Design of bent photonic crystal fiber supporting a single polarization
In this work, it is shown that the differential loss between the TE- and TM-polarized fundamental modes in a highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber (PCF) can be enhanced by bending the fiber. As a result, a design approach for single-mode single-polarization operation has been developed and is discussed. A rigorous full-vectorial H-field-based finite element approach, which includes the conformal transformation and the perfectly matched layer, is used to determine the single-polarization properties of such a highly birefringent PCF by exploiting its differential bending losses

Diaspora Connections: Engaging with Diaspora Organisations at Multiple Geo-political Levels
Through surveys and case studies of a sample of UK based Diaspora organisations, this research found the following: The majority of Diaspora organisations surveyed were involved in advocacy work, mostly at the international, followed by the national then local levels, and to a comparatively lesser extent the regional and UK regional levels. Overlapping stakeholders included the United Nations at the international level, as well as the respective government of the country of heritage. At the regional level, examples include work with European, Asian and African regional bodies, demonstrating the range and breadth of existing advocacy work among even the relatively small sample of Diaspora organisations that responded to the initial mapping survey
Standard map-like models for single and multiple walkers in an annular cavity
Recent experiments on walking droplets in an annular cavity showed the
existence of complex dynamics including chaotically changing velocity. This
article presents models, influenced by the kicked rotator/standard map, for
both single and multiple droplets. The models are shown to achieve both
qualitative and quantitative agreement with the experiments, and makes
predictions about heretofore unobserved behavior. Using dynamical systems
techniques and bifurcation theory, the single droplet model is analyzed to
prove dynamics suggested by the numerical simulations.Comment: 22 pages, 22 figure

PENGADAAN TANAH BAGI KEPENTINGAN UMUM DAN PEMBERIAN GANTI RUGI DALAM MASA TRANSISI SEBELUM PELAKSANAAN UNDANG-UNDANG NOMOR 2 TAHUN 2012 TENTANG PENGADAAN TANAH BAGI PEMBANGUNAN UNTUK KEPENTINGAN UMUM (Studi Pengadaan Tanah Untuk Pembangunan Double Track Kereta Api Antara Semarang Tawang Bojonegoro di Wilayah Provinsi Jawa Tengah)
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendapatkan gambaran pelaksanaan pengadaan
tanah untuk pembangunan double track Kereta Api Semarang Tawang-
Bojonegoro di Jawa Tengah yang dilaksanakan dalam masa transisi sebelum
pelaksanaan regulasi pengadaan tanah yang baru yaitu UU Nomor 2 Tahun 2012
tentang pengadaan tanah bagi pembangunan untuk kepentingan umum dan
Peraturan Presiden Nomor 71 Tahun 2012 sebagai pelaksanannya. Berdasarkan
ketentuan Pasal 123 Perpres, maka pengadaan tanah untuk pembangunan double
track ini masih dapat menggunakan regulasi pengadaan tanah yang lama (Perpes
Nomor 36 Tahun 2005 jo Perpres Nomor 65 Tahun 2006) hingga 31 Desember
2014. Selain itu, penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui perbedaan
pengadaan tanah antara regulasi pengadaan tanah lama dan regulasi baru.
Metode pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penyusunan tesis ini adalah
pendekatan yuridis empiris dan spesifikasi penelitian adalah deskriptif analitis
serta pengumpulan data melalui data primer dan data sekunder untuk selanjutnya
dilakukan analisis.
Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan penelitian, terdapat perbedaan pengaturan
pengadaan tanah antara regulasi pengadaan tanah lama dan regulasi baru meliputi
kepentingan umum, ganti kerugian dan proses pengadaan tanah. Dalam
pelaksanaan pengadaan tanah untuk double track menemui hambatan. Hambatan
hukum disebabkan karena ketentuan peralihan Pasal 58 UU Nomor 2 Tahun 2012
yang multitafsir, sedangkan Pepres pelaksanannya baru terbit Agustus 2012,
sehingga terjadi kebingungan penggunaan dasar hukum oleh pelaksana pengadaan
tanah. Sedangkan faktor non hukum adalah lemahnya koordinasi antara instansi
yang memerlukan tanah, Panitia Pengadaan Tanah Provinsi dan Panitia
Pengadaan Tanah Kabupaten/Kota. Selain itu pelaksanaan pengadaan tanah untuk
double track harus dikebut agar tidak melebihi limit waktu 31 Desember 2014,
karena akan menimbulkan konsekuensi tersendiri yaitu penggunaan regulasi baru
apabila terdapat sisa tanah yang belum selesai proses pengadaan tanahnya hingga
31 Desember 2014.
Oleh karena itu, kiranya perlu percepatan pelaksanaan pengadaan tanah untuk
double track kereta api, agar tidak melebihi jangka wakktu 31 Desember 2014.
Selain itu perlu uji materiil terhadap regulasi baru pengadaan tanah khususnya
berkaitan dengan musyawarah ganti rugi yang hanya membahas mengenai bentuk
ganti rugi dan tidak termasuk besaran ganti rugi untuk lebih menjamin
perlindungan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat yang hak atas tanahnya terkena
pembangunan
The Uniqueness of Hypergravity
We show that consistent interactions of a spin-2 and a higher-spin Majorana
fermion gauge fields in 3D flat space lead uniquely to Aragone-Deser
hypergravity or its generalization. Our analysis employs the BRST-cohomological
techniques, and works in the metric-like formulation under the assumptions of
locality, parity and Poincar\'e invariance. Local hypersymmetry shows up as the
unique consistent deformation of the gauge transformations. An extension of the
theory with fermion flavors does not change these features, while a
cosmological deformation becomes obstructed in the absence of other degrees of

PERENCANAAN LAPIS TAMBAHAN (OVERLAY) PERKERASAN LENTUR DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE BINA MARGA 2017 DAN ANALISA KOMPONEN 1987 PADA RUAS JALAN MENDUT STA 0+000 – TANJUNG JAPUAN STA 2+225 KABUPATEN MAGELANG
Roads are a means of transportation that facilitates all aspects of activities. Roads have a function as a link between regions and support economic activities in a region. The Mendut - Tanjung Japuan road section is a tourism and alternative road section. The length of the Mendut – Tanjung Japuan road is 2.225 km and the width is 6.20 m. For flexible road pavement, it is necessary to analyze it in terms of costs. The method used for flexible road pavement is Bina Marga 2017 and Component Analysis 1987, as well as calculating the Budget Plan (RAB). To calculate pavement planning, data is needed in the form of CBR data, average daily traffic data (LHR), and unit price of work. From the calculation results, it was found that the thickness of the flexible pavement using the Bina Marga method was 5.5 cm and the 1987 Component Analysis method was 7 cm. Meanwhile, the calculation results show that the thickness of the flexible pavement with the surface layer using Laston 590 is 5.5 cm, the top foundation layer uses Class A crushed stone aggregate with a thickness of 20 cm, and the bottom foundation layer uses Class A Sirtu with a thickness of 17 cm and the RAB is Rp. 4.874.000.00
