Entanglement in a multiverse with no common space-time
Inter-universal entanglement may even exist in a multiverse in which there is
no common space-time among the universes. In particular, the entanglement
between the expanding and contracting branches of the universe might have
observable consequences in the dynamical and thermodynamical properties of one
single branch, making therefore testable the whole multiverse proposal, at
least in principle.Comment: 4 pages. Prepared for the proceedings of the Multiverse and

Typification and economic analysis of beef-producing farms in Spain
In spite of different economic agents’ interests, as well as the Administration’s effort in promoting extensive beef-producing systems over the last years, this kind of activity still hasn’t reached the desirable levels, being necessary that farmers perceive an appropriate benefit which supports their activity. In this sense, this paper, using the data obtained by a statistical survey representing all the extensive beef-producing farms existing in Castile and Leon (Spain), aims to analyze the economical results of extensive beef-producing farms, previously classified in representative groups according a quantitative method. The study is a preliminary research which intends to generate additional knowledge about the role of the different variables which make part of the economic results, and takes part of a research project financed by Castile and Leon Regional Governments, Education and Culture Council, through the annual program to support research projects (Order EDU/1143/2004).Cluster Analysis, extensive beef producing systems, economic accounts, Livestock Production/Industries,
Observational consequences of an interacting multiverse
The observability of the multiverse is at the very root of its physical
significance as a scientific proposal. In this conference we present, within
the third quantization formalism, an interacting scheme between the wave
functions of different universes and analyze the effects of some particular
values of the coupling function. One of the main consequences of the
interaction between universes can be the appearance of a pre-inflationary stage
in the evolution of the universes that might leave observable consequences in
the properties of the CMB.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures. Proceedings of the conference given in the

Enhancement of Xe-129 polarization by off-resonant spin exchange optical pumping
A high power narrow line width (38 W, 0.09 nm full width at half maximum) external cavity diode laser is investigated for rubidium spin exchange optical pumping of Xe-129. This tunable photon source has a constant line width, independent of operating power or wavelength within a 1 nm tuning range. When using this laser, an increase in the Xe-129 nuclear polarization is observed when optically pumping at a lower wavelength than the measured Rb electron D-1 absorption. The exact detuning from D1 for the highest polarization is dependent upon the gas density. Furthermore, at high power and/or high Rb density, a reduction in the polarization occurs at the optimum wavelength as previously reported in spin exchange optical pumping studies of He-3 which is consistent with high absorption close to the cell front face. These results are encouraging for moderate high throughput polarization of Xe-129 in the midpressure range of (0.5-2.0 amagat). (C) 2010 American Institute of Physics. [doi: 10.1063/1.3478707
Latina Microenterprise and the U.S.-Mexico Border Economy
The number of U.S. Latina-owned small businesses and microenterprises increased at a rapid clip during the 1990s. An astonishing growth rate of 232 percent between 1988 and 1997 in Latino-owned businesses was reported by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA, 1998). Self-employment rates among Latinas in the United States increased two-fold during the time period from 1990 to 2000 (Census Bureau, 2001). According to estimates there are more than two million microentrepreneurs in the United States (Grameen Foundation USA, 2002; Aspen Institute, 2000). Almost ten million people live along the U.S.-Mexico border. Mexico is the United States' second-largest trading partner, accounting for US $262 billion in two-way trade in 2000 (Department of Commerce, 2002). This study explores the incidence of microenterprise growth in the U.S.-Mexico border economy. I present a case study of a Latina-owned microenterprise engaged in business activities that include transnational trade arrangements with Mexico and other Latin American countries. From this study, a variety of policy issues emerge that affect the ease of trade arrangements and that relate to the growth of microenterprises as a potential poverty-reduction initiative along the U.S.-Mexico border.bicultural skills, microenterprise, transnational trade, transparency, International Relations/Trade,
Time reversal symmetry in cosmology and the creation of a universe-antiuniverse pair
The classical evolution of the universe can be seen as a parametrised
worldline of the minisuperspace, with the time variable the parameter that
parametrises the worldline. The time reversal symmetry of the field equations
implies that for any positive oriented solution there can be a symmetric
negative oriented one that, in terms of the same time variable, represent an
expanding and a contracting universe, respectively. However, the choice of the
time variable induced by the correct value of the Schr\"odinger equation in the
two universes makes that their physical time variables could be reversely
related. In that case, the two universes would be both expanding universes from
the point of view of their internal inhabitants, who identify matter with the
particles that move in their spacetimes and antimatter with the particles that
move in the time reversely symmetric universe. If the assumptions considered
are consistent with a realistic scenario of our universe, the creation of a
universe-antiuniverse pair might explain two main and related problems in
cosmology: the time asymmetry and the primordial matter-antimatter asymmetry of
our universe.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures. Minor changes and typos corrected, some
