The Cosmic Ray ^3He/^4He Ratio from 200 MeV per Nucleon^(-1) to 3.7 GeV per Nucleon^(-1)
The abundances of cosmic-ray helium isotopes between 0.2 and 3.7 GeV nucleon^(-1) were measured by
the Isotope Matter Antimatter Experiment (IMAX) during a flight from Lynn Lake, Manitoba, Canada
on 1992 July 16-17. The IMAX balloon-borne magnetic spectrometer realized a direct measurement of
the charge, the velocity, and the rigidity of cosmic rays using plastic scintillators, a high-resolution time-of-flight system, and two silica-aerogel Cerenkov counters in conjunction with a drift chamber/multiwire proportional chamber tracking system. About 75,000 helium isotopes are identified by their mass using the velocity versus magnetic rigidity technique. The measured ^3He/^4He ratios are corrected to the top of the atmosphere, and a comparison with previous data is given. The observed isotopic composition is found to be generally consistent with the predictions of a standard leaky box model of cosmic-ray transport in the Galaxy
Applying Integrative Taxonomic Approaches to Resolve Health and Resilience of the Keystone Coral Species Complex Acropora hyacinthus throughout the Great Barrier Reef
University of Technology Sydney. Faculty of Science.Biodiversity underpins the Life Sciences, guiding research and conservation of the natural world. Fundamental to biodiversity is the species-level resolution of taxonomy. For hard corals (Scleractinia) much of this diversity is undescribed, with mounting evidence that we lack species-level taxonomic resolution of key genera, which raises questions about scientific understanding of coral health, abundance, and threats. In this thesis I have performed an integrated taxonomic revision, combining molecular and morphological analysis, to resolve species boundaries of a known species complex within the genus Acropora. In doing so I discovered new species of coral and resurrect several nominal species, increasing the known diversity of this group. With this revised species-level diversity I addressed key questions involving coral health and conservation. Firstly, by exploring species-specific relationships between corals and their endosymbiotic algae along the length of the Great Barrier Reef to reveal biogeographic patterns of symbiont associations. Then, through investigations of novel morphological traits to delineate between co-occurring Acropora species, offering a new morphological-based framework for species identification. Collectively, throughout this thesis I have performed a robust taxonomic revision of a keystone coral species complex, and then applied the gained knowledge to two key areas of research and conservation for coral reefs

Pocillopora host–symbiont interactions along an extreme environmental gradient
Pocilloporid corals and their Symbiodiniaceae symbionts have co-evolved. Host–symbiont associations might be driven by adaptation to distinct ecological niches. Here, we used single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to examine host population structure, characterised Symbiodiniaceae associations in shaded and exposed areas of coral using Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS2) metabarcoding, and identified photobiological phenotypes of Pocillopora acuta colonies from two acidic, deoxygenated and highly variable temperature mangrove environments versus two adjacent reef locations. We found two genetic clusters of P. acuta with evidence of potential hybrid individuals. Limited admixture suggests low levels of gene flow between the reef and mangrove sites. Each of the two lineages was predominantly associated with either reef or mangrove habitats, with distinct dominant symbionts (Cladocopium (reef) and Durusdinium (mangrove)), each with different photobiological strategies. Hybrid individuals exhibited greatest heterogeneity in ITS2 profiles compared to the two other populations. Our results provide evidence that the two lineages are part of a known species complex as suggested by population structure and morphological differences. The genetic distinctiveness of the sampled populations emphasises the unique diversity within the extreme environments. Consequently, conservation efforts should aim to minimise additional anthropogenic impacts at these sites

The use of etoricoxib to treat an idiopathic stabbing headache: a case report
According to the International Headache Society, idiopathic stabbing headache (ISH), an indomethacin-responsive headache syndrome, is a paroxysmal disorder of short duration manifested as head pain occurring as a single stab or a series of stabs involving the area supplied in the distribution of the first division of the trigeminal nerve. Stabs last for approximately a few seconds, occurring and recurring from once to multiple times per day in an irregular frequency, with no underlying attributable disorder
Hybrid Superstrings on Singular Calabi-Yau Fourfolds
Two-dimensional hybrid superstring on singular Calabi-Yau manifolds is
studied by the field redefinition of the NSR formalism. The compactification on
singular Calabi-Yau fourfold is described by N=2 super-Liouville theory and N=2
Landau-Ginzburg models. We examine the world-sheet topological N=4
superconformal algebra, which is useful to identify physical states of the
theory. It is shown that the space-time superconformal symmetry is not
compatible with this original topological algebra. A new model is proposed by
modifying the topological superconformal generators, which is consistent with
space-time N=2 superconformal symmetry.Comment: 15pages,latex, typos correcte
