Health Financing Policies in Jordan: The Allocation of Public Expenditures in Global Context
Background: This article aimed to clarify the adequacy of government financial resources toward furnishing the provision of efficient healthcare for fulfilling the health challenges in the light of worse economic scenario in Jordan. Methods: This analytical and prognostic study of healthcare spending in Jordan focuses on the public sectors that finance healthcare. Hence, all the available studies and posted materials in the nearby and global levels were used to analyze the government abilities to proceed with presenting healthcare within the current constraints. Results: Our results revealed that, in any case, the Jordanian government is not organized to proceed or prepared to continue providing health services at the present trend: fast increase in demand over publicly funded services in the absence of efficiency gains. Conclusions: For the healthcare system to be significantly efficient and equitable, the cash burden of contributions ought to be progressive toward preserving long-term sustainability. There is a progressive impact of the reform on healthcare provision and finance systems once the contributor\u27s expenses are used to construct it; however, these findings do not seem to be conclusive
Female Competencies from the Narratives of the Qur’an: Queen of Sheba’s Crisis Management Style as a Leadership Model
This article examines the skills and competency of women in managing crises as narrated in the Holy Qur'an. The various kinds of crises (social, cultural, religious, and political crises) that exist in societies are illustrated in the Qur'an. It also gives different stories showing women's ability to manage and find solutions to crises. Among the different crises portrayed in the Qur'an, this article explicitly addresses the political crisis encountered by the Queen of Sheba (Bilqis) in her kingdom with Prophet Sulaiman (PBUH) as an example and how she managed it. It explains how the Queen managed the crisis with minimum loss through her leadership skills. A qualitative method is applied to analyze data derived from various sources such as theses, journals, and articles related to the principles of crisis management from an Islamic perspective and followed by exploring the crisis management models by being directed to the Al-Qur'an (the primary sources of Islam) and its interpretation. In this study, the political crisis, its management strategies, and its recovery results are analyzed. The study results show that women can be successful leaders with leadership characteristics, management, and personal skills
Availability of Friendly Islamic Tourism Facilities in Jordan
Halal tourism, also known as Islamic tourism, is a new pattern of tourism that emerged after 9/11 made travel to the United States and Europe more dangerous for Muslims. Hotels and other tourism businesses are adapting their practices to suit these travelers, providing them with Halal products and programming. This study aims to gauge the degree to which these features can be found in hotels in Jordan, as well as Jordanian businesses’ awareness of Halal tourism. Based on the results of a survey provided to 29 hotels across Jordan, Jordanian hotels share many features of ‘Halal hotels’, though this may be due to Jordan’s large Muslim population. Jordanian awareness of Halal tourism is growing, and many of the hotels surveyed plan to incorporate more aspects of Halal tourism into their own programming.. Assessing Site Selection of College Student Housing : Commuting Efficiency across Time
Universities around the world are promoting walking for their students because it provides many health and environmental benefits at the personal as well as the community level. This paper aims to help universities, city planners and housing investors in the process of efficient site selection for future student housing projects, by analyzing off-campus students’ commuting habits and travel time preferences to and from the university campuses. An online survey is operated to collect responses of students (n= 527) from two Jordanian universities located within the city of Irbid (N-Jordan). Results indicate that the mean value for students’ longest preferred one-way walking duration is 17.04± 8.25 minutes for the whole sample. A statistically significant negative correlation is found between students’ longest preferred one-way walking duration and age. The percentage of students who would accept this duration was represented in a formula in order to calculate the accumulated walking potential of varied sites around university campuses. The paper presented a local scenario using GIS mapping where this process was implemented to evaluate prospect vacant sites' walking potential around Yarmouk University, Irbid, Jordan
Spiritual Guidance for Patients According to Ibn- Qayyem Al-Jawziyyah: An Analytical Study of the Prophetic Medicine Book الإرشاد الروحي للمرضى عند الإمام ابن قيم الجوزية دراسة تحليلية لكتاب الطب النبوي
Spiritual guidance has recently received much attention at the level of medical research and scientific studies and has been used much at the level of applied and realistic treatments in hospitals and medical centers. This kind of therapy was not strange to Islamic medicine, but it was a cornerstone and a prominent feature in medicine. Ibn Al-Qayem made significant contributions related to spiritual guidance as he shed light in his book The Prophetic Medicine on spiritual recovery and its elements, and he set rules and guidelines for spiritual therapy. His writings on spiritual guidance and its sources played a significant role in understanding spiritual guidance. This research paper aims to introduce an integrated formulation of spiritual guidance based on Ibn Al-Qayem’s book The Prophetic Medicine.
The Nabataean minister Syllaeus in a new Ancient North Arabian (Safaitic) inscription
The aim of this study is to shed light on a new Ancient North Arabian inscription containing a reference to the Nabataean minister Syllaeus. This inscription is the second from the known corpus of Ancient North Arabian to mention the name of this minister, and could be dated to the last quarter of the 1st century BC. The inscription includes the rare verb ngy which means “to flee”
Xanthogranulomatous Appendicitis in a Child: Report of a Case and Review of the Literature
Xanthogranulomatous inflammation is a well-described inflammatory process, which may involve any organ but is most frequently encountered in the gall bladder and the kidney. There are rare reports of xanthogranulomatous appendicitis (XA) in the adult population, but only one brief mention of such a diagnosis in a child. In this report, we describe the case of an 11-year-old boy who presented with clinical signs and symptoms of acute appendicitis necessitating appendectomy. Upon microscopic examination, the appendix showed the typical features of XA. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first well-described case XA in a noninterval appendix in a child. We also reviewed the limited medical literature on the subject
Time Series UAV Image-Based Point Clouds for Landslide Progression Evaluation Applications
Landslides are major and constantly changing threats to urban landscapes and infrastructure. It is essential to detect and capture landslide changes regularly. Traditional methods for monitoring landslides are time-consuming, costly, dangerous, and the quality and quantity of the data is sometimes unable to meet the necessary requirements of geotechnical projects. This motivates the development of more automatic and efficient remote sensing approaches for landslide progression evaluation. Automatic change detection involving low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle image-based point clouds, although proven, is relatively unexplored, and little research has been done in terms of accounting for volumetric changes. In this study, a methodology for automatically deriving change displacement rates, in a horizontal direction based on comparisons between extracted landslide scarps from multiple time periods, has been developed. Compared with the iterative closest projected point (ICPP) registration method, the developed method takes full advantage of automated geometric measuring, leading to fast processing. The proposed approach easily processes a large number of images from different epochs and enables the creation of registered image-based point clouds without the use of extensive ground control point information or further processing such as interpretation and image correlation. The produced results are promising for use in the field of landslide research
