Power quality improvement of synchronous generators using an active power filter
Active power filters (APF) are used to improve power quality and are commonly connected in parallel with the load at the point of common coupling (PCC). They are used to compensate for harmonics from nonlinear loads, for reactive power compensation and/or balancing mains currents. This paper will investigate the effect of using an APF to improve the output power quality of a simplified synchronous generator (SSG) with distorted back-EMF. A Matlab Simulink model for the SSG is built to simulate all the system, the APF and the proposed generator. Using an APF, simulation and experimental results show significant improvements in generator output current and reduced the THD in the system
The critique of psychiatry as we enter the third decade of the 21st century: Commentary on… Critical psychiatry
Critical psychiatry takes the position that ‘mental illness’ should not be reduced to ‘brain disease’. Here I consider whether this particular stance is outdated in light of more recent exchanges on reductionism, which consider questions raised by new mental health sciences that seek truly integrative and specific biopsychosocial models of illness
Foreign Judgments and Foreign Arbitral Awards Enforceability as a Factor and a Guarantee for Foreign Investments: the Case of Saudi Arabia
Foreign investments are considered an efficient and effective instrument to diversify and strengthen the economy; foreign investors generally need guarantees before entering a new market. One of these guarantees is a stable, transparent, predictable legal and judicial system. Such a system must be open to foreign laws and judgments as well as foreign arbitral awards, and it must also be flexible to increase foreign investments. Saudi Arabia has tried since the 50s’ to be more attractive to foreign investors and investments by enacting legislation and creating a modern court system to diversify their economy. However, the discretion of Saudi judges in applying and understanding Sharia is problematic as Sharia is very broad, and judges tend to use the conservative way when dealing with foreign subjects, laws, or bonds. Therefore, foreign investors, scholars, and practitioners need to know the mechanism of the Saudi enforcement court system; also, Saudi officials need to know how to improve their enforcement system to be more attractive and adaptable.
For this, the research used secondary materials, laws, and court judgments and study the efficiency of the enforcement process in Saudi Arabia as an instrument to enhance foreign investments
Talking past each other: Conceptual confusion in ‘culture’ and ‘psychopathology’
This article offers a commentary on Hassim and Wagner’s article, Considering the cultural context in psychopathology formulations, published in this issue of the South African Journal of Psychiatry (http://dx.doi.org/10.7196/SAJP.400). It clarifies aspects of the concepts of culture and psychopathology. A distinction is drawn between the content of culture and the demarcation of cultures. The former refers to socially acquired meanings and significances that condition subjective experience and the latter to specific, demarcated cultural groups. It is argued that these two meanings of culture must be kept apart, and that only the former is relevant to the project of understanding the range of cultural influences on mental health problems. This is premised on the idea, arising partially from anthropological critique, that while cultural designations (e.g. Maori or Muslim) might serve as important political and identity markers, they obscure rather than reveal the actual influences the subject is exposed to, and which condition subjective experience as seen through the modulation of distress or symptom formation

Caring Among Staff Nursing: Investigating the Meaning of Caring from the Perspective of Patients in Egypt
The aims of study were concerned on context the concept of caring from the Egyptian cultural and to rank the caring behavior from the most important to the least one for enhancing the hospital police by important aspect of caring behaviors for patient satisfaction. A convenience sample of (58) patients with no attempt at randomization were recruited in the study. Descriptive research design was used in this study. This research was carried out at surgical units in Private and Government Hospital. Two types of questionnaires were used in this study. (i) the Personnel characteristics data questionnaire, which was developed by the researcher to collect data associated with the major demographic variables of patient participants. (ii) Caring Behavior Assessment (CBA) scale which was used to measure patient perceptions of caring behaviors. The finding of the present study revealed that the CBA Subscales is significant difference between these two health care service providers. Therefore, the service of Government hospitals in relation to availability of CBA to patients was highest than that of the private. The current study conclude that the caring concept was context among Egyptian perception as Humanism as the first aspect for all patient in surgical units followed by helping and trust. So theses main elements should be base stone of hospital protocol to raise patient satisfaction. Keywords: Caring, Staff nurses, Perspective of patient, Behavior assessmen
An Analysis of Android Malware Classification Services
