Radii of Starlikeness Associated with the Lemniscate of Bernoulli and the Left-Half Plane

A normalized analytic function f defined on the open unit disk in the complex plane is in the class SL if zf'(z)/f(z) lies in the region bounded by the right-half of the lemniscate of Bernoulli given by |w^2 - 1| < 1. In the present investigation, the SL-radii for certain well-known classes of functions are obtained. Radius problems associated with the left-half plane are also investigated for these classe

Delayed Mode Quality control of Indian Argo floats

An observational network array of about 3000 autonomous profiling floats, known as Argo, has been evolving since the year 2000. India is a participant of the International Argo program, and Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services(INCOIS) has the overall responsibility for implementation of the Indian Argo project, including the Argo regional centre (ARC) for the Indian ocean. One of the prime responsibility of regional data centre is delayed mode duality control (DMQC). The Argo array is delivering large number vertical profiles of temperature, salinity and other parameters from the surface to depths up to 2000 m. While floats are expected to give good measurements of temperature and pressure, salinity measurements sometimes show significant sensor drift with time or offsetsThe calibration procedure is called WJO method in short and OW method, after the recent modification by Owens and Wong [2009]. This report presents the major components of the work carried out at INCOIS using the WJO/OW software to provide best quality data to the end user. This report also presents all floats calibrated at INCOIS and their WJO/OW recommended corrections and the final decision taken about each floats considering the regional oceanography and various other factors (in attached CD-ROM)

Reviving Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation: An Agenda for Action

    Get PDF
In this article, we examine in detail the reasons related to the declining operating and financial performance of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC). The contribution of various environmental and governance issues related to the decline of GSRTC are identified. Based on the diagnosis, a detailed revival plan consisting of a set of actions to be undertaken by the management is proposed. The responsibilities of the government, the management, and the employees in implementing the revival plan are briefly discussed. This article concludes with set of strategic priorities that need to be examined by government in reviving GSTRC and other similar state-owned public utilities.

Studies on the distribution and standing crop of algae at Muthupet estuary, Tamilnadu

    Get PDF
Studies were made on the occurrence and standing crop of algae from six localities in Muthupet estuary for a period of six months from March to August 1988. Totally 19 afgae belonging to the groups Chlorophyta, Phaeophyta, Rhodophyta and Cyanophyta were recorded. The green algae numbered more than other algae in all the stations. The biomass estimated for Gracilaria verruocsa, Hypnea valentiae and Enleromorpha spp. varied from 905 to 1220 gm/m2, 740 to 980. gm/m2 and 53 to 72 gm/m' respectively

Indian Argo Trajectories and Surface Currents

An important objective of Argo is measurement of ocean circulation. As Argo floats collect salinity/temperature profiles, they also give information on the surface and subsurface currents. Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) being a Regional Data Assembly Centre for Indian Argo has so far launched 160 floats in the Indian Ocean to develop the global ocean observation system as a part of international cooperation project and is responsible for real time generation and dissemination of this data. This work is an attempt to extract information on sea surface in application to the Lagrangian part of the Argo floats. This report constitutes two sections. The first section documents the process of operational generation and dissemination of the Argo trajectory data. The second section describes the data product, Surface Currents and its comparison with Simple Ocean Data Assimilation & Drifting buoy currents
