Nonlinear dynamics in superlattices driven by high frequency ac-fields
We investigate the dynamical processes taking place in nanodevices driven by
high-frequency electromagnetic fields. We want to elucidate the role of
different mechanisms that could lead to loss of quantum coherence. Our results
show how the dephasing effects of disorder that destroy after some periods
coherent oscillations, such as Rabi oscillations, can be overestimated if we do
not consider the electron-electron interactions that can reduce dramatically
the decoherence effects of the structural imperfections. Experimental
conditions for the observation of the predicted effects are discussed.Comment: REVTEX (8 pages) and 4 figures (Postscript
Course Development: Advanced Audio Content Creation
The goal of this portfolio is to develop BRDC 391 Special Topics: Advanced Audio Content Creation into a permanent course that serves as an extension of BRDC 227 and supports advanced learning in audio production. The College of Journalism and Mass Communications has expressed a need for an advanced audio offering as interest in audio production has surged with the popularity of podcasting and audiobook production. The course centers around concept creation, hardware and software use, writing, vocal performance, and editing to create professional-level audio productions. This portfolio documents the development of Advanced Audio Content Creation and the student learning achieved in the course in Spring 2022 to help make the case for giving the course a permanent course number and a regular rotation in the curriculum as an elective
AUTOMATED METHOD OF NOISE REMOVAL FROM MULTICHANNEL AUDIO
An automated system and method are disclosed for the removal of background noise from audio signals. The system takes input of multiple recordings of the same event and gives an output of a single audio stream. This audio stream emphasizes the common components of the inputs and attenuates components that are not perceived in all the recordings. The method removes constant background noise and shorter impulse noises effectively through , audio preprocessing, noise detection and attenuation, and final signal synthesis. Any video or audio editing software could use this method to create clearer audio signals with less background noise
METHOD FOR IMPLEMENTING AUTOMATED FUSION OF MULTIPLE AUDIOVISUAL RECORDINGS
A system and method for implementing automated fusion of multiple recordings of an event by using video processing is disclosed. The application determines the best camera angle from the available recordings for viewing important parts of the event and allows the user to automatically generate a fused version from the several recordings. The method includes video synchronization, tracking and clustering tracked objects in the video, followed by optimum video feed inference. The method greatly reduces time and eliminates manual effort, as processes such as identifying the best quality among different versions available, sequencing various clips correctly, and fusing them seamlessly are all automated
Multiphoton Quantum Optics and Quantum State Engineering
We present a review of theoretical and experimental aspects of multiphoton
quantum optics. Multiphoton processes occur and are important for many aspects
of matter-radiation interactions that include the efficient ionization of atoms
and molecules, and, more generally, atomic transition mechanisms;
system-environment couplings and dissipative quantum dynamics; laser physics,
optical parametric processes, and interferometry. A single review cannot
account for all aspects of such an enormously vast subject. Here we choose to
concentrate our attention on parametric processes in nonlinear media, with
special emphasis on the engineering of nonclassical states of photons and
atoms. We present a detailed analysis of the methods and techniques for the
production of genuinely quantum multiphoton processes in nonlinear media, and
the corresponding models of multiphoton effective interactions. We review
existing proposals for the classification, engineering, and manipulation of
nonclassical states, including Fock states, macroscopic superposition states,
and multiphoton generalized coherent states. We introduce and discuss the
structure of canonical multiphoton quantum optics and the associated one- and
two-mode canonical multiphoton squeezed states. This framework provides a
consistent multiphoton generalization of two-photon quantum optics and a
consistent Hamiltonian description of multiphoton processes associated to
higher-order nonlinearities. Finally, we discuss very recent advances that by
combining linear and nonlinear optical devices allow to realize multiphoton
entangled states of the electromnagnetic field, that are relevant for
applications to efficient quantum computation, quantum teleportation, and
related problems in quantum communication and information.Comment: 198 pages, 36 eps figure
Tesi
