The Performance of the Robo-AO Laser Guide Star Adaptive Optics System at the Kitt Peak 2.1-m Telescope

    Get PDF
Robo-AO is an autonomous laser guide star adaptive optics system recently commissioned at the Kitt Peak 2.1-m telescope. Now operating every clear night, Robo-AO at the 2.1-m telescope is the first dedicated adaptive optics observatory. This paper presents the imaging performance of the adaptive optics system in its first eighteen months of operations. For a median seeing value of 1.311.31^{\prime\prime}, the average Strehl ratio is 4\% in the ii^\prime band and 29\% in the J band. After post-processing, the contrast ratio under sub-arcsecond seeing for a 2i162\leq i^{\prime} \leq 16 primary star is five and seven magnitudes at radial offsets of 0.50.5^{\prime\prime} and 1.01.0^{\prime\prime}, respectively. The data processing and archiving pipelines run automatically at the end of each night. The first stage of the processing pipeline shifts and adds the data using techniques alternately optimized for stars with high and low SNRs. The second "high contrast" stage of the pipeline is eponymously well suited to finding faint stellar companions.Comment: 12 pages, 16 figures, to be submitted to PAS

A field experiment was conducted in the College Farm, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad to study the persistence in soils and residual effects of atrazine in sweet corn during rainy season (Kharif) 2012 and 2013. Atrazine was applied as pre-emergence and post-emergence spray at two levels (1.0 and 2.0 kg/ha) and persistence was studied in soils (0, 10, 30, 45, 60 days after application, DAA, and harvest), maize grain/stover at harvest. Atrazine residue were determined using GC-NPD. In pre-emergence treatments, atrazine residues persisted in the soil upto 60 DAA at 1.0 and 2.0 kg/ha dose of application during both years. Atrazine residues concentration in the soil was lower in post-emergence treatments and residues persisted upto 45 DAA during two years at 1.0 kg and 2.0 kg/ ha application rates. Residues of atrazine in sweet corn grain and stover were below the detection during two years at two rates of application. Atrazine persistence insoil followed first order kinetics with half-life varying from 26.45 days to 35.77 days. Atrazine can be safely applied to sweet corn as the grain and stover residues were below the MRL values

Multi-wavelength observations of afterglow of GRB 080319B and the modeling constraints

We present observations of the afterglow of GRB 080319B at optical, mm and radio frequencies from a few hours to 67 days after the burst. Present observations along with other published multi-wavelength data have been used to study the light-curves and spectral energy distributions of the burst afterglow. The nature of this brightest cosmic explosion has been explored based on the observed properties and it's comparison with the afterglow models. Our results show that the observed features of the afterglow fits equally good with the Inter Stellar Matter and the Stellar Wind density profiles of the circum-burst medium. In case of both density profiles, location of the maximum synchrotron frequency νm\nu_m is below optical and the value of cooling break frequency νc\nu_c is below XX-rays, 104\sim 10^{4}s after the burst. Also, the derived value of the Lorentz factor at the time of naked eye brightness is 300\sim 300 with the corresponding blast wave size of 1018\sim 10^{18} cm. The numerical fit to the multi-wavelength afterglow data constraints the values of physical parameters and the emission mechanism of the burst.Comment: 8 Pages, 3 Figures, Accepted for publication to Astronomy and Astrophysics on 02/04/200

This survey places of interest the major issues concerning privacy and security in online social networks. Firstly, we discuss investigate that aims to protect user data from the an assortment of attack vantage points together with other users, advertisers, third party request developers, and the online social arrangement provider itself. Next we cover social network supposition of user attributes, locate hubs, and link prediction. Because online social networks are so saturated with sensitive information, network inference plays a major privacy role. Social Networking sites go upwards since of all these reasons. In recent years indicates that for many people they are now the mainstream communication knowledge. Social networking sites come under few of the most frequently browsed categories websites in the world. Nevertheless Social Networking sites are also vulnerable to various problems threats and attacks such as revelation of information, identity thefts etc. Privacy practice in social networking sites often appear convoluted as in sequence sharing stands in discord with the need to reduce disclosure-related abuses. Facebook is one such most popular and widely used Social Networking sites which have its own healthy set of Privacy policy

The experiment comprised of seven treatments having varied doses of diuron 80% WP at 0.5 kg ha -1 , 0.75 kg ha 1 , 1.0 kg ha -1 and pendimethalin 38.7% CS (677 g ha -1 ) as preemergence (PE) application followed by postemergence application of pyrithiobac sodium10% EC (62.5 g ha -1 ) + quizalofop ethyl 5% EC (50.0 g ha -1 ). Non-chemical weed management treatments comprised of polyfilm, mechanical weeding (at 20, 40 and 60 days after sowing) and unweeded control. In red soil no phytotoxicity symptoms were observed in any of the herbicide treatments, but slight yellowing of seedlings was observed in diuron 1.0 kg ha -1 PE at 10 and 15 days after herbicide spray (DAHS) but the seedlings recovered completely at 10 DAHS. Phytotoxicity symptoms in black soils were manifested as severe yellowing of emerged cotton seedlings at 10 and 15 DAHS and the yellowing with reduced intensity persisted upto 30 and 45 DAHS in diuron 1.0 kg ha -1 PE treatment In the same treatment, necrosis was observed at 10 DAHS which was more pronounced at 15 DAHS and at 30 DAHS the necrotic symptoms were gradually reduced and disappeared. Seedling mortality was also observed in diuron 1.0 kg ha -1 in black soils which was severe at 15 DAHS, slight mortality at 30 DAHS and after 30 DAHS no mortality was observed

\ua9 The Author(s) 2024. C1q deficiency is a rare inborn error of immunity characterized by increased susceptibility to infections and autoimmune manifestations mimicking SLE, with an associated morbidity and mortality. Because C1q is synthesized by monocytes, to date, four patients treated with allogeneic HSCT have been reported, with a positive outcome in three. We conducted an international retrospective study to assess the outcome of HSCT in C1q deficiency. Eighteen patients, fourteen previously unreported, from eleven referral centres, were included. Two patients had two HSCTs, thus 20 HSCTs were performed in total, at a median age of 10 years (range 0.9—19). Indications for HSCT were autoimmune manifestations not controlled by ongoing treatment in seventeen, and early development of MALT lymphoma in one patient. Overall survival (OS) was 71% and event-free survival was 59% at two years (considering an event as acute GvHD ≥ grade III, disease recurrence and death). In eleven patients HSCT led to resolution of autoimmune features and discontinuation of immunosuppressive treatments (follow-up time range 3–84 months). Five patients died due to transplant-related complications. Patients with a severe autoimmune phenotype, defined as neurological and/or renal involvement, had the worst OS (40% vs 84%; p = 0.034). Reviewing data of 69 genetically confirmed C1q deficient patients, we found that anti-Ro antibodies are associated with neurologic involvement, and anti-RNP and anti-DNA antibodies with renal involvement. In conclusion, HSCT may be a valid curative option for C1q deficiency, but careful selection of patients, with an accurate assessment of risk and benefit, is mandatory
