In return the newcomers have woven their ideas and ideals into the fabric of a great nation. The first immigrants gave much to the country. They were home seekers ready and willing to cooperate with the native born to make this an enlightened country. The settlers of Crawford County, Kansas have proved to be no exception. Many interesting problems have arisen, however, concerning the naturalization and Americanization of the aliens within the country

Algorithmic Transverse Feedback Linearization

The feedback equivalence problem, that there exists a state and feedback transformation between two control systems, has been used to solve a wide range of problems both in linear and nonlinear control theory. Its significance is in asking whether a particular system can be made equivalent to a possibly simpler system for which the control problem is easier to solve. The equivalence can then be utilized to transform a solution to the simpler control problem into one for the original control system. Transverse feedback linearization is one such feedback equivalence problem. It is a feedback equivalence problem first introduced by Banaszuk and Hauser for feedback linearizing the dynamics transverse to an orbit in the state-space. In particular, it asks to find an equivalence between the original nonlinear control-affine system and two subsystems: one that is nonlinear but acts tangent to the orbit, and another that is a controllable, linear system and acts transverse to the orbit. If this controllable, linear subsystem is stabilized, the original system converges upon the orbit. Nielsen and Maggiore generalized this problem to arbitrary smooth manifolds of the state-space, and produced conditions upon which the problem was solvable. Those conditions do not help in finding the specific transformation required to implement the control design, but they did suggest one method to find the required transformation. It relies on the construction of a mathematical object that is difficult to do without system-specific insight. This thesis proposes an algorithm for transverse feedback linearization that computes the required transformation. Inspired by literature that looked at the feedback linearization and dynamic feedback linearization problems, this work suggests turning to the "dual space" and using a tool known as the derived flag. The algorithm proposed is geometric in nature, and gives a different perspective on, not just transverse feedback linearization, but feedback linearization problems more broadly

Metode hipnoterapi melalui konseling kelompok dalam menghentikan kebiasaan merokok di kalangan anak-anak yatim di Kompleks kebajikan Laila Taib Lot 459, Jalan Sultan Tengah, Petra Jaya, Sarawak, 93050 Kuching, Malaysia

Seperti kita ketahui bahwa setiap tahun perilaku kebiasaan merokok semakin meningkat terutama dikalangan remaja. Hal tersebut akan memberikan dampak negatif kepada remaja sebagai penerus bangsa sebab banyak sekali penyakit yang dapat ditimbulkan akibat menghisap rokok. Terutama pada remaja yang dalam masa pertumbuhan.selain itu juga rokok merupakan salah satu punca remaja terjerumus dalam penyalah gunaan narkoba. Maka metode hipnoterapi melalui konseling kelompok hadir untuk memberhentikan kebiasaan merokok dikalangan remaja tersebut. Metode Hipnoterapi merupakan salah satu terapi yang dapat digunakan melalui konseling kelompok untuk memberhentikan kebiasaan merokok dengan cara memberikan impuls kepada subjek dengan tujuan menghilangkan dan melemahkan keinginan untuk merokok. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menjawab permasalahan yaitu: bagaimana kondisi kebiasaan merokok di kalangan anak-anak yatim di Kompleks Kebajikan Laila Taib Kiching, Sarawak, Malaysia.?; bagaimana proses penerapan metode hipnoterapi melaui konseling kelompok untuk menghentikan kebiasaan merokok di Kompleks Kebajikan Laila Taib Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.?; bagaimana hasil dari metode hipnoterapi melalui konseling kelompok untuk menghentikan kebiasaan merokok di Kompleks Kebajikan Laila Taib Kuching Sarawak Malaysia? Permasalahan tersebut dibahas melalui studi lapangan di Kompleks Kebajikan Laila Taib Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia menggunakan metode Deskriptif. Data diperoleh dari observasi pertisipasi, wawancara lansung dan mendalam (deeep interview) dan dokumentasi nonpublikasi. Maka untuk mengetahui kondisi kebiasaan merokok di kalangan anak-anak yatim di Kompleks Kebajikan Laila Taib Kuching Sarawak Malaysia peneliti menggunakan wawancara langsung dan mendalam (deep interview) terhadap konseli, teman dekat konseli, para staf, penjaga atau pengasuh dan juga ahli keluar konseli yang masih hidup. Proses pelaksanaan metode hipnoterapi melalui konseling kelompok untuk memberhentikan kebiasaan merokok di kalangan anak-anak yatim ini melalui lima tahap iaitu tahapan awal (transition stage), tahap transisi (transition stage), tahap kinerja/ kegiatan (performing stage), tahap pelaksaan metode hipnoterapi dan tahap penutup (termination stage) dan mengevaluasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini mendapati metode hipnoterapi melalui konseling kelompok dapat menjadi salah satu pilihan bagi remaja dan anak-anak yatim untuk memberhentikan kebiasaan merokok yang ada pada diri mereka

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND FAKE NEWS QUOTIENT OF BPE STUDENTS

This descriptive correlational design study aimed to describe the significant relationship between emotional intelligence and the fake news quotient of BPE students. The results from 200 BPE students from the College of Teacher Education of the University of Mindanao revealed the following: the level of emotional intelligence was high; the level of fake news quotient was high; when correlated, there is a significant and moderate positive relationship among the variables. This implies that emotional intelligence could moderately affect the fake news quotient of BPE students, where emotional intelligence will allow them to determine fake news. However, having an average level of emotional intelligence will not only be the factor that influences the determination of fake news. Thus, determining the students' emotional intelligence level provides insight to teachers on how emotional intelligence may affect the fake news quotient of BPE students.  Article visualizations

In this paper we present necessary and sufficient conditions for a single-input system to be locally transversally feedback linearizable to a given submanifold that dualize, in an algebraic sense, previously published conditions. These dual conditions are of interest in their own right and represent a first step towards a Gardner-Shadwick like algorithm for local transverse feedback linearization
