Disqualifying Counsel in Corporate Representation-Eroding Standards in Changing Times
The author describes common situations in which a conflict of interest may provide grounds for disqualification of an attorney or a law firm from participating in litigation or other adversary proceedings. The article then traces the movement of some federal courts away from traditional rules and principles of disqualification for conflict of interest. Discussing some of the pressures to change the rules, such as the need of large corporate law firms to conduct business nationwide, the author finally expresses doubt that the organized bar can create clear and demanding ethical rules for itself

Coming down from the trees: is terrestrial activity in Bornean orangutans natural or disturbance driven?
The orangutan is the world's largest arboreal mammal, and images of the red ape moving through the tropical forest canopy symbolise its typical arboreal behaviour. Records of terrestrial behaviour are scarce and often associated with habitat disturbance. We conducted a large-scale species-level analysis of ground-based camera-trapping data to evaluate the extent to which Bornean orangutans Pongo pygmaeus come down from the trees to travel terrestrially, and whether they are indeed forced to the ground primarily by anthropogenic forest disturbances. Although the degree of forest disturbance and canopy gap size influenced terrestriality, orangutans were recorded on the ground as frequently in heavily degraded habitats as in primary forests. Furthermore, all age-sex classes were recorded on the ground (flanged males more often). This suggests that terrestrial locomotion is part of the Bornean orangutan's natural behavioural repertoire to a much greater extent than previously thought, and is only modified by habitat disturbance. The capacity of orangutans to come down from the trees may increase their ability to cope with at least smaller-scale forest fragmentation, and to cross moderately open spaces in mosaic landscapes, although the extent of this versatility remains to be investigated
First-principles modeling of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons reduction
Density functional theory modelling of the reduction of realistic
nanographene molecules (C42H18, C48H18 and C60H24) by molecular hydrogen
evidences for the presence of limits in the hydrogenation process. These limits
caused the contentions between three-fold symmetry of polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbon molecules and two-fold symmetry of adsorbed hydrogen pairs.
Increase of the binding energy between nanographenes during reduction is also
discussed as possible cause of the experimentally observed limited
hydrogenation of studied nanographenes.Comment: 18 pages, 7 figures, accepted to J. Phys. Chem.

Fractured Identity in the Context of Intimate Partner Violence:Barriers to and Opportunities for Seeking Help in Health Settings
Intimate partner violence has profound effects on women's identities. However, detailed examination of how abuse affects identity is lacking. We interviewed 14 diverse women (Australia), applying social identity theory to analyze their experiences of identity and help-seeking in health settings. The destabilizing effect of violence on social identities was strongly supported. Women concealed abuse to preserve a public identity. However, when the violence threatened the most integrated identities, women unveiled an abuse identity, receiving mixed responses from health providers. A healing context where a woman can display an abuse identity safely is crucial to enable her to rebuild an integrated self-concept
Blue and Orange Lunch Line
The fall 2013 section of Supply Chain Management 420-Creating Sustainable Goods and Services, taught by Dr. Tom Gattiker, completed a group project using the Green Breakthrough process which is based on Design Thinking. The assignment for this portion of the course was a written proposal for a product or service that:
– Is highly innovative, not incremental
– Meets a customer (e.g. student, faculty) need
– Has a significant environmental benefit
– Related to the BSU / our campus
– Customer facing
– Could be implemented at BSU (or nearby) within one year
I was a member of team 2 along with Roger Perez, Andrew Johnson, and Richard Travis. Our group proposed a lunch time shuttle service that customers could use to get to and from local restaurants. This innovation would provide access to a variety of food and beverage choices while reducing traffic, air and noise pollution around campus. Service hours would be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The service would require three contracted shuttles. Two shuttles would carry patrons north and south on Broadway Avenue, making a round trip every 30 minutes. The third shuttle would circle campus, making stops on University Dr. and Cesar Chavez Lane every 15 minutes
Design of Marketing Mix of the Multi-Genre Festival
Táto práca sa zaoberá návrhom marketingového mixu multi-žánrového festivalu. Cieľom práce je analyzovať marketingový mix multi-žánrového festivalu Hviezdne noci Bytča a navrhnúť zefektívnenie pre jednotlivé prvky marketingového mixu. V teoretickej časti je popis jednotlivých nástrojov marketingového mixu a charakteristika festivalu. Praktická časť sa venuje metodike zberu dát, analýze súčasného marketingového mixu festivalu, analýze marketingového výskumu a potom nasledujú odporučenia a návrhy na zlepšenie marketingového mixu. This bachelor thesis focuses on Marketing Mix Design of Multi-Genre Festival. The final aim of this work is to analyze marketing mix of the multi - genre festival „Hviezdne noci Bytča“ and propose efficiency improvement of each parts of marketing mix. In the theoretical part is description of each tools from marketing mix and also characteristic of the festival. The practical part focuses on the methodology of data collection, analysis of current marketing mix of multi-genre festival „Hviezdne noci“, analysis of results of marketing survey and then follow proposals and recommendation for improvement of marketing mix.116 - Katedra marketingu a obchoduvelmi dobř
