Performance of Equal Phase-Shift Search for One Iteration
Grover presented the phase-shift search by replacing the selective inversions
by selective phase shifts of . In this paper, we investigate the
phase-shift search with general equal phase shifts. We show that for small
uncertainties, the failure probability of the Phase- search is smaller
than the general phase-shift search and for large uncertainties, the success
probability of the large phase-shift search is larger than the Phase-
search. Therefore, the large phase-shift search is suitable for large-size of

Understanding ratio distribution in the mixed events
The event mixing method is analyzed for the study of the event-by-event
ratio distribution. It is shown that there exists some correlation
between the kaon and pion multiplicities in the mixed events. The ratio
distributions in the mixed events for different sets of real events are shown.
The dependence of the distributions on the mean ratio, mean and
variance of multiplicity distribution in the real events is investigated
systematically. The effect of imperfect particle identification on the

Stratification of eosinophilic asthma patients treated with reslizumab and GINA Step 4 or 5 therapy
Reslizumab, an anti-interleukin-5 monoclonal antibody, significantly reduces exacerbation frequency and improves lung function, asthma control and quality of life in adults with severe eosinophilic asthma, as demonstrated in Phase III studies. This secondary analysis assessed reslizumab's efficacy in patients receiving baseline treatment per Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) Step 4 and Step 5 guidelines. Pooled data from duplicate, Phase III, reslizumab versus placebo studies in patients with severe eosinophilic asthma (blood eosinophils ≥400 cells·µL-1) were stratified by baseline therapy. Efficacy assessments were exacerbation rates and changes from baseline forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1) and patient-reported outcomes. Of 953 patients, 69% (n=657) and 11% (n=106) were receiving Step 4 and Step 5 therapy, respectively. Compared with placebo, reslizumab reduced exacerbation rates by 53% (95% CI 0.36-0.62) and 72% (95% CI 0.15-0.52), in Step 4 and Step 5 groups respectively. By study end, reslizumab increased FEV1 in Step 4 and Step 5 groups by 103 mL (95% CI 52-154 mL) and 237 mL (95% CI 68-407 mL), respectively. Reslizumab also improved patient-reported outcomes compared with placebo in both groups. Reslizumab reduces exacerbation rates and improves lung function and patient-reported outcomes in patients with eosinophilic asthma receiving therapy per Steps 4 and 5 of the GINA guidelines
Kinetic description of charmonium production in high-energy nuclear collisions
We study the evolution of charmonia as they collide with the constituents of
the fireball produced in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. The latter
evolves in a manner controlled by the equation of state as given by lattice
QCD, and is constructed in such a way that the observed hadronic spectra are
correctly reproduced. A kinetic description of charmonium interactions with
both quark-gluon and hadronic degrees of freedom allows to study in detail the
evolution in different regimes, controlled by collision energy, kinematics and
geometry. The data collected at the CERN-SPS accelerator are well described and
new estimates for J/psi production at BNL-RHIC are presented.Comment: 19 pages, LaTeX, 13 .eps figure
Theoretical model for ultracold molecule formation via adaptive feedback control
We investigate pump-dump photoassociation of ultracold molecules with
amplitude- and phase-modulated femtosecond laser pulses. For this purpose a
perturbative model for the light-matter interaction is developed and combined
with a genetic algorithm for adaptive feedback control of the laser pulse
shapes. The model is applied to the formation of 85Rb2 molecules in a
magneto-optical trap. We find for optimized pulse shapes an improvement for the
formation of ground state molecules by more than a factor of 10 compared to
unshaped pulses at the same pump-dump delay time, and by 40% compared to
unshaped pulses at the respective optimal pump-dump delay time. Since our model
yields directly the spectral amplitudes and phases of the optimized pulses, the
results are directly applicable in pulse shaping experiments
Conformally Flat Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics: Application to Neutron Star Mergers
We present a new 3D SPH code which solves the general relativistic field +
hydrodynamics equations in the conformally flat approximation. Several test
cases are considered to test different aspects of the code. We finally apply
then the code to the coalescence of a neutron star binary system. The neutron
stars are modeled by a polytropic equation of state (EoS) with adiabatic
indices , and . We calculate the
gravitational wave signals, luminosities and frequency spectra by employing the
quadrupole approximation for emission and back reaction in the slow motion

Novel diffusion mechanism on the GaAs(001) surface: the role of adatom-dimer interaction
Employing first principles total energy calculations we have studied the
behavior of Ga and Al adatoms on the GaAs(001)-beta2 surface. The adsorption
site and two relevant diffusion channels are identified. The channels are
characterized by different adatom-surface dimer interaction. Both affect in a
novel way the adatom migration: in one channel the diffusing adatom jumps
across the surface dimers and leaves the dimer bonds intact, in the other one
the surface dimer bonds are broken. The two channels are taken into account to
derive effective adatom diffusion barriers. From the diffusion barriers we
conclude a strong diffusion anisotropy for both Al and Ga adatoms with the
direction of fastest diffusion parallel to the surface dimers. In agreement
with experimental observations we find higher diffusion barriers for Al than

Jet Physics in Heavy Ion Collisions with Compact Muon Solenoid detector at the LHC
The status of CMS jet simulations and physics analysis in heavy ion
collisions is presented. Jet reconstruction and high transverse momentum
particle tracking in the high multiplicity environment of heavy ion collisions
at the LHC using the CMS calorimetry and tracking system are described. The
