We review the relaxation of breathers in Fermi-Pasta-Ulam arrays, with a specific focus on the different relaxation channels and their dependence on the interparticle interactions, dimensionality, initial condition, and system parameters

Women as leaders of labour migrations: the case of industrial agriculture in Spain

El presente artículo se propone abordar los procesos de feminización del trabajo y la inmigración que tienen lugar en el cultivo intensivo de la fresa en el sur de España, concretamente a raíz de la implantación de un programa de trabajadoras agrícolas de temporada. Para analizar cómo las mujeres se incorporan a las migraciones laborales internacionales se atenderá, tanto a las dinámicas de las cadenas agrícolas globales que crean las condiciones para la demanda de trabajadoras inmigrantes, como a los factores y experiencias desde las que las mujeres responden a dicha demanda. El análisis, realizado desde la perspectiva de la antropología feminista, se apoya en una metodología cualitativa basada en las técnicas de la entrevista en profundidad y la observación participante.The present article aims to abroad the feminization of work and immigration process that takes place in the intensive crops of strawberries in southern Spain, particularly trough the implementation of the seasonal agricultural workers program. To analyze how women are incorporated to the international workers migration will be addressed, both the dynamics of global agricultural chains that create the conditions from migrant women’s need. The analysis realized from the perspective of feminist anthropology, it´s supported on a qualitative methodology based on the techniques of the depth-interviews and the participant observation

Synthetizing hydrodynamic turbulence from noise: formalism and applications to plankton dynamics

We present an analytical scheme, easily implemented numerically, to generate synthetic Gaussian 2D turbulent flows by using linear stochastic partial differential equations, where the noise term acts as a random force of well-prescribed statistics. This methodology leads to a divergence-free, isotropic, stationary and homogeneous velocity field, whose characteristic parameters are well reproduced, in particular the kinematic viscosity and energy spectrum. This practical approach to tailor a turbulent flow is justified by its versatility when analizing different physical processes occurring in advectely mixed systems. Feminist thoughts on the confrontation agrifood globalization vs. food sovereignty

En un contexto caracterizado por la creciente mercantilización de la alimentación y la naturaleza, el presente artículo se propone reflexionar, desde una perspectiva feminista, sobre la confrontación que se establece entre la lógica del sistema agroalimentario globalizado y la propuesta de la soberanía alimentaria. En este trabajo planteamos la necesidad de superar el sesgo androcéntrico vigente en los estudios agrarios haciendo visible las implicaciones que ambos modelos tienen en función del sexo. Asimismo, proponemos algunas premisas teóricas feministas para encuadrar y repensar el estudio de los sistemas agroalimentarios desde el marco más amplio de la reproducción social de la vida y desde un enfoque atento a las prácticas y relaciones sociales.In a context characterized by the increasing commodification of food and nature, this article intends to reflect, from a feminist perspective, on the confrontation that exists between the logic of globalized agro-food system and the proposal of food sovereignty. This paper proposes the need to overcome the current androcentric bias in agricultural studies making visible the gender implications that both models include. It also proposes some feminist theoretical premises and to rethink the study frame of the agro-food systems from a broader framework of social reproduction of life and from an approach that underlines particular practices and social relations

Um olhar feminista sobre o trabalho nas cadeias agrícolas globais

Este texto apresenta algumas chaves teóricas que permitem enquadrar e repensar o estudo do trabalho em cadeias agrícolas globais a partir de uma perspectiva feminista, a fim de superar o viés androcêntrico ainda vigente nos estudos agrícolas. Para ilustrar essas ideias nos apoiaremos, de forma sucinta, em alguns resultados obtidos a partir de uma investigação empírica realizada, a partir do campo da antropologia social, sobre a organização social do trabalho na agricultura de exportação na Andaluzia (sul da Espanha).The present study analyzes theoretical concepts that permit us to restructure the literature on global agro-food chains from a feminist perspective, with the intention to surpass the androcentric bias present in the majority of agricultural studies. To illustrate these proposals we will base our arguments on concise results extracted from an empirical investigation conducted from a social anthropological perspective, concerning the social labor organization in intensive agriculture (South of Spain)
