Ecological Apparency Hypothesis and Availability of Useful Plants: Testing different seu values
The present study tested the ecological apparency hypothesis in a Brazilian rural community. It used the use value to test the information gained through three types of calculations (UVchange, UVgeneral, UVpotential). A vegetation inventory was performed in two areas near Capivara, Paraíba, Brazil, and 112 informants were interviewed. For the hypothesis test, the Spearman correlation coefficient was used to correlate the phytosociological (vegetation) and ethnobotanical data (use value). The study recorded 25 useful species in the first site and 20 in the second site. Positive correlations were found in the first site, between the UVg to basal area and dominance, and between the UVc and basal area, dominance, and importance value. In the second site, between the UVg and both basal area and dominance and between UVc and basal area, density, and dominance. Apparency explained the local importance of useful plants in construction, technology, and fuel, but was not explanative of medicine. Also, important responses were observed for the different use values
Structure and Floristics of Home Gardens in an Altitudinal Marsh in Northeastern Brazil
Home gardens are a traditional land use practice, which is very common in the tropics. The main goal of the home garden is to produce food for subsistence purposes. Therefore, they have been considered very important from an economic, cultural and ecological point of view. Despite their importance, there has been a lack in research of these environments in Northeastern Brazil. This research was carried out in a rural community belonging to Areia City (Paraíba, Brazil), and aimed to study the floristic diversity of home gardens and their contribution in the conservation of the local diversity. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, also using the technique of guided tours with the home garden maintainer. At the same time, the yards were measured, as well as all shrubby arboreal individuals present with DGL (diameter at ground level) ≥ 3 cm. A total of 19 yards were analyzed. 177 species were recorded, of which 155 were identified, representing 63 families and 131 genera. Fabaceae (16 spp.), Euphorbiaceae (10 spp.) and Myrtaceae (7 spp.) were the most represented plant families. 94 of the identified species are considered exotic and 83 are native, considering the origin at regional level. Structurally, the home gardens from Vaca Brava community have shown themselves as complex and rich in diversity, as a result of the association of crops and fruit, as well as the presence of native woody plants for which no uses were reported
A IDEOLOGIA NO CINEMA DISTÓPICO CONTEMPORÂNEO: ANÁLISE DOS FILMES “JOGOS VORAZES” E “DIVERGENTE”
Com o objetivo de identificar a ideologia presente nos filmes distópicos contemporâneos, e em especial, Jogos Vorazes e Divergente, e também compreender a relação que se dá entre a distopia e a ideologia, foi realizada uma análise, na qual foi dividida em categorias, que possibilitaram o correto estudo do conteúdo nas duas produções. Com a análise, foi possível determinar qual a ideologia abordada pelos filmes, quais aspectos da ideologia dominante se manifestaram com maior intensidade, identificar as características distópicas da narrativa, bem como realizar a análise de conteúdo do filme. A pesquisa se constitui de uma pesquisa bibliográfica e de uma análise de conteúdo. Encontrou-se similaridades na estrutura ideológica e distópica de ambos os filmes, sendo que a principal diferença entre eles se concentra apenas na ideologia dominante, sendo Jogos Vorazes categorizado como majoritariamente marxista, enquanto Divergente apresenta de forma quase igual as ideologias marxistas e zizekianas. Nota-se a distopia, presente em pouca quantidade, atua sobretudo como ferramenta de crítica ideológica, pois através de sua construção de mundo futurista, possibilita a análise das implicações ideológicas que poderiam surgir, e consequentemente, permite o debate acerca de quais ações da sociedade real poderiam levar à um mundo caótico, abusivo e opressor como o representado na tela. Dessa forma, o estudo fez uso de conceitos teóricos de reconhecida importância encontrar e determinar a linha ideológica e a categorização distópica abordada pelos filmes deste gênero
Lymphocyte subsets in human immunodeficiency virus-unexposed Brazilian individuals from birth to adulthood
Ethnic origin, genetics, gender and environmental factors have been shown to influence some immunologic indices, so that development of reference values for populations of different backgrounds may be necessary. We have determined the distribution of lymphocyte subsets in healthy Brazilian individuals from birth to adulthood. Lymphocyte subsets were determined using four-colour cytometry in a cross-sectional study of 463 human immunodeficiency virus-unexposed children and adults from birth through 49 years of age. Lymphocyte subsets varied according to age, as previously observed in other studies. However, total CD4+ T cell numbers were lower than what was described in the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group P1009 (PACTG P1009), which assessed an American population of predominantly African and Hispanic backgrounds until the 12-18 year age range, when values were comparable. Naïve percentages and absolute values of CD8+ T cells, as assessed by CD45RA expression, were also lower than the PACTG P1009 data for all analysed age ranges. CD38 expression on both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells was lower than the PACTG P1009 values, with a widening gap between the two studies at older age ranges. Extrativismo do ouro no século XXI. Exemplos no Sudoeste da Amazônia Brasileira
In this article we discuss the trend of extinction of the traditional small scale gold mining (informal or illegal) in the Brazilian Amazon. In the case of southwestern Amazon, public policies adopted, which include stimulating cooperativism, did not contribute to the solution the problem of small scale mining informality and illegality. © 2016 Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. O LÚDICO E O ENSINO DE GEOMETRIA: UMA VIVÊNCIA DE OFICINA NO 7° ANO
This experience report is the result of an experience in the 7th year of Elementary School, in a municipal public school in Senhor do Bonfim-BA, referring to the experience of a workshop built with didactic materials and games made in the Laboratory of Studies and Research in Education Mathematics (LEPEM/CNPq), involving Geometry content. This is a proposal financed by the Afirmativa program, of the Pro-Rectory of Affirmative Actions (PROAF), of the State University of Bahia (UNEB). Carrying out the pedagogical activities proposed by the workshop allowed us to perceive the formative potential of manipulative materials for the Geometry teaching-learning process; something that also allowed us to reflect on how much playfulness reverberates for learning and training, especially when approaching the school to carry out extension activities.
