Musical Tradition in Megalithic Site of Indonesian Gunung Padang?

The paper reports a possibilities of musical traditions of ancient civilization who built the sites discovered in Gunung Padang, West Java, Indonesia. Particular group of the stones in the megalithic site happens to have relatively high frequency that might have correspondence with standard western musical scale. From the samples recorded at the site, we do the power spectral analysis to have the dominant frequency within the audio and mapped the result to MIDI numbers. We showed that the obtained four notes interestingly have particular places in modern musical scale

Evolution of Consumers’ Preferences due to Innovation

The integration process between evolutionary approach and conventional economic analysis is very essential for the next development of economic studies, especially in the fundamental concepts of modern economics: supply and demand analysis. In this presentation, we use the concept of meme to explore evolution of demand. This study offers an evolutionary model of demand, which views utility as a function of the distance between the two types of sequences of memes (memeplex), which represent economic product and consumer preference. It is very different from the conventional approach of demand, which only views utility as a function of quantity. This modification provides an opportunity to see innovation and transformation of consumer preferences in the demand perspective. Innovation is seen as a change in sequence of memes in economic products, while the transformation of consumer behavior is defined as a change in the aligning memes of consumer preference. Demand quantity is the result of the selection process. This model produces some interesting characteristics, such as: (i) quantitative and qualitative properties of evolution of demand, (ii) relationship between consumer behavior and properties of evolution of demand that occurred and (iii) power law on the distribution of product lifetime. At the end we show the improvement of utility function, in the concept of meme, might create a new landscape for the further development of economics

Historical Relative Performance Index over Interconnectedness of Badminton Athletes

The paper proposes the Historical Relative Performance Index in order to quantitatively extract information in the scores hit in the sets of head-to-head game in badminton tournaments. The index is treated as the weights of the directed networks built between competing athletes. The paper also proposes the way to build the fully connected network based on the empirically found network in order to have relative index between athletes that have never nor will be met in series of games. Some further directions as well as implementation to small amount of data is described for advanced analysis

HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN DAN SIKAP PENDERITA TUBERKULOSIS PARU DENGAN KEPATUHAN MINUM OBAT ANTI TUBERKULOSIS (OAT)DI RSUD DR. HUSNI THAMRIN NATAL KABUPATEN MANDAILING NATAL

Tuberkulosis (TB) paru merupakan penyakit infeksi pada paru yang disebabkan oleh kuman Mycobacterium tuberculosis dengan risiko penularan yang sangat tinggi. Penderita TB berpotensi tidak patuh minum obat anti tuberkulosis (OAT) secara teratur sesuai petunjuk. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kepatuhan minum OAT antara lain pengetahuan tentang TB paru, sikap, dukungan keluarga, sosial ekonomi, Pengawas Menelan Obat (PMO) dan jarak antara rumah penderita ke rumah sakit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan dan sikap penderita tuberkulosis paru dengan kepatuhan minum OAT di RSUD dr. Husni Thamrin Natal Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. Penelitian dilakukan di Poliklinik Paru RSUD dr. Husni Thamrin Natal Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. Penelitian ini merupakan analitik observasional dengan desain cross sectional. Data diolah ke dalam uji korelasi Spearman terhadap 57 sampel yang diambil dengan metode consecutive sampling. Hasil penelitian adalah menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan (p value = 0,000) dan sikap (p value = 0,000) dengan kepatuhan minum OAT. Kesimpulannya terdapat hubungan positif dari pengetahuan dan sikap terhadap kepatuhan minum OAT yang berbanding lurus pada penderita TB paru di Poliklinik Paru RSUD dr. Husni Thamrin Natal Kabupaten Mandailing Natal.Kata kunci: Pengetahuan, Sikap, Kepatuhan Minum OAT dan Tuberkulosi

Appropriate terminology for karst-like phenomena: the problem with ‘pseudokarst’

The practice of referring to certain morphologically karst-like phenomena as ‘pseudokarst’ is problematic, because it ignores basic principles of sound classification, logical naming conventions and accepted geomorphic classifications and terminology. These problems have compounded the difficulty in establishing an accepted classification of ‘pseudokarst’ types. The practice embodies a karst-centric perspective which should be avoided in favour of using conventional geomorphic terminology for non-karstic features. We illustrate this by providing existing conventional terms for many ‘pseudokarst’ types reported in the literature
