    Impact of titanium dioxide particles on adsorption properties of HZSM-5 zeolite for toluene treatment

    Introduction: Today, a variety of catalysts were used for the removal of the volatile organic compound in work environments. Zeolites are frequently used as catalyst and catalyst base because of their desirable characteristics. HZSM-5 attracts the attention of air pollution researchers in recent years. The aim of this study is to investigate the adsorption properties of HZSM-5/titanium dioxide (TiO2) catalyst. Materials and Methods: A dynamic system was used for producing 42 ppm of toluene in 250C, 5% humidity, and environment pressure. For determination of adsorption capacity, 42 ppm of toluene with the flow of 0.5 L/min passed through the reactor containing 1 g of the HZSM-5/TiO2catalyst which was coated within 3%, 5%, and 8% of TiO2using impregnation method. For determination of the catalyst characteristics, different analyses of X-ray diffraction, Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET), Fourier transform infrared, and scanning electron microscope were used. Results: Adsorption capacity was 22.3, 23.81, 38.06, and 28.88 mg/g for HZSM-5, HZSM-5/Tio23%, HZSM-5/Tio25% and HZSM-5/Tio28%, respectively. The specific surface was 298.8 m2/g for HZSM-5 and 212.8, 189.3, and 185.1 m2/g for 3%, 5%, and 8% HZSM-5/TiO2catalyst, respectively. Results indicated that the breakthrough time increases by increasing in weight percent of TiO2. Adsorption isotherm was identified as type I, based on International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) classification. Conclusion: The integration of TiO2particles with HZSM-5 created a photocatalyst with desirable properties that include high adsorption capacity and long breakthrough time to maintain a high amount of toluene vapors, which lead to better removal efficiency

    Textile Industry Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment by Using HAZAN Method

    Background: Today with industry growth, hazards are increasing. The most important parts of these industries are human resources and employees, that face with many various hazards. Therefore, in order to protect and increase the productivity these hazards must be identified and analyzed to be controlled. Methods: The present study focused on hazard identification and risk assessment in spinning sector of a textile industry as one of the important and strategic industries by using HAZAN method.  For data gathering, different methods including HAZAN worksheet, risk detecting checklist, walking, talking, process plots and documents were used, and then risk assessment was carried out. Results: The finding represented 102 risks in the production line. Most of the risks were found in ring section (n=33), Flyer (n=26), Autoconer (n=18), Tightening (n=15) and Packing (n=10) respectively. 20.59% of these risks were 2nd rank (undesirable), 16.67% were 3rd rank (acceptable if controlled) and 62.74% were 4th rank (acceptable). In addition, high-risk jobs were feeding the empty bobbin during the shift and bobbin handling from the Autoconer unit. Also, analyses were performed based on the risk assessment method and statistical tests were not required. Conclusion: The 4th rank risk was the largest group that’s acceptable. It is notable that 2nd risk rank should be turned into 3rd risk rank in reliable time. For 3rd risk rank making sure that existing control is in place is sufficient. For making a safe work environment and increasing productivity, minimizing risk by safety training and other measures are useful.</jats:p

    Investigating the Contract Welders Quality of Life and the Quality of Working Life Relationship in Anzaly City in 2014

    Background: Today human resources are strategic parts of the organizations and are considered as intelligent and valuable assets. Human resources are the most valuable asset of organizations that face the major problem. Research has shown that working life and personal life have an interactive and exacerbate effect on each other. Based on the vast variety of harmful effects that endanger welders health it was tried to investigate the relationship between life quality and working life quality of contract welders in a shipbuilding factory in Bandar Anzali city.&#x0D; Methods: In this analytical descriptive cross–a sectional study carried in 2014, 100 contract welders in the shipbuilding industry in Bandar Anzali was selected with the systematic method, and participated as contract welders. Data were collected with reliable and validated questionnaires include demographic information, life quality questionnaire (SF-36), and Walton life quality questionnaire (1975). Data were analyzed using SPSS18 software by using the Pearson correlation test.&#x0D; Result: %84 of contract welders were very happy with their life quality, and %60 were satisfied with working life quality. There was a significant meaningful relationship between life quality and working life quality (P&lt;= 0.00, r= 0.4). The overall living space variable from life quality had a significant meaningful relationship with life quality score changes (P &lt;= 0.042, r= 0.342). There wasn’t any relationship between age, degree, and job experience with life quality and working life quality. But a single job or not having a second job had a significant meaningful relationship with life quality satisfaction and working life quality (P&lt;= 0.023, r=0.262).&#x0D; Conclusion: This study showed that there was a relationship between life quality and working life quality. Therefore improvement in either of these two can improve the other one and also help the health promotion of welders.</jats:p