Este relato de experiência é resultado de uma vivência no 7° ano do Ensino Fundamental, em uma escola pública municipal de Senhor do Bonfim- BA, referente a vivência de uma oficinas construída com materiais didáticos e jogos confeccionados no Laboratório de Estudos e Pesquisas em Educação Matemática (LEPEM/CNPq), envolvendo conteúdos de Geometria. Trata-se de uma proposta financiada pelo programa Afirmativa, da Pró-Reitoria de Ações Afirmativas (PROAF), da Universidade do Estado da Bahia (UNEB). A realização das atividades pedagógicas propostas pela oficina nos permitiu perceber o potencial formativo dos materiais manipulativos para o processo de ensino-aprendizagem da Geometria; algo que nos permitiu, também, refletir sobre o quanto o lúdico reverbera para as aprendizagens e formação, sobretudo, ao aproximar-se da escola para a realização de atividades de extensão.
Metapesquisa no campo da Educação Estatística com foco na educação de jovens e adultos
The purpose of this article is to identify and understand how research that uses Statistical Education as an aid to teaching and learning in Youth and Adult Education is presented. Methodologically, this is a qualitative and interpretive research that uses the principles of a meta-research from the survey of the works published in the annals of 04 events in the area of Mathematics Education, International Seminar on Research in Mathematics Education (SIPEM), National Meeting of Mathematics Education (ENEM), International Conference on Teaching Mathematics (CIEM) and the International Symposium on Research in Mathematics Education (SIPEMAT). After careful reading of the title, abstract and keywords, we found a universe of 172 works in the field of Statistical Education. Of these, only 10 (ten) studies contemplated the Education of Youths and Adults began to constitute our corpus of research. Six a priori categories were defined for analysis: (a) on institutions; (b) on authorship; (c) method and instruments of data production; (d) on the theoretical contributions; (e) content addressed and; (f) the role of the EJA student in the research. The results show that the texts analyzed here reveal the variety of themes addressed in these works. Facing this understanding, it is revealed that the research in Statistics Education continues to seek and present arguments, new methodologies and didactic teaching proposals that justify its use in the classroom.O presente artigo tem como propósito identificar e compreender como se apresentam a produção da pesquisa em Educação Estatística que tem como foco o ensino aprendizagem na Educação de Jovens e Adultos. Metodologicamente trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa interpretativa e que se utilizou dos princípios de uma metapesquisa a partir do levantamento dos trabalhos publicados nos anais de 04 eventos da área da Educação Matemática: i) Seminário Internacional de Pesquisa em Educação Matemática (SIPEM); ii) Encontro Nacional de Educação Matemática (ENEM); iii) Congresso Internacional de Ensino de Matemática (CIEM); e iv) Simpósio Internacional de Pesquisa em Educação Matemática (SIPEMAT). Após leitura atenciosa do título, resumo e palavras-chave encontramos um universo de 172 trabalhos no campo da Educação Estatística. Desses, apenas 10 (dez) trabalhos contemplaram a Educação de Jovens e Adultos e passaram a constituir nosso corpus de pesquisa. Foram definidas seis categorias a priori para análise: (a) sobre as instituições; (b) sobre autorias; (c) método e instrumentos de produção de dados; (d) sobre os aportes teóricos; (e) conteúdo abordado e; (f) o papel do estudante da EJA na pesquisa. Os resultados apontam que os textos analisados apresentam uma variedade de temáticas. Frente a essa compreensão revela-se que a pesquisa em Educação Estatística continua buscando e apresentando argumentos, novas metodologias e propostas didáticas de ensino que justifiquem a sua utilização em sala aula