The increasing number of Android malware forced antivirus (AV) companies to rely on automated classification techniques to determine the family and class of suspicious samples. The research community relies heavily on such labels to carry out prevalence studies of the threat ecosystem and to build datasets that are used to validate and benchmark novel detection and classification methods. In this work, we carry out an extensive study of the Android malware ecosystem by surveying whitepapers and reports from 6 keyplayers in the industry as well as 81 papers from 8 top security conferences to understand how malware datasets are used by both. We, then, explore the limitations associated with the use of available malware classification services, namely VirusTotal (VT) engines, for determining the family of an Android sample. Using a dataset of 2.47M Android malware samples, we find that the detection coverage of VT's AVs is generally very low, that the percentage of samples flagged by any 2 AV engines does not go beyond 52%, and that common families between any pair of AV engines is at best 29%. We rely on clustering to determine the extent to which different AV engine pairs agree upon which samples belong to the same family (regardless of the actual family name), and find that there are discrepancies that can introduce noise in automatic label unification schemes. We also observe the usage of generic labels and inconsistencies within the labels of top AV engines, suggesting that their efforts are directed towards accurate detection rather than classification. Our results contribute to a better understanding of the limitations of using Android malware family labels as supplied by common AV engines.TRUEpu
A study on prescribing errors in in-patients of a corporate tertiary care hospital in North India
Background: Prescribing errors are a subset of medication errors which have a potential for grave harm to the patient. Identification and acknowledgement of such errors can ameliorate much of this danger. Studies of prescribing errors are sparse in India. Such studies, whatever have been conducted, mainly focus on the out-patients or the patients on discharge. Hence, this study was undertaken to study the prescribing errors in prescriptions generated for patients admitted in wards of a corporate hospital in North India. Methods: The prescriptions for in-patients admitted in wards were analyzed for different types of prescribing errors in individual drug orders and prescription as a whole. Results: The prescribing error rate was found to be 3.3% in this study. Of all errors, errors leading to delays in patient care (i.e. Errors of prescription writing) (54.54%) and erroneous copying of the prescription to the drug chart by junior/ resident doctors (Transcription errors) (31.31%) were found to be the major causes of prescribing errors in this study. Of the former category, prescribing a wrong strength (24.24%) and illegible drug orders (12.12%) were the most numerous error subtypes. Errors leading to sub-optimal patient care (i.e. Errors of decision making) were least identified of which Therapeutic duplication (12.12%) was the most common subtype. Conclusions: The error rate found in this study is comparable to the data available from developed countries. However, there are significant differences in the occurrences of error subtypes found in this study as compared to the studies of the west
Mediating Role of Brand Image in the Relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility & Brand Equity: An Investigation on Unilever Bangladesh
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), is one of the most discussed topics when it comes to operationalising a unique approach to do marketing and as such, create a competitive advantage for the company. Despite its popularity, CSR is not properly addressed by many Bangladeshi companies. This study sheds light upon the concept of CSR in the perspective of a multinational company, Unilever Bangladesh Limited, which has been active with their CSR initiatives for years now. This research explains the concept of CSR and discusses the dimensions of CSR (economic, social and environmental) and their benefits through the TBL paradigm. Literature has been added based on previous researches defining brand image and brand equity and addressing the relationships between CSR dimensions and brand image and brand equity. Hypotheses were then proposed to reach the research objectives of this study. Data were collected from 124 respondents through convenience sampling technique. An online-based survey was conducted due to lockdown order due to Covid-19 outbreak. The outcomes of this study confirm a significant and positive mediating effect of brand image between the relationships of economic CSR and the social CSR activities with brand equity, while the mediating effect of brand image does not exist in between the relationship of environmental CSR activities and brand equity. Finally, findings of the study may help to create a positive mindset of customers regarding the good intents of Unilever Bangladesh Limited towards Sustainable Living Plan
Design and Optimization of an Autonomous Constellation of Small-satellites for LEO and Beyond
The speedy data reception with useful applications such as disaster management remains to be need of the hour. This paper addresses the major concerns relating to deployment and control of the larger small satellite (mainly cubesats) constellations in LEO by determining their relative position and velocity errors under certain acceptable limits with collision avoidance techniques. The article will also discuss the importance of Inter-satellite link to significantly to strengthen the satellite tracking and their data sharing speeds. The issue of optimal dispatch of the satellites by optimizing the constellation size is detailed though observing and controlling the orbits using a well-defined cost and objective function. Given the fact that the small satellites have certain physical constraints such as size and capacity to communicate among satellites and in-orbit exchange of resources, the overall control and optimization of the satellite coverage with travel time through a ground station and their orbit becomes inevitable. Hence, a detailed optimization analysis has been carried to observe and make important conclusions. Th same autonomy of a small satellite constellation is also discussed briefly for deep-space communication considering the cislunar space (NHRO) as one potential destination
