amplitude gravity waves with vertical wavelengths on the order of 3-6 km were found. Spectral analysis of frequencies showed peaks in meridional wind variance at 2-3 days and 5 days, with the shorter periods stronger at higher altitudes. In the time domain, two instances of organized wave groups propagating upward into the stratosphere were isolated. Associated with one of these wave groups was a region of very large vertical shear in which either turbulence or small scale (10 km wavelength or less) gravity wave activity had been found by the U-2 aircraft

La proposición de consumo del sentido expresado por la cultura global en sus locales comerciales muestra la dimensión socio-cultural de la marca McDonald's. Las estrategias de la marca son analizadas a través de la dimensión estética de su territorio, dentro de los sistemas de consumo en los locales comerciales.The study of global brands comes within the field of communication in the action of these players, as message senders increasingly present in contemporary society. The texts and images of these brands are the scene of major cities around the world, talking to our daily lives. Brands´communication flows in their stores are a privileged consumption space, as constructed in its environment, where strategies in his speech are developed. To discuss this subject, the object of study are communication processes of McDonald's brand in its stores around the world, analyzed as organized speeches from its own spatiality. The consumer proposition of meaning expressed by the global culture in their stores shows the socio-cultural dimension of the McDonald's brand. Therefore, brand strategies are analyzed by the aesthetic dimension of their territory within systems of consumption. The methodology used to analyze the privileged consumption space of McDonald's is the discourse analysis of the French line, applied under the categories of spaciality

    Feuerwehrleute, seien es die der kommunalen Berufsfeuerwehren oder die der Werkfeuerwehren großer Industrieunternehmen, sind zweifellos besonderen körperlichen und psychischen Belastungen ausgesetzt. Durch die hohen Anforderungen ihres Berufesstellt sich für diese Beschäftigtengruppe viel eher und deutlicher die Frage nach Alter und Bedingungen eines Ausstiegs aus dem aktiven Dienst. Die Heraufsetzung des gesetzlichen Renteneintrittsalters hat diese Debatte deutlich verschärft. Bot in den vergangenen Jahren die Altersteilzeit vielen Feuerwehrleuten einen akzeptablen Weg, vor dem Erreichen des gesetzlichen Renteneintrittsalters mit sozial verträglichen Bedingungen aus dem Feuerwehrdienst auszuscheiden, ist diese Möglichkeit nun verbaut, denn der Gesetzgeber hat die Förderung der Altersteilzeit durch die Bundesagentur für Arbeit ersatzlos gestrichen. Es gilt daher, auf gesetzlicher und/oder tarifvertraglicher Ebene neue Wege zu finden, die gesundheitlich beeinträchtigten Feuerwehrleuten einen vorzeitigen Ausstieg aus dem Erwerbsleben ermöglichen. In einem ersten Schritt hat die Hans-Böckler-Stiftung auf Initiative der IG BCE dazu eine rechtsvergleichende Studie in Auftrag gegeben. Ziel war es, die heutige Rechtslage und die von Bundesland zu Bundesland differierenden Möglichkeiten der kommunalen Berufsfeuerwehrleute, aus ihrem Dienst auszuscheiden, darzustellen und mit den Möglichkeiten der Werkfeuerwehrleute zu vergleichen. Der Rechtsvergleich beschreibt die Lücken, in denen Feuerwehrleute unzureichend gegen ihre Berufsrisiken gesichert sind. Er zeigt zugleich Möglichkeiten eines vorzeitigen Renteneintritts auf, und gibt Anregungen, die Übertragbarkeit der vorhandenen Lösungen zu diskutieren. Damitbietet diese Studie eine gute Grundlage für die Diskussion in den Gewerkschaften, mit den Arbeitgeberverbänden und der Politik

    The product quality requirements of modern outdoor vegetable cultivation are becoming more stringent and increasing importance is also attached to a defined guarantee of yield. These demands may be satisfied by using protective netting. The working methods employed in practice and the process technology hardly differ. The differences between individual variants - 1 to 7% per net – are therefore relatively low, as is the size degression. An average of 1.3 manpower-minutes per m are required for the complete process. The time requirement per net is about 26.7 min., 13 min. of which are needed for placement and 11.1 min. for removal. The difference is made up by transportation to and from the field and loading the nets. Covering the crop takes up 48 % or almost half the total working time requirement. Removing the nets accounts for 42 %. 10 % is used in driving to and from the field for placement and in loading the rolls or bales of netting before placement and after removal. There is no additional transportation time, as the nets are carried as part of the relevant transport to and from the field. Removal involves no extra journey times if the netting is removed from the crop immediately prior to harvesting, the journey to and from the field then being calculated as part of the working time requirement for harvesting
